Nice with that classic image as cover. So fucking hyped for this game. It looks incredible. I hope SE knocks it out of the park with this.

They played it safe by going with that image, but it's understandable.

I wonder if Europe will get the centred logo on a plain white background.

Its beautiful. Final Fantasy doesn't need elaborate covers. I was happy with just the plain white covers Japan does. It is elegant and holds a lot of mystery for what the game is.

Meh, logo on white is always better. That's what we used to get here in Europe. It's a shame we've been infected by the US style.

FF covers used to be special and timeless, like signaling an event almost. Now they're just yet another cover that will most likely age poorly.

I was expecting a ton of "Look! It doesn't say Only On PlayStation!!" comments.
Kind of disappointed...

It's nice and simple. I'm ok with that.

Cover looks great, obviously it wasn't ever going to be anything other than this shot

That's one hell of a box art, almost a replica of the classic. Here's hoping they have a replica of the back of the box.

Reminding myself that its going to be released in multiple parts; all I can think about is this:

Safe but cool cover. Still think it's weird (bordering on wondering if it's even legal) to not call it "part 1" or something.

Its going to be in 3 or 4 parts. Full game broken up over course of a year i think

It's not one game divided into multiple parts like, say, Life is Strange.
They'll divide the story into multiple "full" games and expand each part to accommodate for it. The first game will focus on Midgar which in the original was around 5 hours, now it's going to be 30+.

You should expect the next part to be another full sized RPG to release years from now

I wouldn't be surprised if SE uses remakes of the art renders that appeared on original's disc change screen as the cover art for each instalment.

There isn't any legality that I'm aware of as to how games are named. Technically speaking, Square Enix could release a game called "Kingdom Hearts Remake" but instead of Sora and the gang it would just be a generic match-three puzzle game with no Disney characters. Whether it will affect the game's sales, how much consumer backlash there would be, and whether it would be damaging to their brand are all risk assessments I'm sure they've already done.

Even still, there will be a lot of fans that buy this without knowing it'll be split into parts then getting to the end of Midgar and going "I remember there used to be more to this game..."

Still can't believe the extent Square are going all-in on this, giving it the AAAA treatment when I just expected a small scale fan service.

It's absolutely awesome :messenger_smiling_hearts: :messenger_smiling_hearts: :messenger_smiling_hearts:

Not so much hype, if you factor in the misleading marketing strategy by Square-Enix.
They don't communicate it so clearly that this is only the 1st episode that consumers are getting in March.

Moreover if you factor in how long the development cycles of Tetsuya Nomura-directed games are, then you ask yourself "when is episode 2 gonna arrive really?... " (KH3 unveiled at E3 2013, released Jan 2019 ; FFVIIRemake unveiled at E3 2015, first episode arrives March 2020)

See that? Another example. People are just misled and misdirected. Nicely played by Square-Enix
Episode 1 or full game?

Off topic, I'm looking to get my account banned/deleted. Anyone know how to do this? I'm a junior member, I can't pm any mods and there's literally no way for me to figure this out.

Nothing against the site, I'm just all set with posting on the internet. Gamefaqs and Resetera are both gone now and I want this gone too.
