Final Fantasy XV Gamescom Active Time Report - CNN reporting live from disaster scene

Tabata is saying that the developing of FF XV is over 75% but concurrent localization/debugging add a lot of work só they're saying 65-70%

It seens it'll really be a worldwide release.

Yeah, he says in the Famitsu interview that he wants a simultaneous release.

Yeah, he says in the Famitsu interview that he wants a simultaneous release.

He also said this now "We'd like to release the Western version as close as possible during the same period"

Hope this means same week at least lol Like Tuesday in NA and Thursday in Europe.

I wonder if some of the tentativeness about the beginning of their marketing campaign is because they thought people were realistically expecting this in early 2016, and they don't want to feed that perception. Of course, many of us were realistically expecting end of 2016. From that perspective, all this "we can't announce that yet" then seems like, wow, it's even worse than we thought, you're REALLY taking your time with this, aren't you!

So much uncertainty. They'd do well to just give us a more precise release window already.

Day1:"The game is 65%!"

Day2:"Is actually like 65-70%!"

Day3:"You know what? Is 75%, but I'm gonna came with shanenigans to explain why I didn't said this figure 2 days ago! Is truly releasing in 2016?! BTW someone knows a good engine programmer? we need to get a better streaming solution for our engine! But is totally releasing in 2016! Everything is fine!"

The setting isn't true contemporary however. For instance, you have characters from Niflheim donned in full medieval armor for example, most likely originated from medieval style kingdom.

Regardless, let's say she's a trophy princess character. What is stopping her from doing something else in the story? You are just jumping to conclusion at this point.
The guys in armor are using guns. There are skyscrapers, cars, technology of the modern era.

It's contemporary. Nowadays there are people in various countries who wear traditional dress. Doesn't mean the year isn't 2015.

Main male characters get to be hardened soldiers, princes with fated destinies chosen by gods, sports stars, former generals, mercenaries, etc. That's just backstories. It's 2015, and the main female character of Final Fantasy 15 is a trophy princess. How embarrassing it must be to stand next to Mirror's Edge, Horizon Zero Dawn, and even Assassin's Creed! Seems like not only is 15's technology stuck in the past, so are its female characters.

If you would like to argue that Luna's hypothetical future possible actions excuse her character base as a trophy princess, feel free to do so. Of course you'd be ok with it, because to you, the female characters don't have to be characters you'd like to be or play. After all, you don't play any female characters in this game.

wow

Luna doesn't fit the definition of a trophy wife. Sorry.

It sounds like the FNC stuff is essentially still in there, at least in spirit, but maybe with different naming conventions and other changes.

oh god...

A "trophy wife" isn't supposed to be the one of higher status, which Luna appears to be. They're meant to be decoration on a powerful man's arm.

Please tell us all the plot details since you surely know what the game is going to be about.

I don't see why they couldn't.

I agree.

It's certain that there'll be differences, but I kind doubt now they'll be able to reach 1080p on PS4.

The way it was worded pretty much confirms at least one version will be 1080p. Since PC is still in the semi-confirmed state of "we'll see after we finish the consoles versions", that really leaves no other choice other than the PS4 running it at 1080p.

Dramatis, please, no spoilers, we haven't played the game yet!

Everything is conjecture lol.

All we have is bits and pieces so yeah no one can just grab whatever they like and make a whole plot out or it. I mean sure theories are fun and we can speculate the fuck out of everything but we don't have much to go on since well that's how they're promoting it. The waiting game till pax/tgs is real.

They're not announcing the date at PAX, they're announcing when they will announce it.

And that's not even a joke. Or maybe they'll say when they won't release the game again, perhaps it's some kind of event run across multiple events.

GC: Before 2017
Pax Prime: After March 2016
TGS: Before December 2016

Maybe at one point a single day will remain and we'll have a release date.

So a little summary of the recently discussed:
.PS4 version probably running at 1080p
.XB1 version probably running at 900p
.Avalanche partnership to polish airship mechanics
.Game development as in the game itself beyond 75%, goes down to 65%-75% due to localisation and debugging, aiming at global release.
.Luna is going to be BADASS
.Announcement of the event holding the release date announcement at PAX Prime later this month.

Am I missing anything?

As you were writing this post game development bumped up to 82%.

Yes, thank you. Being a woman in an arranged marriage in a fictional world does not make you a trophy wife. Being a woman married to a more powerful man (edit: BECAUSE he's more powerful) in a fictional world makes you a trophy wife. Tabata says Noctis is less powerful than Luna, ergo, she's not a trophy wife.

and isn't on his way to Comic con?

You seem to be in a mentality that female has to be physically active and do shit in order to be a "strong" female character. I don't. I love the Terra in World of Ruins when she discovered that she has found a home in an orphanage, looking after a bunch of children who lost their family. She has found the objective of her life, that is protect the orphans. THAT to me, is a strong female character. I don't need a character who punch others, who shout around and command orders. I wasn't in love with Terra when she's being a badass
esper
, flying around the globe.

I mean, it better be otherwise why even mention the part about focusing on one platform?

It makes sense. This kind of statement makes me glad that VII remake is being made only with the PS4 in their minds.

Guess that's it. I think the release date will be announce in a japanese event, so either TGS or Jump Festa.

LMAO expect the game to reach 90% tomorrow!

I feel like TGS makes sense, but they may choose Paris Games Week. SE Japan loves their France, and they took the game there last year. Also, Sony has a press conference going on at that event and it may be the perfect stage for that kind of announcement. And if it is worldwide release, there is no better way to state that than announcing the release date in the region that is usually last to get their games xD

I've been wearing a pair of those since yesterday xD

Sony also having there pre TGS show again, they could have it there and show the date.
Along with P5 date too

Ooh, nice observation. Tabata said they are NOT eidolons like Ramuh/Leviathan, but I could imagine they're like the god-ified versions of Regis' royal ancestors or something.

Yeah, I think they are ancestors too.

Other thing is that these are not FNC deities in XV anymore, but have a foundation in the mythos. So no Fal'cie or L'cie, Etro, Bveeeenelzzbulze and others I guess.

Good riddance IMO.
They could always change the mythology and names of the gods/goddesses to distances themselves. Just because there WAS Etro, Lindzei, Pulse and Bhunivelze before doesn't mean they could distance this game from FNC by renaming all those deities. I mean, chances are, if they appear in this game, they'll already look drastically "different" than their depictions on, say, FFXIII's universe.

Oh Dramatis, stop being so dramatic. Also, they've said FFXV(even Versus) was world of conflicting eras. Not all parts were MEANT to be contemporary. And again, I stress what the whole "Fantasy based on Reality" REALLY means, not that they are simply taking inspiration by making it a contemporary setting, but are inspired more by real life political events regarding the world's conflicts. Tension between nations(N.Korean, Middle East, Russia) will probably have a greater influence on the "reality" aspect of the game than anything else.

Really looking forward to some interviews done by the French FF fansites. Apparently they told Tabata that his whole feedback platform is weak and a mistake.
