Err...you've got it backwards. Enix bought Square after Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within tanked.
Oh crap, I think it was the opposite so their worst decision was to accept it : )

They will be doing this in addition, not instead of.
I meant instead of making us wait to play each installment - just finish the entire game and package all of it in one, ready to play experience multiple discs and all.
Waiting sucks.

You'd still be waiting a long, long time to play the full thing. Please tell me what the difference is.
ApathyI fucking hate this hobby.

Oh God....
Part 2 will begin with "Previously on Final Fantasy VII...." which show clips from the 1st game because it might be release a year later after part 1.![]()
Technically, yes, it's possible. But that doesn't mean the development team working on this title can.its not like you cant have a high fidelity scaled world map. they can and should
You're dreaming. If the releases were going to be so close with each other(1 every six months) there wouldn't a need to release the game in multiple parts. Our only hope is that SE puts the episodic FF7R on a tight release schedule. I really don't want to wait 1-2 years between story chunks. Then we run into a Half-Life 2 issue where we have to wait years between releases. At least the story in this case is done, but long breaks between would be terrible. One every six months would be preferable.
Not having to wait an unnecessarily long time when changing discs.
I'd rather wait to have the complete package rather than feel the agonizing pain of waiting to play the next disc because it's not out yet and wont be for a long time.
Something with the production values shown in that trailer, across the entirety of FFVII ?
With the amount of content in FFVII ?
That was never going to happen.
I don't understand. You know you don't have to buy the parts separately right? You can buy the full package when it's completed instead, right?
Tell me you understand this concept.

Pretty much exactly as it was in FF7, except the world map has both visible (and thus avoidable) encounters in addition to random ones. It is everything people are saying cannot be done today, and it came out on PS4 in March.

That's the point. I want everything redrawn. I want 2015 technology drawing beautiful cg backdrops that animate and look unbelievable.

when you scale things, it doesnt have to match the fidelity of the rest of the game. You create a nice illusionI see your point but I'm hoping for fidelity like Witcher 3 or even FFXV to match trailer graphics.
I don't see highwind gameplay possible in this circumstance.

This made me chuckle.Faithful remake, even including the disc swaps.

And you would be correct. The world map can never look like that. There is a great middle ground though were the style remains the same but the textures and such are really high quality, landscape has trees and grass rather than just scattered forrests etc. It would be great and eliminate the need to go back to the drawing board entirely.
I can't imagine they'll do less than 3 discs/episodes, but at the same time I can't think of 2 good stopping points in the series.
The original disc separation points don't work here.
Worth noting: there's all this talk of revamping and reimagining. Shifting things around to fit a three-feature deal, if indeed it's three games they're after, would logically follow.
