Final Fantasy XV Gamescom Active Time Report - CNN reporting live from disaster scene

Stop with the overacting. All we know about Stella from 2013 was that her model changed. And then she was no more.

It was a terrible change though. Luna would be a much better looking Stella than 2013 Stella, even if not nearly as good as Kagari Stella.

Why are people saying Stella was removed from the game? She was in the trailer today. She was the one holding Noctis. Duh.

I don't want to speculate on that considering it was only a design. Luna and 2013 stella look almost identical visually in my opinion.

And i will not say that Luna is better because she already looks worse from what we've seen in regards to her portrayal.

"Kagari Stella"

It's her avatar ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I've looked at that design more through Kagari's avatar than all of the many times I've watched the Versus trailers combined. And after Nomura saying he didn't really like that design, might as well belong to her now.

And all these "experts" in Japanesee culture conveniently overlook just how passive Stella's dialog/manner of speaking was around Noctis.

Until she drew her blade. I hope Luna is a fighter who is supposed to play direct opposite of Noctis in her Kingdom, but i have not seen that with the changes.

Truth, 2013 Stella was a bizarro puffy faced doll thing.

I like Nomura and all, but some of his characters are really blah (like pretty much everyone ever in KH).

Changes to character faces should be the least of anyone's worries right now though - when is the damn game going to come out? Hard to believe they'd kick off their marketing push (such as it is) more than a year out....

Whatever changed was not Nomuras choice. We know Nomura was upset by being removed from the team and probably got the message that what had already done would be changed. I was pretty happy at what I saw for XV in 2013 not so much everything TGS
2014 onward.

I'm sure he's in the team but they got him to shut up didn't they.

Wan said that even Noruma himself couldn't follow his vision to a T due to unexpected issues. The XV in 2013 was a bunch of per-rendered CGs with a bunch of placement UI which while may looked good, we have no way of knowing that they have actually manage to get it down like that without any major issues.

Why are people saying Stella was removed from the game? She was in the trailer today. She was the one holding Noctis. Duh.

Man, you're clearly losing it, that was our goddess Lightning cradling Noctis in her arms. She's his mother.

Omg.

gif+tio+ben.gif

Just amazing, lol

The thing about XV is that I'm convinced it will be a good game, because Square Enix is in no rush to release it. If they have a hard deadline on this game then it'll probably end up being Assassin's Creed Unity levels of bad, but I doubt Tabata will be able to commit to a deadline.

Even if it releases in 2020, it will be a good game once Tabata finally decides to name his characters and finalize designs.

Not really overracting. Didn't you live through the time of changing Stellas? There WERE generally some fans upset with her changes, on a visual level of course. Hell, the most beloved version of Stella most use(via avatars or gifs) is OG Stella. Even more hell, I like that version the best too.

Well for what we know there could very well be no love story between Noctis and Luna.
I mean, their marriage feels like some political move, i doubt any sentiment is involved.
But then again when was the last time we got a FF without a love story?
FFXII kinda skimped on the whole "love thing". I DO recall, at the time when Vaan and Ashe were revealed, people were pairing them up as the game's romantic couple. That never happened, which in the context of the game, made sense. If anything, those characters would find romance, but not in FFXII itself. I never played the additional games(Revenant Wings or FFTA2), but I heard
Vaan and Penelo
became an item and
Ashe and Bashe
became an item.

And yeah, it really doesn't mean Luna and Noctis ARE going to be a romantic couple either. It's just a theory given how certain story aspects are changing. Basically, they COULD do it if they wanted to. If they don't, they don't. A part of me hopes they don't. Again, I like love stories that don't seemed forced just to appeal to the lowest common denominator. Y'know, garden variety type crap that most things seem to lay on heavy. Hell, a good mess of Japanese anime and games(ESPECIALLY JRPGS) slap that crap on in bulk.

Oh I think it will be a great game too...it just has to...come out some year...sigh...

Nomura would have made it happen without a doubt by 2017 at least lol, he is a man of compromise.

Also the gameplay was not a bunch of pre-rendered CGs that's just PR after they re-revealed TGS 2014 gameplay and it didn't look like what we saw, and how I know this is because

"Hashimoto was playing Versus XIII on PS3, and he felt the difference when he played the first PS4 based tests.- June 12, 2013" E3 2013 version was playable on ebony engine and we know it.

Luna's supposed changes from when she was known as Stella is just a proxy for people's dissatisfaction with the game's current state and what we've seen of it versus the expectation of the original game.

Its in a very rough state, and we don't even know when we can expect it after so long.

SE's poor marketing and the game's tumultuous development aside, that's what people get by letting their expectations run wild and be dictated by a few CG trailers.

VIIR is going to be this multiplied by a thousand.

This thread simply reminds me of how awesome Final Fantasy really is. Every single one especially this last gen. Has been awesome.

Haven't played em all through yet, but it's been awesome, and I am in no rush.

This is my hope, because I like the idea of Noctis traveling on his original bro-trip as the last hurrah before his arranged marriage.

XII is weird in that Vaan and Penelo's romance are painfully telegraph with the concern childhood friends that wouldn't leave you alone trope in animes. There is also very subtle hint regarding Ashe and Bathier (because XII wasn't Star War enough) but her and Basche was never really a thing even in the sequel.

Yeah I agree, romance in game/JRPGs in generals is just... meh the majority of the time.

Hopefully the next trailer shows Luna quietly sitting at a table. Noctis walking in the room. She glances at him, hands on her chest, clenched.

Luna: "What took you so long?" she says with a worried tone.

Noctis: Well... (Flash back of hours of goofing off in duscase)

Luna: o_o... (flips table, brandishes rapier) "I said, what took you so long fiance O_O?"

Prompto walks in and sees a pissed off Luna, whispers in Noctis' ear "Well, she looks like one strong woman." He then runs off in fear for his life. I hope you enjoyed this excerpt from my trailer fanfic. This is what fans want right? Strong Luna, flipping tables and brandishing rapiers?

Whoa now, I'm not so sure about the bolded part. This was suppose to be Noruma's 'magnus opus' as many people would like to claim and there's indication that's he is a perfectionist when it comes to XV with the numerous changes to his gameplay/character design etc... If he is indeed a man of compromise, why would Square have any reason to 'boot' him out?

And for the Pre-redered stuff, I distinctly remember Karagi saying the same thing at the time. Of course I may be wrong, feel free to correct me.

She said it was all pre-rendered and meant to be target renders.

Nomura is letting people who are expecting FF7 with prettier graphics down from the start, so that i will say is atleast not down to the developer, we know what they want to do, and that is not do the same thing. No one can be swept away of expectation of what they were promised.

Tabata made a lot of promises for FF15 when he took over, and his fantasy based on feedback has not inspired any confidence in the developer's own confidence of the title.

3 years in and we barely get 15 fps at 900p is really concerning.

Thought you were gonna have Noctis say "kept you waiting huh?" and reveals that he was Snake all along.

No it isn't, what we played was a build practically 2 years before the game's release, that kind of optimization comes much closer to release.

There wasn't too many changes from Versus XIII to XV other than the fact that the scale was much larger.

http://www.novacrystallis.com/2013/...iis-story-remains-intact-in-final-fantasy-xv/

Square probably kicked him off because he wanted to spend so much time on one project that has been delayed almost a decade, and they already poured so much resource onto it when they probably needed a talented guy like Nomura to work on other projects.

However Nomura wanted to focus on XV as a series in its own for a long time

http://www.novacrystallis.com/2013/06/final-fantasy-xv-is-the-first-part-in-a-larger-epic/

Kinda like a Kojima situation. Kojima is a perfectionist as well but Konami revealed that he was wasteful and would scrap like 30 songs until is sounded right and they got pissed.

Square was nice enough to have Nomura stay or better yet Nomura was nice enough to stay and direct other Triple A titles of theirs, even though they kicked him off his magnum opus.

I'm really loving these Lightning gifs and might actually try FFXIII for the first time due to her. I'm hoping for more great FF Woman designs like her.

People loved to shit on XIII and act like FFXV was some great white hope that would "save the franchise"

... now its looking like FFXIII will be the last decent FF if this trend continues.

I'm enjoying it to say the least.

Tabata trying to reach that beer before the event was even finished like it was the mosti mportant thing in the world was golden tho

This is my hope, because I like the idea of Noctis traveling on his original bro-trip as the last hurrah before his arranged marriage.

The Hangover XV.
Seriously though, i would welcome a romantic story even only for the fact that they're really pushing Noctis as being a real introvert with women, so i'd like to see how he'd handle Luna.

People have nearly 20 years of expectations. What he promises doesn't really mean jack. And I'm not blaming him but SE put themselves into a situation where they're pretty much guaranteed to alienate half the fanbase. Change it? Heaps of people pissed. Keep it the same? Heaps of people pissed.

Tabata made a lot of promises for FF15 when he took over, and his fantasy based on feedback has not inspired any confidence in the developer's own confidence of the title.

I'm actually more confident in XV since Duscae and the changes. Mostly because I don't think it'll be awful. Tabata has made average - but not bad - games in the past and it looks like he'll be doing it again. Track record speaks louder than promises.

3 years in and we barely get 15 fps at 900p is really concerning.

Resolution and framerate don't mean anything until the final stages of development. You know The Last of Us was a broken mess up until days before mastering right? Most games are.

I think we can all agree that these ATRs are doing more damage then help. I appreciate that they are trying to keep us informed, but they really should just keep their mouths shut. After Nomura's departure, they should have been more upfront and just said it's a reboot that borrows from Nomura's vision.

Actually I'd rather know about these things now, than finding out about the changes after I've bought the game :/

Thought you were gonna have Noctis say "kept you waiting huh?" and reveals that he was Snake all along.

I would be into that also. I was going for more of a tsundere tone for Luna, I don't think Kojima can pull off tsundere characters with the intricacies and subtitles that Nomura can.

At least they didn't fire Nomura. That would have destroyed all faith I have with Square Enix. It's funny you mention Kojima, because Episode Duscae might as well be Ground Zeroes. Even comes with a free FF Type-0 HD disk, very thoughtful.

I like the way you think. Beautiful fan fic.

Thank you, finally, someone appreciates my fanfics.

Actually I'd rather know about these things now, than finding out about the changes after I've bought the game :/

I suppose, but all of this could have been avoided if they were upfront and honest in the first place.

"Look, Nomura isn't directing anymore, this might as well be a reboot." Instead of slowly destroying everything we thought this game was one ATR at a time.

The problem I have with saying that Versus wouldn't be that much different from XV is that we don't exactly know what Versus is. We don't know how much Nomura have nail down in the term of story and characters. Yes Stella was changed into Luna but do we actually know who Stella is based on what Noruma actually shown us? He might have radically different idea for Stella than 8/9 years ago and iirc he didn't even talk that much about Stella in the 2013 re-branding. The 'old' Stella might be RIP in term of design and character.

The part about him being a perfectionist and wanting to spend alot of time on XV would indicate that he's very uncompromising when it comes to XV. This means that he would have low chance and shipping it in 2017 like you said earlier. That's what I was trying to point out.
