Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 won't be a PS6 exclusive, its producer promises.Yoshinori Kitase assures players that even though Remake and Rebirth were exclusive to PS4 and PS5 respectively, the trend won't continue.

In an interview with Japanese publication 4Gamer, Kitase had it put to him by the interviewer that "for those who have played FF7 Remake on PS4 and FF7 Rebirth on PS5, I think there may be some concern that the third work will be for the next generation console".

OP is misleading. He's saying it won't be exclusive to PS6 at launch, not that it won't be exclusive to PS5 at launch. It's very likely they have a timed exclusivity contract with Sony.

FF7 remake was only "supposed" to exclusive for a year on PS4, we see how that played out.

If they stick to UE4 then I think it has a shot of being out by the end of 2027, in line with the 30th anniversary of the original.

If they've moved it to UE5 then I could see it releasing in 2028 or early 2029 and cross-gen between PS5/6 and PC at launch.

It should be noted that Kitase's comments don't necessarily mean Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 won't be exclusive to PlayStation consoles when it's released, simply that it won't be exclusive to PS6.

With the context that "there is concern it will be next gen" it's safe to assume he means it's going to be on PS5 at the very least.

Of course not. But poor sales due to exclusivity is just one problem that team has. There's no reason their games should cost what they do to make. They need to completely gut that company and start over from scratch.

Why would you want this? Square has been in the financial hole the last few years because of this. If you want them to keep making Final Fantasy Games especially with them being third party then they need to extend the olive branch to other platforms. The more revenue they get for these games the more they produce.
