Final Fantasy XV Demo Previews/Impressions Thread

Are you referring to the Slash/Vanquish move? How does it work? I thought it's automatically activated when enemy HP reaches the right threshold.

I could be wrong (raven correct me if so), but it's basically holding for the combo, and when you want the finisher, you tap the button.

You can even see that when they do so, the little command bar at the bottom displays nothing for a split second before coming back up as Slash.

I think according to famitsu, it says you hold to do rush, and when you want to slash, you let go for a moment and press attack again to execute slash.

I think that not pressing for a moment is important.

Ah, that could work. So, it's a more dynamic 'heavy attack' which requires some pausing, thus relying on proper timing of the attack button.

you can see Noct performing Slash that is not a finisher.

Damnit, FF T-0 not being up on US PSN really messes with my plans. I was hoping for it to be pre-loadable and unlocked at midnight on launch. That way I would have the whole evening to play while the wife is out of town. If I have to wait for it to show up with the store update I will have to wait until later in the evening, thus wasting valuable playtime... (EU here)
It's still better than waiting until the EU release but it would have been nice to get a bigger head start. :/ I can't even buy digital to circumvent that since I don't know where to get an early copy from (let alone sent to Germany before release).

Oh cruel world! Damn you Sony and/or SE! ;_;

I'm intrigued by these impressions, which is surprising to me. I haven't been excited to play an FF game for YEARS, but the demo being tied to the purchase of Type 0 HD has me a little cautious. How good is Type 0 and are there any vids or articles that do a deep dive of the game?

NA with that goof.

I just wanted to thank Siliconera: Thank you!

That said I would love to see more in-real advertisings in FF like the Coleman-stuff! It grounds it more to a believable. I'm thinking at "Blade Runner" for example with the constant Coke references. It works fine in movies, it'll be fitting with games too. Also Shenmue. Bring it on!

And this is why we can't have nice things.

I sincerely can't see how "Coleman" brand on the tent could harm the title, and I don't see how calling them with a fantasy name "TentMan" (example) could make it any better. For a "fantasy ground on reality" it makes perfect sense to actually incorporate real brands. Especially when you're aiming for a 50s US sci-fi world with old cars and all. Coleman is an old brand and makes it feel nostalgic too. I hope they have some other brand from those times. It's just perfect for FFXV. It'll be out of touch in FFIX of course, but when it comes to more realistic worlds (modern or sci-fis) you can easily put some real adverts in there and make the game feel more believable. I don't see any offender here.

Type-0 is good.

It should also give you an idea of how Tabata's games go.

in game ads are going to be so fun

can't wait for the grand finale. noctis proposes to stella and prompto's in the background saying "he went to jared"

That trailer helps explain the systems in the game without spoiling much.

Be careful digging. I believe some of the recent trailers (pax east) have big spoilers in them.

A fantasy based on advertising. Beautiful

We all remember blade runner for forcing coca cola in it afterall. How could I forget? Oh wait... I also remember thousand more memorable movies just because they advertised some real brands And I felt so violated each and every time it happened!

Be real...

So XV is set on Earth and
Lightning
is going to be in the game. Got it. :D

Thanks, gents or lasses. Spoilers won't bother me much - I'm not sure I would even know it spoiled anything as I'm so devoid of any real knowledge of the game.

Edit: At $60, I'll wait for reviews...even if it means missing out on the demo :-(

There should be a poster for Deus Ex 27 in the game.

Well, the content of the game has been reviewed years ago and on the technical side it's simply a superior version. It depends on what you are looking for but I'd say there's not much the new reviews can say that could change my mind. It's not going to run like shit, that I'm pretty sure of so anything else is nothing new. It's a PSP port so graphical expectations are set reasonably low. If it end up looking better than expected it's just a bonus.

Parasite Eve

"Easter egg" or no, IMO, stuff like that (famous branding) works when the setting is the real world because you'd expect it. But FFXV isn't set in the real world, just a 'realistic' one, so it comes off as kinds divorced from the setting, at least in my eyes. Personally I'd prefer less than more, but then again they've been collaborating with Roen for the fashions since (near? if not at) the beginning, so I guess it shouldn't have been surprising.

I'd agree with you, if this game was set on Earth. But it's not, so having any "real" company logos is fucking weird.

Well, as far as I'm concerned the stuff so far is pretty minor considering these brands have no mainstream presence in Germany and even if they used locally well known camping brands in XV I don't think I would be bothered by it.

I don't agree with this, but even if... FFXV?s world while not being really on Earth is basically taking place on earth. There's Tokyo, Venice, South USA and even current trend fashions in it. It's not Earth but it's Earth. You get what I mean :P

Btw Do we know if at the end of the DEMO there's any super cool new trailer or such?

are you serious? that complain lacks any fundament imo.
Being set on earth or not, a videogame is a videogame.

This is something that benefits everyone, it improves the atmosphere of the game and they get more budget.

The thing is a lot of people don't feel that blatant marketing improves the atmosphere.

As someone who thought the Roen integration was already shameless, I find this pretty gross.
