Red Dead Reclaim

My only wish for this game at this point is that they open up combat in a FFXII style where I can control the rest of my team. The autonomous squad combat was kinda janky in demo.

I can dream.

We haven't complained about "press A for awesome" lately!

BTW, I don't know if it's been known here yet, but I missed this so I'm going to post it anyway. We were having a discussion about someone's take on FFXV recently where he spent the brunt of his piece on the nuisance of the button prompts popping up for parries, and NoctisPendragon of gamefaqs (one of the good posters, promise) noted that FOTMhero (also one of the good ones, and one of the first people to report about playing the final build) confirmed that he WAS able to disable those prompts!

http://www.jeuxvideo.com/fotmhero/forums/message/841999205

That's really cool. I'll definitely disable as much stuff as I can.

We're sure it's not some bigger "hide hud" toggle right? Meaning we can pick elements individually? Because the only one I really want to get rid off is the stamina one.

edit: oh, answered above I guess. Sorry!

Btw, I can't see what's important here.
What am I supposed to be seeing?

Edit:

I'm talking about the one from 2014 with
enemies continuously being stabbed by swords.

Yeah, that was my mistake. My eyes are glazing over here.

But I'm pretty sure there's been the zipping around with the sentient swords attacking enemies thing all the way through. It's hard to tell from that off-screen footage, but I can't imagine that changing.

It's a bummer that they went from the satisfying Crush strikes for each attack to the string of attacks that we have now in the current build. I absolutely love the animations from TGS 2014 up until Jump Festa 2015.

EDIT: I love the animation for the sword here (ignore the first strike).

I think German Ignis is completely unfitting. First of all, is voice doesn't suit him at all. He sounds like every other guy. In both Japanese and English they however opted for someone with a soft, warm and soothing voice.
Apart from the unfitting voice he also acts way too casual. He talks exactly like Noctis, Gladio and Prompto. I don't think Ignis would ever casually call Noctis a moron/dumbass/blockhead (however you would translate "Quatschkopf"). The other guys certainly would but not Ignis. Noctis might be his friend but first of all he is his prince to him.

Yes, English Ignis sounds too formal and snobbish but the German version goes too far in the exact other direction. Japanese Ignis is right in the middle and perfect. :) Japanese dub it is for me!

German Ignis is actually a lot closer to Japanese Ignis than English Ignis ever was. Ignis talks just as casually as Noctis in the Japanese version.

Ignis' accent reminds me of what they did with Wakka in FFX. In Japan he had the same voice as this guy

I agree, any one know why they had to change the look and feel of the game so much?

Because that's how video games are made.

Most devs don't show every step of their progress so that fans don't have a chance to get all finicky and obsessive over every altered animation or cut character.

Games, are incredibly iterative. FFXV perhaps has the most transparent development of any recent Japanese title especially if we consider Japanese triple A. A lot can change over a couple of months let alone years.

I actually think they should get some props from that more than they do at least. I enjoyed Watching this gane develop over the years for better or worst it was a cool experience

I think all they did was learn never to do that again. Which would be a shame, since I actually really appreciated the ability to follow along with it. But some people just flat out can't handle looking at a half finished product.

In a world where AAA developers pull the rug from under the consumer on release day with the visuals, I cannot believe the backlash FFXV has gotten from its first few reveals until today. Square even avoided the pitfall of recording their main trailers with maxed out PC footage. The uncovered trailers don't look anywhere close to as nice as the current build of the game. And they literally put together development reels during development, which of course, people used as ammo to assume the game was a trainwreck. They probably WONT ever do it again, and they probably shouldn't either, and that's a pity. Gamers love to say they want one thing and then prove that they're lying to themselves when its provided.

Also, they're clearly proud of the tech their using. And they should be, because it looks amazing. After FFXV i really hope they keep using and tweaking the technology used in XV for more and less ambitious projects.

umm... when did you start following the game?

???

Good enough than. Such a beautiful world I don't want all that stuff on my screen

I couldn't forgive myself if I didn't at least try to learn that map by using the landmarks to guide me, and using the map shortcut whenever I need it.

Having a mini-map on screen doesn't force me to look at it at all times, it's certainly possible to just peek every now and then and instead look at the screen most of the time, but I just can't bring myself to do it, and if I do, it feels like I'm fighting against an urge to look at the map, and can't quite concentrate on just absorbing the pretty scenery.

Couldn't agree more. And it really is a shame. It will probably never happen again, either.

sometimes it feels like you guys are bringing drama from other ff communities here... and if lordkasual isn't an alt i'm guessing that's the case here because idk wtf they're talking about

No, this forum was more guilty of it than most. This isn't drama, either. It's an observation over the last couple of years, not some reaction to something that just happened.

Actually, the majority of my FFXV info has come from NeoGaf. There were convenient gifs and links here about the game compiled into threads with discussion. And alot of the FFXV threads here since have been...well. You don't need me to tell you.

I've seeked out a few other community sites since, but NeoGaf by far is the most consistently negative. It is mostly the same few posters, but like i said, it's consistent.

Edit: That isn't to say only NeoGaf is guilty of that behavior, or that the behavior was the majority. I said "Gamers".

Wait, are you trying to say there hasn't been constant GAF shitting on XV? Agree with the complaints or not, but there has been near constant complaint, refreshed every single time new info comes out, over years. I think it's fine if somewhat excessive - what are message boards for after all?

Certainly if they'd been far less transparent there would have been less specific complaining, and some of the things that have inspired a ton of moaning (e.g., graphics, poor responsiveness in combat) probably wouldn't have got much negativity at all given the current build's quality.

He's asking how long you've been following the game because the very first trailer of where Versus XIII turned into XV they showed something the PS4 Pro still can't even do. But obviously you're only talking about the recent year or two of coverage. And you're correct, they're not pulling the rug under gamers at launch or close to launch like other games this gen have. And as you've said, there was backlash over stuff that happened this year but its mostly just the same few people so it's nothing to write home about.

A huge one being the negativity of a downgrade showing on a "direct feed" video capture (of was it Gamescom?). Some of the backlash and criticism there was completely unfounded. For a "direct feed" video it was still compressed/artifacty/blurry or whatever the hell it was even it you downloaded the video directly. Gamespot's videos have the same problem yet people thought it would look like that on their PS4 on their TV/monitor. And I'm going crazy how no one has acknowledged this about that footage and Gamespot's latest one. GET A NEW FUCKING PS4 CAPTURE DEVICE GAMESPOT!

Kinda of goof troop question here,
but uh, are the any animals like cats or dogs in FFXV
has anyone spotted any animals that are actually in the streets roaming around or that you can pet.

you know what , I love when RPGs allow you to talk to animals - such a cool feature (granted you have the right item)

We've seen cats. Not sure about dogs besides Umbra and Pryna.

Yup, cats (and dogs, I think). Actually you could see Noctis petting a cat by walking up to it and pressing X at the beach resort in one of the recent previews (maybe the Eurogamer one, can't check right now). I mean, there even was the Cat Cam video of the train station from Taipei Game Show in 2014, lol.

where did i say that? how did you get that from my response to the quote about development reels?

who was using stuff like this against the game?
