Final Fantasy XV Episode Duscae 2.0 |OT| This is a fantasy based on feedback.

But you can still use the guard stance just as before, right?

My point is that for game balance the guard stance should be made less viable. I know the L1 button can't be held down forever but I don't feel like the mp cost is that much of a deterrent especially if it consumes the same amount throughout the full game. Also, the bolded doesn't address my point that a parry/counter attack should instead be accessible exclusively through timed dodges, so it serves as a reward for a higher risk, more skilled style of play.

I'm genuinely curious why you think a defensive option with a cost should be tuned to be weaker than one without a cost. The tradeoff is already present. You can pay MP to use a safer move, or you can use a less effective one for no cost. Makes nothing but sense to me.

The new interactions are quite cool, I was about to warp to attack a garula and Gladio stopped me saying he would attack first and for me to wait.

The cross attacks are cool but I wish the action button and run button weren't the same. When I try to run to the correct spot a lot of times I will start hitting things around me and miss the indicator.

I don't know how streaming works... But is it really that hard to put the stream quality options available? Everyone's streaming at super high quality and my internet can't keep up with it D=

Hopefully Max will stream it tonight. Or someone will make some videos on Youtube.

But they aren't anymore. You have to press L3 to sprint now.

Is there no way to pair off when you want to?

The only way I have figured out how is when you camp and it only triggered sometimes when I did that. Others nothing would happen.

my break attack did 3 combo before moving on to slash. I never saw this in 1.0

So just finished trying it out (never got to finish the demo this time due to lack of time atm).

Impressions:

Liking the combat more than I did before.

The on-tour thing was interesting as is the cross chain combos or whatever it was called. Took me a bit to get the hang of it though (the timing mainly).

A side note: I hate that the rescue button in battle is the same as the warp button. Mainly because I tried to rescue Gladio a few times and warped right by him several times.

Also is the bit after camping new where it goes "Ignis polished his cookware" and "Prompto pet a chocobo" (the latter made me burst out laughing for some reason)? Never got anything like that in 1.0 but I only played it once so I may not have rested enough or something.

Still like that though.

I'm looking forward to seeing what changes are made as development continues. GC should be interesting at least.

Preliminary impressions:

I really enjoyed the combat. The only thing I'm not a fan of is L1+O to roll, though I rarely used it in 2.0 that much anyways.

This is great! One of the things on my wish list is to give all the weapons Not currently has equipped big roles in moment to moment combat rather than just making it all about the weapon that strings your middle combo.

Because the one with a cost is the only way to parry. It's already the safer option, why does it also need to be straight up more powerful against enemies? I don't think saving 10mp is enough of a reward for losing both the parry and having to time your dodge, especially now that the mp cost for moves is being reduced.

Is it me (I haven't had the chance to download the update) but has the particle effect when Noctis switches weapon dialed down? Please tell me Im just seeing things.

Noctis's original voice had so much testosterone he actually had to store his unfathomably enormous testicles in whatever dimension he keeps his weapons.

When you encountered the main antagonist a shiver went down his spine when he heard that gravel given life. "Did this guy hit puberty at age 7?" he asked as Noctis tore off his shirt and revealed a forest of chesthair while holding up a roll of Brawny paper towels.

RIP Batman.

It seems to me that dodge roll isn't at all intended to be your primary form of defense, but more of a reserve option if you're low on MP. The tradeoff is less reliability and no access to parries which seems perfectly fair to me.

Eh, I don't really like that approach. To me it's essentially encouraging the player to use their resources first and then fall back on skill/high risk methods when they run out, instead of designing a system that engages and rewards players that consistently use and grasp high risk or more skillful play styles.

The particle effects for the dodge have been tone down as well.

WHY. I actually liked that effect. Fucking Hell - Tabata changing shit that doesn't need to be changed. It makes Noctis look hella sick... now it looks like him casually changing weapons as if he carries the weapon in his invisible inventory.

JP too casual.

Use dodge roll for everything but parrying, spend your MP on weapon abilities instead, profit for being skilled and using a higher risk option.

Edit: And this is without even bringing up the ability that uses reaction time to cancel out damage.

Nah, it was excessive.

Iono, I think it gives the impression that Noctis is actually summoning the weapon in Version 1 of the demo. Does the silhoulette of the weapon still appear in game?

I've had the demo since FFT-0 launch day but never got around to playing it. Time to get off my butt and try it after hearing all the good things about this update.

Right, I'm not saying it's devoid of that reward, but that I think it would be better if parrying was part of that reward. Also, I think it should be fairly visible that parrying in itself is made a less viable/meaningful mechanic by being solely accessible through a mechanic that players would want to avoid using.

Ah. Then I would I agree that Dodge particles effects 2.0 is a lot better than 1.0. I never understood why the dodge particle in 1.0 was a different color. On the other hand, I disliked the change in effect when weapon swapping.

Here's a clip of Noctis.

Anyone know any other sites where I can quickly upload junk?
Noctis sounds better and I like I think he should, overall great!
Anyone know how to fight the Catoblepas? They seem to stay in the water for me.
Maybe you gotta beat the demo first or perhaps you gotta be a certain level? Idk I'm throwing out ideas I haven't bothered yet since I'm replaying the demo.
