Hey what is the best DPS/support class? Basically I would like to do some damage for soloing and a back up healer/buffer for partying. Bard a good class for that?

He might be.

The ground effects that show where the attack will hit are screwy as hell. In GW2 or WoW if you get out of the area before the red disappears you don't get hit...end of story. In this game you may or may not get it, it's different for each attack, and the ground marker only shows you where it's going to hit, not when. I can't tell you how many times I've been nailed by attacks long after I've moved out of the warning effects in this game, and it's not lag because everything else has no delay. There is really no rhyme or reason to it either, some attacks you have be out almost as soon as the warning shows up, others you can stand in right until they are about to disappear.

I guess that might be my issue, I assumed the attack would never hit until the marked area disappeared. I guess from now on I'll immediately jump out of it.

Am I the only person using Stun abilities to stop some of these attacks?

I've only had one dungeon run so far where someone was consistently stunning mobs when they began their attacks.

Another 90k error way far from any santuary. Fuck.

Well at least managed to run 2 dungeons.

Any tips for the last boss on Brayfox's Longstop? We wiped a few times and only have 15 minutes left. I'm also running out of mana while healing.

Our tank seems to be out of the rectangle but still gets hit.

Lag basically, sometimes is not that bad but the tight timing makes it quite hard to evade. Myself I had runs I got barely hit and other I keep getting hit. The only way to be sure you evade it is move as soon as you see the damn thing and keep running even if you thing you're safe.

It seemed like no one knew that stuns can interrupt enemies for the first couple days. I didn't figure it out until after a day or so either :p
Some are very hard hitting/insta-deaths, and given you have the chance of missing/the boss being immune, it seems to make more sense to me to simply try to get out if you can.
also this
fuck final sting

And stun has recast timers as well, so I know it's not something to rely on every time, but I never hear anyone mention it.

I came from FFXI, so when I saw stun I figured they kept the mechanic in place.

I guess... there really isn't any kind of support class in this game though.

I use them on mobs pretty consistently, but never bosses as usually they are immune and its really risky.

I use them all the time. I don't see any risk. They are off the GC for MRD and LNC at least.

This game makes my GPU run unusually hot.

It starts springing some weird shadow artifacting quite consistently after long periods of play.

I'm hoping it's actually not GPU related and its just some weird thing that can be fixed via firmware.

Does anyone know of a resource that lists the available quests by level? The reason I ask is because going through the game I noticed plenty of times where there were random locked lvl 30ish and 40ish quests throughout various areas. Now that I am level 43 I am curious about all the ones I missed.

I know some of them are for dungeons and I have all those covered because of another list I found. But what about the ones that aren't?

Hooray I'm finally a Black Mage. Now I need to up my sleep game in these dungeons. I watch this guy form my FC work Magic with is sleep skills in Haukke Manor

Oh, I guess I meant I don't use the LNC stun to stop aoes on bosses, but I do put it in my rotation.

If the tanks are not total shit, you shouldnt be the only one using stun.

There's nothing to stun on the later dungeons, most bosses will resist it or are outright immune. And even if you could, you won't be thinking about stuns while you're dodging a bunch of touhou crap the bosses are flinging at you and your party.

Damn, JPN servers seem to be down for the count.

Yes

I went to see the odin fate today on gilgamesh..

The weather in the zone when he spawns is just awesome..

They got him to 1% but he used zantetsuken and everyone died.. hundreds dead.. including me.. was totally worth the trip.

You have to make limit breaks when he charges zantetsuken to kill him.

Damn, looks like they pulled physical copies off of the shelves in Japan as well. So bummed - wanted to get started on my day off today.

Is it uncouth for me to ask if anyone has a NA or JP (CE or not, don't care) key for sale?

I know this may be too broad a question, but for DPS should I go more towards Monk or Bard? I know Bard's are supposed to be fun, but aren't they relied for a lot of their support abilities for the party?

They even did it to the PS3 versions?

Btw if you are expecting to heal as a bard might want to forget about that idea since they changed it from the beta and no longer can they use healing skills as secondaries.

No, the PS3 version was available. Sorry I didn't clarify.

Thanks, Flutter. PM'd that guy :)

If you are looking just for DDing, then Monk is the better choice. Bard DDs too but it also has support skills with its songs so you'll take a hit in damage to provide the party a few benefits (mostly MP or TP regen).

Thanks! I'm just wondering if more parties would prefer s Bard for the benefits they'd provide, or a Monk for the slightly better damage. Could be a case by case basis. Bard's are long range like archers too, aren't they?

I'm playing Bard right now and the MP regen is really helpful for my Healer/SMN buddies. I've noticed the regen on it is fantastic so I'm pretty okay with taking a hit to my damage. Also, you are a ranged DD, so you can easily get out of range for some stuff. And Silence is really really great.

Bard is super fun!

Btw any of you here own one of these? Logitech G13. Am looking to potentially pick one up for this game. As hate trying to use all the skills from a standard KB.

In case anyone was wondering. I found the answer to my question: http://ffxiv.gamerescape.com/wiki/Category:Sidequest

Well that was a good night's sleep since I crashed last night, got in now in one try but I missed the lvl50 mission runs :(

I think I'm going to do marauder with my friends (who couldn't log in since launch), hopefully I won't keep falling behind without the story quests as padding between dungeons.
