why would you need to play your ps3 version anyways after ps4? ;x
its literally the same game, but more visually spiffy.
When the ps4 dies from next gen yellow light of death/red ring or whatever, you'll want to have a ps3 as back up!

Some people say Brayflox is the first "hard" dungeon, and I point to Quarn every time. Outside of a few choice boss fights I have yet to see anything that filled me with more dread than those Quarn bees. The first time one of those one-shotted my (good!) tank while i was healing I did a massive jawdrop/double-take and thought I had lagged or something til my party explained what was up. Then i saw the first boss summon some and knew sh*t was getting real. Last boss is no joke either.
But according to that other thread, hardware failure isn't a thing that exists or ever existed. When the ps4 dies from next gen yellow light of death/red ring or whatever, you'll want to have a ps3 as back up!

No. The majority of the FF11 game was leveling at launch and for a while after. It took months and some people even years to reach the cap on one job.on that note, reaaaally curious how many people will be around when ps4 version comes around.
Was FF11 that easy to hit cap and blast through the content hardcore at launch?

Well, things are pretty different now. You can solo for decent experience for quite a while now, and you can hit the cap in one day with grounds of valor and Abyssea parties. Such a weird game now.Nope. You can't solo past Lv 10 (excluding BST) without wanting to kill yourself because mobs will eat you for breakfast, even if they check as even matches or decent challenges.
Your only choice then was to start partying in groups of 6 and as a DPS class you were looking for parties most of the time.
When I returned in April, I was really sad to find earlier places completely deserted. Especially Whitegate/Al Zahbi. I originally quit the game right after ToAU so I missed out on all of that stuff. I think coming to the realization that I really missed the boat on that content made me a lot less enthusiastic about returning to the game. It didn't help that Adoulin did not click with me at all. Not a fan at all.I really think at that point they just said "fuck it, most our playerbase has already run 1-75 countless times" and made it as easy as possible to start working on 76-99. I was fine with this, but the 76-99 leveling and content just didn't grab me.
I wasn't even that rushed to hit cap in XI. There were just so many other interesting things to do and progress on other than the straight 1-75.
Tanked Qarn with a PUG last night.. first time I've felt helpless in a dungeon, heh. We wiped to the first boss 5-6 times because the DPS just couldn't kill the bees fast enough, and it seemed like everyone else thought we were dying to doom. It wasn't doom, it was the 1k+ damage from final sting. Promise.
After we struggled past that boss and made our way to the temple guardian, we consistently died when he starts ignoring enmity and attacking whoever he wants. I'm not sure how you guys got this far in the game without learning that the big, obvious red marking on the ground is the place you need to move out of. I can't stun his attacks, I'm still way at the top of the enmity list and the blind from flash isn't enough to make it okay for you to wait until you finish casting to move out of the range of his attack.
I guess this is something people run into earlier with tanks not doing their job? But as an at the very least competent tank (judging from the horror stories on here), things haven't been too rough up until now. Ugh.

I think it's best to focus on the "easier" leves if you are interested in leve grinding. I think the design intent for some of these leves were to have a way to turn in/use items you were already making, particularly if one had a surplus. Surely there is at least one leve at level 15 for your craft that says "turn in 3-5 of X?" Focus on those more. Some of the leves are definitely not worth doing, but there's usually 1-2 out of a tier that are.
40-50 Alchemy was basically gained off a single repeatable leve in the highlands for me, and while I was extremely pissed that the base material dropped from very specific mobs in very specific areas that were constantly being camped and farmed for the entire day I monitored them, when i gave up and headed to the auction house i ended up breaking even. If I had got to farm, i would have made significant $, for maybe a solid day's worth of playtime, and I might have gotten to farm if i had been more "patient" (yea right lol).
What you are describing sounds to me more like the issues I had with 1.0, except that was when i was trying to upgrade from the lvl 1 Rusty tool I got to a lvl 5 item. Now THAT sucked.
Edit; Also I forgot to mention but the rewards change, and sometimes I was getting a cache of 48 crystals (x 3 turn ins so 144) as a reward for one leve. It's really not clear sometimes on the best way to go about it and i'm not an armorer so i can't give extra details, but you sound like you are making it way harder than it needs to be.

As for the PS3 to PS4 upgrade. How will they check if you are elegible for a free download of the PS4 client with a retail PS3 copy? Can the PSN check for a PS3 FFXIV disc in the tray to unlock the PS4 version download?
No, no, no, no, no. Ifrit weapon is sufficient. Stop putting people in a catch 22 where they must have the gear a dungeon provided (in large part) to run it.if you're dps you need DL gear since AK has some major DPS checks).
Even saying you have to have the Ifrit weapon is crazy. Consider that you are required to run AK to get access to the GC weapon that is worse than Ifrit's weapon. I've run it fine with people who had neither. The darklight weapon from WP does help a lot, though, but so does your unfinished relic weapon, that is the one that you have to slot materia into (which I've seen on a lot of people, and which has served them just fine)No, no, no, no, no. The weapons I recommended are level 50. And I'm sorry you don't believe it, but I've run AK what feels like 50 times now with all kinds of different setups. Besides, as I pointed out, logic dictates that the dungeon is not designed with a weapon as good as Ifrit's in mind based on the fact that you have to complete AK to unlock the highest GC rewards.I find that hard to believe as we simply couldn't kill the adds on the first boss fast enough. I had a pink ilevel 45 weapon at the time and AF armor. I was told to run Wanderer's Palace instead.

If you're running Brayflox as a CNJ/THM/WHM/BLM, here's a good tip for ya: You can put the second mid-boss to sleep. Give that sucker the snooze while your tank/DPS take out the add that pops up with Brayflox for an easier time.
...Of coure, that's if you aren't running with randoms that ignore the add and keep hitting the main target anyway.
its quite interesting. everyone wants to be like WoW, but it's uneven playing field... people whine and hate on hard grindy mmos, but those keep you in it for a while because there was always that carrot. Pretty much every recent mmo, i've blasted through in a month or 2 and never looked back.
catch 22...
The disc is actually just a launcher. I never even put it in the tray since I had the beta already. It comes with a code for a PSN copy. Even my CE just had a code for a CE digital copy.
The way FFXI is now, you can level from 1 to 30 solo in several hours of solo play on any class. Then you just get in an Abyssea pt and level to 99 while afk. Takes about 5 to 6 hours. Of course there's still 22 jobs to level so yeah, it takes a while, but very little effort. FFXI & FFXIV share the whole max level players not knowing WTF they are doing thing.
FFXI doesn't even have gear dmg. You lose a tiny amount of XP that you easily get back in 3 minutes.
FFXIV is even going to add a "here, you can win now" buff to fights as new patches are released. When you lose several times to a fight, you get a buff that makes the fight easier. I imagine it won't help people that can't dodge without a boss mod blaring warning klaxons at them though. Man some people fail hard at Titan HM.
I don't mind having really challenging elements in a game at all. It may slow progression, but it gives me a chance to get better acquainted with my character and play more skillfully. Nothing feels better than finally nailing a difficult encounter by using what you've developed from multiple failed attempts.
I fucking hate grinding with a passion, though. As I'm running from fate to fate for these last few levels, I'm thinking of all the more fun things I can be doing. I don't feel I'm learning how to play my character better, and the only difficulty lies in the reward tied to grouping mechanics, rather than the encounter itself.
Can't wait to get over the hump so I can finish the main story. I just hope running AK won't become stale as fast as I think it will.
Hard mode dungeons and experience tweaks can't come soon enough.
that hump is honestly whats keeping me away. If this game was all about FATEs from level 1, i'd be fine.... but i leveled fine up until early 40s from main scenario + side events and the occasional fate... there is zero excuse why there isn't more side events around (leves aren't the same >.<) at the end.

Leves are really no different from the rest of the quests in the game. The game side quests are the most generic quests you can find in a MMO outside of perhaps TERAs. Leves are essentially same exact thing just that they can be repeated.
For many people, level from 1 is nothing but FATEs, they get in, and immediately go into fate grinds since it is fastest way to get xp.
i never got how that worked. in the starting areas there are barely any fates and tons of down time between them.
the difference between leves and sideevents is that leves are mostly near the town area while side stuff gets you to explore the world a bit which makes it more fun for me.

It's completely full. 512 members. That said, half (at best) are active. Maple culls inactive dudes every week, it seems.Damn, the GAF guild must be really full. I have already seen a few of you running around. If you see Ayperos Ray salute you, that's me.
So I have no more quests, nor more hunting log left. Rank 2 isn't open for me yet, I guess I have to do Satasha to continue forward?

Because even fewer people talk or participate.Wow, how do you even follow guild chat? lol.

Only about 100-150 are on at a time, and even then less than 20 people chat regularly.Wow, how do you even follow guild chat? lol.
