Are you supposed to get down the wall before the bees? We've never been able to do it, not even close..

Nah, it's just my own way of making the AK grind less boring. Like getting the first boss down with him only summoning one small golem or the last boss before he summons the second add.

Nah, you can only do that having great gear.

Also, why do people call them bees, I mean seriously.

Are they wasps? I dunno man, used to just LB one in the fact and the other would be half dead by then. Dunno what they actually are.

Gnats... sorta look like beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees.

It's the same reason people call enmity Threat.
Call cone AoE's Cleaves...
Calling provoke Taunt?
Call characters Toons
god forbid
DPS vs DD

Etc etc

Looks nothing like a bee, if anything they look like flies.

This is a bee (or wasp) in ARR:

Yeah, fuck those bees. We had one get pulled while we were still finishing up the boss, and I had to run the dungeon again for the Hunting Log entry because I was dead when the fight was over.

What's so bad about the bees?

Literally nothing.
People just panic when they appear since they have to dodge Demon Wall's AoE and the gnat AoE if the tank doesn't stun them or keep them away.

They're not hard, it's just another mechanic to dodge amid a bunch already in place.

Whoops talking about the wrong bees

Yes other bees pull Final Sting on you and slap an unsuspecting person down in a heartbeat.
They look like regular ol bees though.

Our tank decides to leave after not doing so well against the last boss of Brayflox. We had 15 minutes left and we were close to leaving, then a PLD shows up at the 8 minute mark and didn't even say anything. He already knew what to do, he tanked the final boss and lured him out of the poison pools. We freakin' clutched it! Got my Infantry pants :p

As someone pointed out, AK and Ifrit will do you fine. You're about where you should be.

AK is designed for fresh-ish 50s, despite what most people think, so you can run it easily, especially because you have a i55 weapon.
Frankly, gear is dramatically over-valued, just like it was in FF11 for a while. I was able to heal HM Ifrit and Garuda, AK, Wanderer's no problem in my gear. Yesterday, I came online and some people in the FC were really needing a healer for Hydra -- a fight I knew nothing about, and wasn't ready to do for my own sake by any means -- since their last one ragequit due to the number of wipes they'd had, so I joined to help out. We finished on the first try, no problems. Healing it was a cinch. Then a little later the topic of relic weapon came up and people were shocked to find that I had a level 35 weapon on and I was only in AF besides a darklight earring. My gear is definitely not good, but gear only gets you so far. Knowing how to play your class is the most important thing. Obviously gear, especially weapon, is a bit more important for a DPS class, but a player who knows how to get the maximum damage out of their skills in many situations will be able to make up for a gear deficiency in a lot of cases.

That said, I also think people get way too uppity if you die a couple of times. Especially if people don't know the fight(s). Last night I did AK with two new people, and I told them before the demon wall fight, straight up: we're most likely gonna die the first time, even after I did my best to explain what happens. It's a weird fight, and you kinda have to see it to really understand what's going on. Once they had a feel for what actually happens in the fight, we won with no problems.

Just started grinding Fates in North Thanlaan (three levels until 50), and had my first contact with the endgame community ... a lovely gang.

Conversation #1:
Group was searching for Amdapor Keep members. One damage dealer wanted to join, but got verbally abused. The reason: he is a "low life casual" who does not even have a Relic+1 weapon.

Conversation #2:
Another Amdapor Keep group was also searching for member, with the following requirements: Relic+1, Darklight and a payment of 20k.

I am so NOT looking forward to those level 50 story dungeons xD

Literally never, ever did Titan as a DD, always as a tank.
Jump in there decked out on Toxes gear and a Garuda bow for my first time ever. EVER.
Was shitting bricks since everyone said it was incredibly difficult to dodge.

We made it to 10% on the first try and only died because someone died from lag.
Hell I didn't even have Windbite on my BRD then...

They're not story and you can and should avoid these ass hats.

Some of the gear requirements are definitely getting ridiculous. I've seen people shouting that they're looking for people with relics or lots of Darklite gear just do to Castrum.

Never in the history of all MMO's I've played have I seen RMT run as rampant as they are here.

It's disgusting. It's as if they're trying their hardest to destroy the game. Every time I go to a main city, I see a wall of spam. Every time I log on, I get 15 tells.

It's starting to get real old, real fast.

Man... so I was playing XI during this one winter... Was it 05'?
Let me tell you about RMT running a game's economy into the ground then pissing on it.

That Mogstation logo...someone pointed out what it looks like and now I can't view it any other way...highlight at your own risk...

Imagine Mog is facing away from you, bending over

Oiy oiy XD

To be fair, the groups that communicate primarily via shouts, seem to lean a bit more heavily towards having poor social skills. The people on GAFs guild for instance, generally seem to be fairly helpful and patient, I can't imagine they're the only guild like this.

Yes, I had to stop playing around then because I simply could not make enough money to buy all of the stuff the community decided I had to have to be invited to anything. The prices were just insane. It was like 17 million for a stupid vermillion cloak.

I stopped playing for about a year and a half after that.
Came back to find that my 14m that was maybe good enough for once piece of gear I needed made me FUCKING RICH after the STF wrecked the RMT's shit.

Yeah, its kind of intimidating reading all the shouts in Mor Dhona as a new endgame player.

They already stated content updates are coming every 3 months. So even if they do add more endgame content in the next update, players will eat through it in a week or 2 and go back to whining. They also have to release content that is not endgame to keep other portions of the population happy. PVP and Housing are two items supposedly part of the next update too.

People who rush through content and eat up the endgame and only care about that are just going to be disappointed, as they get with every MMO. No dev has shown they can keep player base satisfied when it comes to endgame and a constant flux of just adding on progression to it does not really help in the long term.

The problem isn't just endgame. More concerning IMO are Fates, particularly their effect on raising secondary combat classes in the absence of story missions or quests. Obviously everyone recognizes Fates are the most thought-less, skill-less, and easy-mode combat leveling mechanic ever devised for a game. Right now I'm sure most people think they're great, but it's like letting a dog eat til it gets sick. The speed and ease of leveling removes any sense of accomplishment or value, makes dungeons and low-mid-level gear meaningless, and allows players to reach cap with no idea how to play a class. Long term, they're boring as shit and basically a free hand out of lvl 50's--simple as that. This is a fundamental problem for a MMO, and one that can not be corrected for at this point without mass exodus and outrage as players are too acclimated to exploiting them. They missed the nerf window week 1.

I haven't seen anything like the insane reqs people seem to be demanding on Ultros. I'm on Balmung tho. Legacy = more skilled player base? (Gross generalization obviously)

Hell no, Legacy players can be absolutely terrible.
The only benefit we have is that the majority of us have a huge diversity in job/class sets and gear. Maybe money too.

Other than that, it's a fleeting advantage.

crafting gods

what's more efficient to use, Waste Not or Ruminate?

Ruminate is an oh-shit button. Don't use it unless you absolutely need the CP or you will not be able to complete the craft. I personally have been using Steady Hand, Waste Not, and Hasty Touch all together. Use Tricks of the Trade when the material is Good, Standard Touch when it is Excellent.

I'd say Titan is the first fight where a hard gear check comes into play. You really need DPS to take down the heart or you wipe and as far as healing goes if you don't have the gear you won't be able to outheal the tumult damage. Still pretty impressive to do HM Garuda with a lvl 35 weapon.

Garuda can be whittled down eventually. I've gone 5 full rotations from center to all the way around with a group who had horrid, horrid DPS as the tank, but they never stopped and did it.

Titan on the other hand, you expend so much energy, it's difficult as hell to string that battle out longer than it absolutely has to.

You pretty much can't. As the fight goes on his tumult does more and more damage, it'll get to the point where the healers wont be able to heal through it and wipe them out.

Yeah, we did HM Garuda in a group with three tanks, went... two rotations I want to say? It was fine. Wars can do solid dps, not that you'll ever be able to convince the community at large of that fact. Hell it was easier on the healers too, since neither of us needed much looking after.

Titan is definitely a partial gear check and an absolute execution check. dps/healers need around ~3.3k hp to be safe, otherwise the final phase unavoidable aoe damage is going to strain healers to the limit when they're dealing with that and huge 4k hits on the tank periodically.

The really, really, really frustrating thing about the Titan fight is that it IS puggable, I KNOW it is, but until people start memorizing the plume aoe patterns, it's going to remain wipe hell.

I'm increasingly thinking its bad design to have pass/fail aoes, these are avoidable and predictable, but the way the fight is set up, one person slipping up or lagging for a second can ruin a ten minute fight for the entire party, and that's pretty unfriendly.

I'll do some more attempts later because I hate myself :D

The FATE issue will be self-correcting. The entire problem is that they have multiplicatively better returns the more players are on them, so once the population who needs 50 right away -gets- 50 the "tear through mobs between fates" style will become more rewarding.

There will also be a HUGE rewards drop as soon as the amount of DPS present gets below mobs insta-dying and BLMs can no longer stand at spawn hitting Blizzaga forever at no risk to themselves.

This will make some people mad, but it will be a gradual weaning (as off times and lower areas fade first) and one where the dev team can claim they changed nothing.
