Slightly OT, but given that there are definitely fans here, seems like as good a place as any to ask.
If you're going to play FFXV, should you watch Kingsglaive before? Is that giving you relevant backstory that you'd want to know going into the game?
Alternatively, does it potentially spoil larger plot conflicts or give you a false impression of what to expect from the actual game?
Kingsglaive from what these guys tell me can basically act as a cgi beginning cutscene of the game.Slightly OT, but given that there are definitely fans here, seems like as good a place as any to ask.

It certainly gives you backstory getting to see the invasion happen. I'll be watching it directly before I switch discs and play xv
I hate bombs..I can only imagine the fuckery already
That's complete sarcasm. lol
Unfortunately its not sarcasm koozek isn't saying it but it damn sure was said.
Look at his avatar bro
It's sarcasm. Koozek is Team Fanboy![]()
Nah gonna treat it like a metal gear solid cutscene and watch it like an intro both me and my lady(before she ditches me to go play her copy)Why don't you just watch it now...?
I do. The lead characters, from what we have seen are not inspiring, very generic creations with terrible clothing(Armor?) designs.
I don't understand the necessity why some kids are going out to the wilderness to murder animals. Could be I missed that part of the plot along the way. Final Fantasy games have always been about some over arching issue going on, and we know there is one here, but initially we the player are separated from it and just off on a jolly time with our brahs, circle jerking and driving around.
Now I am sure the gang will be thrown into the larger issue at hand, but at the moment, I couldn't care what that is or how they get there, much like FF13, where I just gave up after 20+ hours of not caring who these characters were and what they were fighting for.
In most Final Fantasy's, we're roped into something bigger then ourselves very quickly. Or we're characters that are struggling to cope with the issues at hand early on, just trying to get by.
As well, the game lacks a sense of maturity. This is where I believe I would have enjoyed a FF15 that had Kingsglaive characters instead. Look how awesome they look!
I'm just so done with sappy, emotional tweeners running around in JRPGs. Like I said, I'm old, can't deal with this any longer.
Good luck to those that will play and enjoy the game. I am on the other side of the fence and would love to have someone at SQUARE-ENIX to actually give us something different/better then what I see here, personally.

Yes, watch Kingsglaive before playing the game. There are some plot elements that are introduced in the movie.
Regarding your other questions, no, I don't think it spoils anything relevant from the main game, but it introduces concepts and plot elements.

Kingsglaive is basically a long prologue cutscene. It leads directly into the game and provides a bit extra context for some things.
I haven't been following the plot speculation too closely, but there's one thing that constitutes a spoiler in the sense that it gives the game some dramatic irony.
Is that the final build?

You shouldn't take Platinum demo as a reference. It was a mistake.

There's an insane amount.I love how they're talk about bombs. The amount of dialog lines in this game must be like Witcher level.

Another gameplay video. Bombs are apparently in the 44ish minute range, but I'm at work. So I'm watching the whole thing instead of working. I'll get to the bombs, lol
I can't stop laughing when she tries to run from the 2 iron giants.
THIS GAME, GUYS!

Is this game's gameplay nothing but "drive to place, kill x monsters, repeat"? Like any later areas that break from that formula in any way?
The combat system is less complex than even a Dynasty Warriors game and I can't imagine it remaining entertaining for the 60+ hours that a Final Fantasy title lasts. You just pick a weapon, mash circle, and hit square when the screen throws up a distracting prompt to "PLS BLOCK NOW" that seemingly never stops happening. Maybe this press A to awesome stuff is what they're going for and my wanting more interaction isn't the norm.

And I remember some people who claimed that two months are not nearly enough to polish those visuals while at the same time removing bugs and glitches.
This footage is delicious. Game looks fantastic.
Game development doesn't work on a linear path.
the hype returns
wow i might actually get this at launch now
