Final Fantasy XV Gamescom Active Time Report - CNN reporting live from disaster scene

these are few shots from that DF video, and they are not even including hectic scenes that drop lower

Episode Duscae 2.0's framerate is nowhere near what you would call "constant 30fps" It was improvement from 1.0 but 1.0 was really shit to begin with.

Open world is not an excuse. Withcer 3 console version is constantly getting bashed with shitty framerate, and rightly so.

This framerate is indefensible shit.

I think he said they would bring the trailer to pax and such, but there would be new gameplay at both events.

There no way there isn't a new trailer at TGS.

He need a transcript of this ATR.

He might be saving a new trailer for JumpFesta.

Hopefully they realize their PR/marketing of the game is causing a shitstorm and take PAX/TGS as an opportunity to address the damage they are causing.

Like, after the alarm sounded in the trailer, I was expecting Noctis and gang to wake up inside an inn, and then get out into a town like Accordo or Lestallum or something. I was way too hopeful...

There probably a trailer for both and I edited my comment thanks to the new info.

The character models are completely different. They have far more polygons, far more bones. Importing the animations is pointless if you have a completely different rig on the new models. The idea that they would use tessellation to fill in the blanks is also unlikely. The consoles ports of games typically avoid tessellation as the geometry engines on GCN aren't all that great (and needed for other things).

Designs were kept, larger level geometry might have been kept, raw mocap was kept and some ideas were kept but they mostly started from scratch.

So this video showing the PS3 version of FFXV aka versus starts around 11:24 is not using pretty much animations seen in Next gen footage?

Or open world environment also seen in PS3 footage? Or combat system? Which in a previous post I linked a article with lead director and designer who talk about transitioning to PS4 and using their work from PS3?

How is Japan reacting to FFXV in Gamescom? Can't imagine it was much better than in the west?

Of course they got depressed and angry like here.
But some blame not only Tabata but also PR division.
They think how GamesCom for XV including "dawn" went was mainly planed by PR division like Ofuji, and PR division should re-plan its promotion. I think this has some valid point.

Yeah, and other think they still keep big information for TGS because SE is Japanese company.

Yeah, I'm blaming all of it on Ofuji and the marketing. Tabata's job is to direct the game.

I was just re watching part of the ATR (side note: that translator is ridiculously good), and they definitely said they're taking Dawn to PAX and TGS.

Personally that doesn't bother me - how many trailers should a team have to cut for one game? Seriously, how many full trailers do most other AAA games get?

But I do hope they give us more of the road map, and I am curious about some of the gameplay specifics (AI, magic). Even if they just announce a big XV specific event within the next few months where all will be revealed, I'd be satisfied.

I really hope TGS gets some sort of extended version of Dawn trailer and not just the same shit they showed at gamescom....but yea doubt it will happen.

Yeah pretty much how I feel about what happened.

I'm fairly sure they reused some assets and then replicated others in the new engine, but it sure doesn't seem like they used anything from vs

Along with the aforementioned issues with rigging character models, texturing and lighting is completely different when using a PBR model, which the old engine did not use. They may be reusing level geometry and art as well as using the old assets as reference, but these thing will have been remade.

This was all I wanted out of Gamescom: acknowledgement/clarification for the PC crowd. Good.

I am more than satisfied with my time playing Duscae already, I can wait for that port.

Can someone who just joined this thread and knows nothing about Final Fantasy get a recap of what happened?

They skipped E3 because they wanted to save their stuff for Gamescom.

Gamescom got here and we got a 3 min trailer with a 2 min scene of hugging and then after that we got a 1:30 min video of walking and seeing a monster killing them in 2 hits.

And this game has been having some small issues with its development (like being announced in 2006), so people are taking this as an indication that the game won't come out for another 2/3 years...

Let's just say the people who seem so sure about them making another game with it are going to eat their hats.

I don't wear hats. :(

And I guessed that they would use Luminous again mostly because SE is known for bad decisions with their engines, lol.

So pretty much it's dead after this.

Good, this engines take to long and hopefully they can take some stuff from FFXV and or lumnie as a lesson and use it parts of it for later.

As cool as Luminous looks, moving to more ideal engines like Unreal 4 would be the smart thing to do moving forward.

What a waste.

:(

I think there's a good chance that a PC version will be announced before the console version releases.

But at this rate, who knows when the console versions are coming out anyway.

I can only imagine how stressed out the guy is after the reception.

I can imagine how frustrating it must be too have an engine like lumnie to stall this game out and create some bad reception.

Hopefully he gets a break after this so he can come back fresh for type 1 if he is the one developing it

Well, then like many of us said, Square should forget about developing new engines. They suck at it. Use an existing engine, like Unreal 4, and just turn 'em out. No more wasting time, effort and money on engine creating, and use all that towards actually making games.
