I've already pulled more than I should, and I've only actually seen one Alma.
Three yellows, all off-banner. Lots of other blues.

On the plus side, I got a Gilga off my 10+1 ticket (which I also shouldn't have used).

I should probably stop dailies. I'm sure I'll get Meliadoul and Orran eventually. Not too interested in Merc Ramza / Knight Delita. Other than liking FFT, not much reason to pull when I already have 75% x 4 (plus Ace to carry them all).

Man, Orran is so close to being a cool unit, too bad his reraise is locked behind a 25% chance. He's doing his job this week for me at least. Biora every round until boss, then 2x Alterna makes it easy. Can't just hit repeat, but at 25 NRG it goes fast anyways. If I skip on dailies and those ticket bundles. I can probably get up to 4x 10+1 pulls for (hopefully) Nier banner up next.

I just got my first giancryst from the mog king after getting the usual items (awakening mats, tickets, SC, materia). I might get the Defender but I'm thinking of skipping the Zwill Crossblade. This event is a huge drag though. I've seen 3 chocobos this whole time. These rates are abysmal. I still haven't spent any crysts so even though I know I should be trying to get as many as possible it's hard to find the motivation.

Naww . I did one Tix pull last friday, it was Gold Mercedes. Ill keep it this way. Got ~50 tix saved and more to come.

A few thoughts on the new FF4 units

True/Helmless Kain: Pretty flexible chainer with a Water/Wind/Dark capabilities. He can also chain non-elemental too with Sonic Gale. He has some strong jumps too, even better if/when jump gets updated for chaining. Dispel and Imperil is nice too. I'd say the only thing that's a little blah is that his selection of spears is a bit limited for now. There aren't any that are off-element and strong for him, i.e. Fire, Lightning, Light, Earth. There are a couple of weaker ones but that's about it.

Kid Rydia: Finally a new character with Tornado and Quake. This will help with 10-man fights a ton if you get her. Her summon abilities are pretty strong too and consider it's probably MAG/SPR hybrid it shouldn't have a problem dealing damage. She can even support your team with heals and raises if you give her a Dualcast materia. Biggest issue for her is simply MP. She'll chug through it quick and she only has 5% Refresh. Summon orbs are also a premium unless you generate yourself by using a character turn.

Yang: Uh, surprisingly strong for a 4-star unit. Full Power Attack is a 400%, 6-hit attack that he can use twice to do some work. If he has a compatible chainer and a proper element weapon, he can be solid.

Edward/Gilbert: Nice defense TM.

Thanks for impressions Shouta! FFIV is my favorite (though not best) FF. I was excited to see these units. I was really hoping for existing units like Adult Rydia and Edge to get buffs, but I'll take what I can get. I'll definitely be pulling for helmet-less Kain when he gets here.

Let's see: (assume: non-summoner, 1 DEF/SPR opponent for ease of math)

Bahamut 1* : (6000 on all stats, physical base damage), 20000% mod

[(6000 + 6000 + 3000 + 3000)^2 ]* 200 = (18000^2 * 200) = 64.8 billion base attack strength


Shiva 3* Level 60 : (magical base damage), 23500% mod

[(1980 + 2230 + 7020 + 7020)^2] * 235 = (18250^2 * 235) = ~78.27 billion base attack

Shiva 3* theoretical datamined Level 100, per Nazta:

[(2500 + 2850 + 7900 + 7900)^2] * 235 = (21150^2 * 235) = ~105.12 billion base attack


Big numbers are tasty. Current theory seems to be that 3* espers are being intentionally held back to avoid out power-creeping Bahamut too quickly and by too much at once. Still, at the current cap, Shiva 3* is possesses roughly 20% more attacking power than Bahamut.



Have to chuckle a bit over the analyses on various threads about Kid Rydia.

-- Anti-summoner bias? Check.
-- Anti-effort bias? ("You mean I actually have do more than just tap Auto/Repeat for a OTKO")? Check.


Bonus kudos for Global showing how well Fryevia can handle 800% hybrid damage to utterly destroy things, and along comes a unit with a 1500% hybrid attack. "Utter Trash". Jiminy Christmas, I don't even have to resort to using FF4 bias fallacies here.

Assume: (no equipped EVO MAG materias, so base EVO MAG = 60%, all other contraints are the same).

Kid Rydia has a special passive of magnifying the esper's stats junctioned to her specifically by 30% (as a bonus over being able to cast anyone's junctioned espers).

To recap from before:

Shiva 3* Level 60 : (magical base damage), 23500% mod

[(1980 + 2230 + 7020 + 7020)^2] * 235 = (18250^2 * 235) = ~78.27 billion base attack

------------

Kid Rydia: (magnifying stats by 30%, multiplying result by 160% for EVO MAG)

[(2574 + 2899 + 9126 + 9126) * 1.6]^2 * 235 = (37960^2 = 235) = ~338.23 billion base attack

(338.23 / 78.27) = ~432% - 100% = 332% damage increase


It's not even in the same league. Now, that's summoning power. And of course if you really want to go glass cannon, there's always the EVO MAG materias...

In terms of esper damage, Water Veritas's TM won't do anything at all. Esper damage only considers the stats of the esper in question and not that of the caster. Only EVO MAG affects the damage output of an esper. AFAIK, there is only the 10% craftables, her own TMR, and I think I read that there is a +15% on the newest Fat Chocobo.

That being said....

Kid Rydia's two partial gauge casts (the bomb and the water attack) are treated as hybrids, so to maximize that Water Veritas's TMR would be optimal in that situation.

I suppose there are three ways to build her, based on the situation:

1) Focusing on the full-summons: EVO MAG/ HP (balanced depending on how much you are willing to risk glass cannoning her)
2) Focusing on the hybrid partial summons: build as a caster hybrid (Water Veriras)
3) Focusing on tornado/quake chaining: build as pure caster

It was always imaginarily there, but never really got around to randomly formally attaching to the avatar to the account. I'm scatterbrained like that at times. Today, I guess I rolled a "rainbow" in that regard and went "Oh yeah, I should really get around to that today for once."

Kid Rydia repesents the first real summoning power creep since 6* Garnet was released. Eiko was a better white mage, but didn't really move the needle in terms of summoning damage (which is the reason why you actually summon espers 95% of the time). Via what is effectively a bonus EVO MAG +30% to the esper junctioned to her, Kid Rydia can actually put objectively measurable distance between herself and Garnet, as the actual formal esper damage formula is now known and it is simply a matter of running the numbers.
