Final Fantasy XV first 45 minute gameplay video (final build of the game)

Well I wasn't holding my breath for any graphical improvements annnd here we are. Welp. It looks like there's been changes to how lighting is rendered though. So I wonder how much the improved graphical fidelity comes with the price of using lighting boxes etc

Hopefully any pc version upgrades would also be available in some form on PS4 pro...I mean I highly doubt they would redesign the game around high spec PCs...PS4 Pro is a way off the higher end of PC GPUs, but it is still decent mid range.

I meant the FFXV DLCs. 3 DLCs for the other characters with probably 2-3 months in between and then the big new expansion in a year or so. They won't get a break after release.

For those who missed the DLC announcement a few months ago (they haven't talked about any details yet, though):

I'm also starting to believe the line about delaying this for the people that couldn't get the Day 1 patch. If you compare the Gamescom footage to now it would have really sucked for those people that didn't have internet access. At the time it seemed like nonsense but after seeing how dramatically different this looks I'm thinking it might have been legitimate.

(Sorry this is just really annoying in any FFXV thread and nearly every page.)

It is the normal PS4 version. Just believe us, alright? They said they are still working on the Pro version and all footage of the Pro version seen so far was in fact just a video file. They also said the base versions are their priority. This footage is meant to show worried fans that the base version turned out good too.
Also, what in this footage looks so Pro to you? The resolution is definitely just 1080p, there's still visible aliasing and there are no other graphical effects the PS4 shouldn't be able to handle.
Last but not least, if there is no indication if something is PS4 or PS4 Pro material you can be pretty sure it is standard PS4 material. Anything else would be misleading advertising.

Ignoring the visual improvements the game was just too unstable. Plenty of crashes around. Not sure if the recent impressions mentioned them but it was still crashing at EGX so I hope that gets worked out.

To be fair, most of the combat (or was it all of it?) in this video was part of the quest they were doing. You'll probably get to hear it when actually exploring instead of constantly chasing the quest marker on your screen. I really hope we'll be able to turn it off.

I wonder if we can turn off quest markers on screen too. On the mini map they are alright, but on screen it feels so intrusive and into your face.

It was an old build edited for that event. There's not much to take out of it that's of any value now. It doesn't necessarily mean that you won't still get a handjob from Gladio whenever you catch a fish, but it's also not a reason to expect that kind of thing in the main game. We're at least two full builds ahead of that now.

My bad - I've just been so excited for this game for so many years lol - dont really care for the resolution or the FPS not being 60 or anything like that - I'm more worried about performance wise, if the game is stable 30 FPS or close to it then I'm fine with that.

Excited for the game and cant wait to play it on my PS4!

The pixel art sprites of the characters showing which weapons are upgrades is a charming touch. Made me want to go dig out my FFV on GBA.

I honestly hope they're a rare and random occurrence rather then a "select a summon to cheese" type deal. I think having it that way would give them more of an impact.

As much as I might want to live in a world where this is a possibility (I think P3 and P4 easily stack up and surpass any FF game), that's an incredibly silly bet to make. FFXV is going to be huge. If it ends up being terrible, I'd say all future bets are off, but there's too much riding on this game for it not to sell in a big way.

Reports from previews and hands-ons said for some months now that the game is pretty much stable 30fps. You might get a hitch here and there but it is not worse than in other games of it's kind and definitely not game breaking.
If you are getting the PS4 version you are already getting a good and almost the best version. Xbox One players should be much more worried. But even they seem to get a perfectly fine version. The Xbox gameplay Twitch streamed a couple of days ago was both pretty and stable.

Also, even though I plan to buy a Pro, I doubt that that version will satisfy the immense hype it is getting here for months. I doubt it will deliver more than 4K and HDR. So far the minority of developers plan to deliver more than one Pro mode. Tabata and his team are even more pressed for time than others and they said they don't want to let regular console owners (the vast majority of FFXV players) feel left behind with an inferior version. 4K and HDR (and pretty downsampled IQ on 1080p TVs) is in my opinion perfectly sufficent and fair for everyone.
Of course I might be wrong, lol, but I doubt it. Let's wait and see. ;)

Definitely. He was easily my least favorite party member, but I love him after watching his episode in Brotherhood.

Even the in-game stuff that annoyed me before is now charming, after getting to know him better as a character.

And you can only summon Leviathan when near water, right?
 
The amount of planned dlc is kind of putting me of from buying it at release. Im one of those who rather wait for a Goty edition with Everything included. But I guess such edition could be like 2018 :)

But Ever since I saw that "malbaro" trailer some year ago ive been sold on the game. Will pick up a Ps4 pro at release and would like this to be my first pro experience..but all that dlc hmm
 
I'm on a sort of media black out on this game content and story wise. I just played a little bit of Episode Duscae (which I liked) and Platinum Demo (which I didn't like).

But damn after the whole graphics debacle at E3 and seeing how much the game has improved now, I'm seriously considering a purchase day one for this game (after being burnt by FFXIII).


Plus that French dub which will be hilarious

English Prompto's voice acting sounds so much more natural and lively than any of the other English characters. I love how varied and nuanced his delivery is and the random squeaks in between when his voice is breaking for a second.

This 45 mins of gameplay sold me on the game, but, honestly I would still perhaps still wait to pick it up until some point in the future. However...

I'm picking up a PS4 Pro, and I want something to appreciate it with, so FFXV it shall be! Seems like a fitting first game.
