Final Fantasy XIV: Stormblood |OT| Y'all Need to Calm Down

As a former WoW player that quit shortly after Legion and tried ARR when it first relaunched, how difficult will it be for me to jump in? I'm looking at playing on my Pro and going controller + keyboard (for chat)

I'm currently reading through Lodestone to apprise myself of the mechanics.

You should be fine, the game plays really well on a controller.

Unggggghhh I want those extreme mounts but I'm only 66 almost 67 lol I'll finally be able to do the 65 dungeon since my friend is caught up tonight.

I know people are discussing the difficulties but I'm kind of glad the extremes aren't terribly hard. I'm sure what comes out after will make up for their difficulty and plus I want those mounts bad. Not only that but the game hasn't been out that long and if people are running out of content or are bored that's because they rushed through to finish everything.

I don't use a controller, but gameplay wise you'll prob fit right in. It plays pretty similarly to WoW, but with some twists.

I can't really get a read on Alisaie's character so far though. Currently neutral since she hasn't had much to do with so many characters contending with screentime. I think Heavensward made a smart decision of cutting down the starting cast to just WoL, Alphinaud, and Tataru. Stormblood on the otherhand starts with a huge returning cast. I'm still enjoying the story, but the set up isn't as strong for me.

Granted, my like of her is less on story value per se and more that she basically just snarks a lot and seems just as loathe as I am at some plot contrivances.

Not only that but the game hasn't been out that long and if people are running out of content or are bored that's because they rushed through to finish everything.

Who said anything about being bored or out of content?

You'd fit in easily, but there is quite a bit of content to do before you get to SB.

Dunno... she wants to help with the revolution? I get why she wants to tag along but, where I am (Azim Steppe), you've got:

Badass samurai Roe who was apparently leader of the revolution and one of the best samurai in the land.

You've got badass ninja lady who is leader of the current resistance.

Hien is the rightful heir to the crown of Doma (and totally hot)

Elf woman... well she is borderline too but she's seen a lot of action in Coil and her grandfather was one of the most powerful mages in the land so fair enough

Then you've got... fake Yda.

I'm not skipping but it's highly possible I missed something... did I miss something?
You're thinking about it in terms of stereotypical roles within a story, rather than developing roles as characters.

Since you're up to Azim Steppe, it's probably safe for you to read:
In the context of exploring this foreign land, where you get to meet
the leader of the Confederacy and learn how their 'nation' works and how their leadership operates
the odd area under the Ruby Sea which has its own small form of governance and how their leader looks out for his people
the suppressed people of Doma and learn how their population struggles to live and why they live the way they do
the wild tribes of Azim and how their cultures and traditions bring forth their leaders and lifestyles

What do you think the purpose of Lyse coming along on this journey was? Even before the story said it explicitly, I could tell that the story was about
Lyse experiencing, learning, and growing into the role of a leader so she could eventually go back and spearhead the Ala Mhigan Resistance.
In the past she walked forward with the guidance and shielding of Papalymo and the
guise of her dead sister
, but when she has neither of those to fall back on Lyse is positioned shape herself.

Yeah, I haven't mained SMN in awhile but Bahamut-egi allure was a pretty big "Man, do I still alt SMN?" moment. But then the details and starting to poke around initial rotational things and all the new SMN clunk back in the media tour time made me question that. And then it hit and was that clunky mess it looked like it would be. I'm glad the job seems to be performing really well in real world testing but damn if the process of the whole job doesn't seem unfun now.

I feel like 2 things SE could do that would be a pretty good step in the right direction is first, maybe just change Aetherflow a bit. Either have it like in HW where you'll still get up to 3 flow stacks regardless, or just flat out lock off Aetherflow if you have 3 trail stacks. They could even merge it with DWT into one button, because no one is going to be using Aetherflow skills sitting on a full set with DWT ready to go, and no one is going to use it for just the MP regen alone.

Second, just get rid of the pet action delay entirely. If they can solve this for Enkindle Bahamut in PvP, there is absolutely no reason that people should still be mashing contagion or Enkindle and still have pets be unresponsive as fuck almost 4 years into this class.

Edit: Actually, thinking about PvP, just have Summon Bahamut and Enkindle Bahamut just be the same damn button in PvE too. What, did they think someone is actually going to try to un-summon Bahamut when he hits the field and thus they needed a separate button?

Alisaie is the only character in the game who having a real life conversation with wouldn't give me a headache.

Thank fuck for the frontlines exp. I would have gone mad levelling SAM to 60 with the current dps queues.

Frontlines is certainly wearing thing, but it doesn't take long and the queue is instant.

Level 65 and I keep seeing glimpses of Zenos being a potentially great villain but he keeps reverting to being such a tired trope. It doesn't even make sense. He's being an Ardyn. Just kill someone already and give me a reason to want to take you down.

He's slightly more interesting than Nidhogg at least.

Who said anything about being bored or out of content?

I mentioned that they're going to fail to sustain midcore content for four months, but that's as close as it got.

The "it's your fault you're bored!" retort is up there with "Ravana and Bismarck weren't all that hard either!" responses in things I totally Do Not Get. I'm saying Lakshmi and Susano in week 1 gear are easier than Bis and Ravana were in week 1 gear. The general community reaction to both sets seems to prove this out; that people now want to pitch Bis and Ravana as fairly easy doesn't change that Lakshmi and Susano are easier, it just means that if we're now calling Bis and Ravana easy the SB primals have to be... like.. super easy.

Ardyn is better than any of the villains in Stormblood atm, imo.

Was just listening to youtube videos hightlighting community thoughts. Were people pissed that dark knight was a tank? It seems people want a dark knight without the responsibility. They want a claymore sword DPS character.

They need to fix Bloodspiller on Dark Knight.

This ability should be not a GCD.

It fucks up the flow too much. I could get behind Dark Knight but just seeing that gauge fill get to 100 and with Delirium on cooldown fills me with dread because that means I have to use Shitspiller again.

I'm sure we're tired of the long queue posts, but honest question: Did we get an update after hearing about the DDOS attack? Still getting 2500 queues on Cerberus.

None of the blood gauge stuff should honestly.

Blood Spiller animation is amazing though and it hits like a truck.

Agreed. One of the thing I hated the most about fell cleave/decimate. Using a non combo/aoe ability on GCD always feel awful.

Is that volcanic island in the Ruby Sea suppose to be based off of Oni Island from Japanese folklore? I illustrated a book and made the island look kind of like a monster face with horns based off refrences I found. It looks almost exactly like mine.

Made a guide on how to get 30 quickly on Preferred/New servers for the free 15days subs if anyone was wondering, actually only takes ~3hours if you do it right which is pretty fast. If you don't like Reddit, the TL;DR is make a Limsa class, get to 10, do class quest, then change to Fisher and level to 30 with fishing. It's really fast with xp buff especially with the SB earring/xp hats.

So POTD 51-60 drops 60 verity at 70.

A nice alternative to dungeons if you want something different. If you got a speed clear group together you could probably make 60 tomes every 12ish minutes.

I want to keep plowing through 3.X MSQs on the way to SB and flaunting my Redmage magnificence but I happened to get a Switch yesterday and Zelda is being delivered today.

Oh no.

Wow what? I was going to farm PVP for Verity.

The life of a DPS is suffering.

That is, basically, what a group of people want, yes. SAM should satisfy some of them, but a good chunk of people still want a melee European style sword wielding job.

I just want PUP.

I liked him better when his name was Luca Blight.
In many ways, this is actually still praise

On the other hand, the shots at VI may be worth it.

...I mean, for tanks, healers, and people who know tanks and healers.
