We are nearing the end of "Season 1" of the story. Season 2 versions of story characters are slowly being added to banners as 5* units. So far we've had Lasswell, Sakura and now Fina. We'll probably get the whole main cast, eventually.
I know the trial's wiki entry made a point of saying to avoid killing Typhon on a turn that was a multiple of 3.
That was the difference for me from getting wiped on killing Typhon to surviving it.
Also, once Typhon dies Orthos casts acid rain(group dispel) before the magnitude so that one isn't reduced by buffs. Don't know if the attack debuff is still effective.

Ah. I didn't know that. Are these new versions of the characters pretty good? I imagine that they're just more badass versions of themselves, but I could be wrong about that.

Pretty much, I don't have worthwhile units anymore since Firion/Agrias/etc are all maxed and I already said I was giving some to Lasswell because of that.
HP pots are severely lacking though.

I've been wondering why they're holding 6* WoL. Is he game breaking or something?
Without enhancements he is not more broken than Cecil even though they have different roles and he is definetely worse than Wilhelm.
With enhancements he is top tier, but not something that would completely change the game.
If anything, they are only fucking the players with not so good teams with this delay.

Ramza is just an example because he's an easy one to say his effectiveness was doubled. There are a ton of characters, not just base 5-star ones, that gain incredible amounts of effectiveness. There are ones like Kuja or Agrias where they become on par with higher tier units as a result.
It is true a lot of early enhancements are somewhat lackluster but they find their footing as they go on and more appropriate enhancements get released. So it's worthwhile even if you're F2P. In some respects, it's even more worthwhile in that case than for a person that spends money as it'll extend the strength of your pool of units longer until luck hits
As long as the cost isn't crazy like T5s during Mog Kings or outside of your current progress path, you should definitely get them. These story events are designed to be a place to get them as a part of the standard event routine, for example.
If you post an example of what units you have, I can point out what units have enhancements down the line and how powerful they are.
Sage Sakura is currently the best mage in JP. She's probably the most powerful unit in the game right now in a 1 to 1 comparison. She can get a whopping 6600% damage per turn after her counter lands and her magic builds its full potency. When you factor in chaining, it's a better look but you have to take into account 2 chars in that case. She also has great support skills as well.
Fire & Ice Lasswell is one of the best finishers currently and he can get really powerful without having a lot of TMs because of all his great char-specific gear. His biggest problem is that his best damaging skills need to be activated using another skill (for 1 turn) or using his LB (for 2-5 turns). He's a bit of a gas guzzler as a result and his LB takes forever to charge because it's 45 stones. He's still a really powerful unit though and considering the variety of TMs available in JP right now, he could make a really wild DH unit if you had the TMRs to do it.
Like Syntsui said, he's not really game breaking. I think that holding him for some FF Mobius Collab is a decent guess and a really shitty thing for them to hold him back for given how much help he'd be to non-whales for some events that we should have had him for.

Reddit really needs to figure out to stop pissing and moaning about OP JP FF-based units. This is literally the Half-Life 3 GabeN joke. Every time some one asks when 6* WoL, 6* Tilith, Rikku or Tidus is coming out, they get delayed another week.
Gumi has made it rather clear many times over at this point that they do not want to follow the OP unit schedule of JP. The more everyone screams about why the next JP chase unit hasn't shown up yet, the greater the incentive there is for them to keep those units away from Global.
Hell, at this point, it is starting to become clear that the methods used to farm high-tier crysts on Global will be different than how JP farms crysts. The devs are **that** adamant about breaking Global players off of reading up on how "JP does it".

Full-clear through 9 on the event. Had to actually pay attention to the boss on 9, as that was the first opponent with actual significant defenses to clear its missions.
All in all, liking this event a lot (as a one-time thing). It's becoming obvious how this all ends up and explains how the seemingly Deus Ex Machina event in the recent main story release actually realistically happened.
Also, the event is a very nice showcase of past gorgeous stage graphics as well as an excuse to use them again. Totally forgot how much attention to detail was given to the Carbunkle Grove and Mercedes's Ship stages.

Yeah I never have enough HP pots. Everyone tries hard to attack pot weeks but HP pots are where it's at. People don't realise that king stat pots give you just under or over (depending on the unit) a third of the​ maximum. Meanwhile king HP pots only give you an 1/8th. And every unit needs HP, but not every unit needs attack or mag.
Not sure how many have finished the story, but the final boss fight is no joke, 2 boss kill clears, one with lb, the other esper~ fire flask put the spider boss to sleep and i left her there while i fought the other... in the first round he did roughly 80-85% of my total hp on everyone, soooo be careful.
I can understand that. They seem to be against giving old characters their 6* form for some reason. Been waiting for WoL and Garland to get their 6* form, but that just isn't happening and we've gotten a ton of unknown FFBE characters instead. I wish they would stop this. Let us buff up some characters we've put some serious time into and are more beloved than unknown character #5.
So Amelia is good? I've avoided the last couple of banners since none of the characters looked all that cool.
I guess I can understand where you're coming from, but up until this point I haven't seen any reason to care for it yet. It's seriously grindy after looking at what was required to buff up Lightning. I saw what was needed and gave up even bothering with that. If all characters really benefitted and it wasn't so grindy, then I'd be all about buffing up characters I use the most. Just like pulling a character, so of them are good, some suck, and some of them are too badass. It's too easy for the uninformed to screw themselves by investing in something that may waste materials and gil.

3 straight battles now I kill Typhoon and then get auto killed.
This is bullshit now. There is no way for me to survive all those attacks at once, so matter how well I buff and debuffs before hand.
What the hell am I doing wrong here? I went in with higher HP this time too.
Edit - Last spell was Acid Rain #2.
Screw the strategy that doesn't work. Killing Typhoon first for me is an automatic death sentence. Total cakewalk for me before that point.

Are you killing him on a turn multiple of 3 every time? Because that's what he does if you do. He only does like 2 things if you're killing Typhon on the right turns.

I killed him the turn after I hit Typhoon will a wind spell, this nullifying his Snort.
That should be turn #5 shouldn't it?
Edit - Wait, he preps turn 4, itchy nose turn 5 and I kill him after.
That's turn 6...

I think that's a turn 6. I killed him right after a snort-turn and got absolutely destroyed. Waited a turn the next time he did very little.

In PvE, she's solid, but not exemplary like Orlandeau. (Which makes sense as she is 4*).
In PvP, she's exemplary as she has an ability that brings what everyone dreads about Noctis in the arena to the masses, AoE Stop.
Her TMR is also quite solid on herself, as is the case for most new unit releases. However, her TMR is exemplary on Olive and is BiS body armor for her. With the apron, Olive's already ludicrous chain finisher becomes even crazier, as she can break 1200 ATK because of the minor innate gun mastery attached to the apron stacking on top of her already top-tier damage boosts.

I would like to stop pulling on this banner if possible. After spending 21 pulls between tickets and dailies I don't want to spend anymore.
I don't even want her for my Olive either as I'm content working towards a Monster Plate eventually.
I want her for my Ramza who I've saved all my crysts for after going overboard on Mog King events to stock pile enough Pure Crysts. Planning to pump straight to +2 when his Enhancements arrive.

Amelia is not limited. Her pull rate is awful because she has to complete with Ilsus (another 4*), which halves her draw rate to around a 2.4% chance to draw her. Likely, most of us will draw her as troll golds pulling for someone else on a different banner in the future.

Having Olive and a Ramza is probably why I'm getting abused on rates this banner.
The game knows I want her.
Now that I wasted my 4* ticket in frustration, I will never get Rikku either.
Not sure how well it works out, but how is a Olive, 2x Landu, Ramza (enhanced), Rikku team? Speaking in terms of future events and trials. I know story wise is a cake walk.
Should I go for Rikku or is there something else I should aim for?
Just trying to see where I should spend my lapis and when I should hold off.

I find LB to be relatively OK, since you can single target and possibly High Tide, depending on who you bring
but I missed an Esper evocation this morning because I couldn't build the bar fast enough in the 3 stages. I think I'll need to bring Garnet next time, but then I'm kinda worried that she's too fragile for later-stage content.
Raid ends 16th and summons end 22nd I believe. It's *usually* like that where the redemption ends a week later than the farming
