I can't manage to get the full 27 hit Orlandu chain. I'm tapping the two of them as fast as I can but I typically get two chains of 11. If I wait for a split second, I get a 9 chain or so. Am I doing it too fast or too slow? If I'm too slow, what technique are you using to tap them so fast?

The gif isn't actually mine. But I do have the same set up. I tried mine with 3 Orlandus and 2 Yuns, with breaks applied I'm dealing 7.7m damage, without a finisher.
Both my Yuns have Kaiser Knuckles (offhands non elemental) and 3 Orlandu have Excalibur (offhands non elemental). My chain goes up to 81 hits and still kept Elemental Chaining all the way. 2xYuns are using Raging Bird (10 hits non elemental attack) and 3xOrlandus with Divine Ruination.
My guess is, Elemental Chain doesn't break as long as the elements used are still chaining, regardless of hit order.

I still do all sorts of quiet summoning tests in the background, especially on story release weeks (got to finish that esper summoning trophy someday, lol).
The original potential that was present from the game's launch is still there; it never went anywhere. The issue at the moment for Global is that espers are still tuned to Grandshelt, which was 9 months ago at this point. Combined with a lack any form of summoning boosting equipment and TMs anywhere in the game, esper summoning for damage is laughable as ELT-level encounters didn't exist at launch. Hell, PRO-level didn't exist at launch either for that matter either.
What do you want to know?

Should I use Olive as a friend unit, or Noctis? I see people like using Olive at the end of chains.
A big fat 0 because that would require Square Enix to remember good games they own.
Whichever you can gear better, haha. If it's all the same, Olives are more uncommon in my experience.

It's going to be interesting seeing friend list fragmentation as the game progresses.
At the start, Chizuru was everything. If you had one with her own TM, you were in the upper echelon of friend units. Then Fencer w/ Enhancer was sought-after. Lightning was the big business for a while, then Luneth, then Elza, then, then, then... for the most part, each new physical 5* base more or less replaced the other in desirability. But as Aileen and Tidus and so on roll out, friend unit value is going to change dramatically.
Chizuru and Lightning and Luneth and Gilgamesh were broadly useful regardless of your team setup, since "highest ATK, best friend unit". But if I have Orlandeau and not Aileen and a third of my friends list switches to Aileen when she releases, that doesn't help me in any real way (and vice versa).
When Ramza gets his enhancements, sharing him will be a pretty useful thing to do... but I have one. I don't need a friend unit Ramza. Though a person who pulled two Orlandeaus/Aileens/Tidusii might value one.
130 friend spaces is a lot, but I can eventually see fragmentation reaching the point where you have to start targetting specific friend units more carefully.

Honestly, situational. But I run CoD on both alt and main. I've got Firion up to 80 on my alt 5*, but I'm just not a fan. I tend to rely on CoD. But it depends really on what you need.
(Also, Comeback is what someone mentioned, and is what it used to be called. It's new name fairly recently is Return. Comeback was so much better.)

Focus on one unit at a time. 1 great atk unit is better than 3 average atk unit.
Try to gear your first Orlandu as best as you can. The 2nd one you can use Durandal just for chaining purpose. Then gear your Olive after your first Orlandu.

In a balanced game, sure. But gacha games aren't anywhere near balanced intentionally. I'm a little skeptical that the devs would allow enough fragmentation without power creep that 130 friend slots can fill up and still achieve artificial scarcity for a key unit. Chase units = need to pull, and there has to be some carrot for the playerbase to be chasing to keep them broadly interested in the game.
Glad I wasn't the only one who thought that.

Odds are good you'll get some other 5* bases on the way. Question is whether or not you need them, and whether you can afford to throw $400 away.
My advice would be to watch the video of Valentus pulling for him before you make a decision.
If I was going to drop $400 on 10+1s, I wouldn't be doing it now. I'd be doing it on Tidus' banner, where Aileen and Orlandeau both should be in the pool. Runner-up prizes are on average better (though you still might pull six Queens instead) even if the grand prize isn't necessarily as strong. Also Rikku will be there, etc..

Onion Knight probably. I keep telling myself that with olive and gilgamesh, I don't really need him right now, I'd have to probably get rid of gilgamesh to put him in the lineup.
I have Ramza, Delita, Lightning, Gilgamesh, Olive, Marie, Emperor, Queen as base 5*. The odds of pulling one of them as a duplicate is also great. You're right, at least I could pull one of those on that Tidus banner...
Well that's always a possibility in gacha games. Or you'll pull 3 in your first 5k pull, like what Valcryst did.
Just put a limit to your pulls. If you plan to drop 400, stick to it. 90k Lapis would most likely give you at least 1 Orlandu. As for me, since I already got 1 on the first day, I was only willing to drop 100 more. If i get another, great. If i didn't, it's fine.

Real talk: you already know you don't need to pull for Orlandeau, given that you have a ridiculously diverse base. Two incredible supports, a great builder (eventually)/capper, a crazy dumb capper, a great mage, some pink-haired relic from days gone by, et cetera.
If you want him because you want to "stay ahead of the power curve" (most in this thread are well ahead of it) then you'll be back here doing the same thing for Aileen and Tidus and Dark Veritas and Onion Knight and... you may as well put it off as long as you can.
If you want him because he's Orlandeau then pull. I'm of the opinion that this 'wait for dailies' stuff is for the birds, personally. You want a prize, go for the damned thing.

I don't feel I need Orlandu to be ahead of the power curve either. I had no problem with dealing with any of the content so far. We're pretty much loaded with great units and TMs, we arent the typical userbase here on gaf.
I will think about it another week. I know I'm a very impulsive person and it'll make me work on that as well lol

I started One Piece Treasure Cruise: ~2 months ago (played it for one month 2 years ago when it launched). Game has changed in 2 years time.
Casually playing War Pirates (might drop it, too pvpish).
Then playing small game (player base) 18 by Gamesamba, its Puzzle and Dradong slapped to Persona style art. Rates are brutal, premium currency scarce (don't use money not worth of it). Version is not updated from when it launched to Android ~5 months ago (Still no iOS I think). Not sure when it gets global launch (or does it get). Good time sink, reroll til you get unit that can go to 5* and is ok as leader ability (boost atk & hp).
