As described under “Getting Started” in the first post, Legacy characters are currently restricted to legacy servers. Even when the server transfer service becomes available, they will be unable to move to “new” servers for several months. New characters can be made on either new or legacy servers. The primary difference is that no character on new servers will be older than than the Phase 4 Beta. Measure the pros and cons of both, though minor and temporary, and make a decision for yourself.

Forcing SGSSAA (Nvidia Inspector)

Step 1: Download and unzip in a safe place. http://www.techspot.com/downloads/50...inspector.html
Step 2: Open Nvidia Inspector and on the right side in the middle area is a red box with a spanner and screwdriver, click it.
Step 4: Box prompt, name the new profile whatever you like (FFXIV:ARR)
Step 5: Now you have your new profile made, click the icon two icons to the right of the yellow sun icon.
Step 6: Add ffxiv.exe from the SquareEnix/FINAL FANTASY XIV - A Realm Reborn (Beta Version)/game directory.
Step 7: Copy the settings in this image directly: http://i.imgur.com/V8Lvya2.png
Step 8: For Antialiasing compatibility you MUST type in 0x004012C5 as it will not show in the drop down.
Step 9: Click apply changes.
Step 10: Done.

Down-sampling

Refer to this Neogaf thread by Corky for detailed step-by-step instructions.

When using down-sampling you will notice much higher contrast, I encourage players to fiddle with the in-game screen gamma settings to fix this to your liking.

SweetFX

SweetFX works with AMD and Nvidia hardware alike.

SweetFX is a visual enhancement suite which can alter tonality, contrast add HDR and Bloom among many other things. It is in effect an active "photoshop" filter for games.

To install place unzipped files in both /SquareEnix/FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn (Beta Version)/game and /SquareEnix/FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn (Beta Version)/boot directories. You can alter the settings in your SweetFX_settings.txt. I also recommend adjusting your in game gamma.

Not only do I expect issues during Early Access but I also anticipate a rough launch [at least for the first couple days].

It likely won't affect me as well as it might others, since I probably won't have my PC CE until a week after launch, but I'm really hoping that the above doesn't come to pass. I know how insufferable Open Beta/Phase 4 was, so if that process repeats itself [which it likely will]...

Let us hope that does not happen.

If an MMO is even remotely anticipated by players, launch will be a clusterfuck. That's just how MMO launches are. And then you compound it by being Squenix, who are just astonishingly incompetent at MMO publishing basics, and it just becomes an amazing suicide run.

The game is still amazing though, so I guess we have to put up with this crap.

I really didn't have much interest in this until I tried the Phase 4 Beta. Now I can barely wait to explore the world of Eorzea. Everything about this games presentation and atmosphere is just perfect for drawing you into it. The music, beautiful vistas and great community. I hope this game turns out well because I haven't been this hyped for an MMO in quite a while

Oh, meant to ask this a bit ago. Did they ever state the specifics of what that first 30-day Veteran rewards can alter about your character? I assume it can alter appearance at base level, but mayhaps gender as well. What I'm wondering is if it'll let players change their names if it can indeed alter that and even things like race or even name as well.

Just to be sure, veteran time won't be processed till things like the 'Welcome Back' program and free month time blocks are up, correct? Figuring out when that'd be due to slightly messing up my 1.0 character when I went to change the appearance and such. Believe I saw the potion or at least some time of service being mentioned in this past Live Letter, but wasn't sure to what extent for either.
