Why would you want Prompto's battle photo ability? Doesn't he already take pictures in the middle of fights? This confuses me. Also what do you gain from leveling up his photography skill?

His usual photos are random. Sometimes he takes them, sometimes he doesn't. With the ability you can gain AP and also plan for some flashy move and then order him to take a photo.

It's not very useful, but glad they gave the option for people who want a little more control over their combat photos.

Also, it just levels up photography quicker, if you're going for that.

Taking Ignis down to the dungeon after he loses his eyesight, made him such a useless piece of shit. I could not be bothered to wait for him so I just ran ahead, which meant that I was fighting alone most of the time lol. Just got to Chapter 13, and he's still blind...sadly.

Finished Chapter 3 last night - I'm having a blast with this game. The dungeons have the old exploratory feel of older FFs/RPGs and I'm starting to have a lot of fun with the combat. I wish the things you found were in actual chests like the old days and not just shiny spots on the ground, but it's not a huge turn-off. Also was that really the
Midgar Zolom
just chilling outside the Chapter 3 dungeon? Scared the shit out of me coming up on that at night, geez.

Definitely already getting the "open world side quest" bleh feeling. The main quests and hunts are fun, but the "go here, get an item, come back" side quests are already taking their toll on me, especially when you have to travel all over the place and Ignis is a little twerp about driving at night so you have to plan out your fast travels if you want to get more EXP to bank.

Overall though the game is super fun and I'm enjoying it way more than I ever did FFXIII.

You monster.

I felt like shit when I ran ahead of him and decided to wait. I really cared for these characters. :/

Totally agree with your on the actual chest instead of shiny spots. :)

I just wish it was like dragons dogma , where you find treasure chest, pots to break, crates, dig on the ground , pick up water, ect.

FFXV lacks interaction with the world.

Granted, I'm only in chapter 1 (waiting on a pro patch )

I thought chapter 13 was fantastic. I was ready to hate it based on what I read but I have no idea what people are talking about.
Granted
i had a huge cache of sliders so I would just use the Y move on the ring and then immediately use an elixir to refill MP up until I got the sword of the father.

Lol. I felt the same way, but felt that it was my fault because they asked me about that decision. I wonder what happens if you do the opposite... There's payoff when you take him.

Did you finish it? Because I felt the same way, but then that chapter just dragged on... :)

The overal chapter would've been fine if it didn't drag on for so long. the
whole keycard upgrade hunt
was a waste of time and basically filler.

Gladio
complaining ALL THE TIME

Had to resort to a walkthrough for Costlemark. I still have no clue how you're supposed to go through that labyrinth without one. I ended up with the Fire Giants like 10 times. Well, at least I have 200k exp to cash in.

If an infinite number of monkeys hold L2 for an infinite amount of time, one of them will probably trigger a summon, eventually.

(Not sure why they couldn't just load the summon first, THEN show the prompt. Seems like such a basic thing to fix.)

Are there any tips for A Menace Sleeps in Castlemark?

I have a saved game at the 40th floor. I manage to get to those 2 big cats and there I get killed every effin time

Fuck me

Yup, But this was a poor gameplay decision.

Why? Personally I never had any issue with it. Gives you the choice whether to summon or not, and also gives the game time to load the model and animation if you do.

I think the bigger issue was that I had no idea if I could press anything else when I was holding it... Because often I had to get way from enemies. But overall I didn't mind it. It doesn't happen often enough to care.

Haha,
I had Gladio admonish me numerous times for running ahead, and all I thought was, I don't have time for Ignis, I must complete this dungeon quickly!

Actually! Why does the game force you to crouch and walk slowly in dungeons? It's so annoying, I have to constantly hold down O to run!

I feel like my biggest issue with this game is the lack of urgency and a focused antagonist.
Why do i give a shit about the empire again?
They sure dont seem too keen on being any kind of a real threat.

Ardyn?
What an ass clown.

And then faceless npcs die off screen and im supposed to give a shit?

If the game shows you a button prompt, I think it's reasonable to expect that prompt to do something.

I don't need a button prompt to let me know that the game is starting to load a summon and may-or-may-not finish before my AI companions have killed off the rest of the enemies.

Is there some kind of indication that the summon is "loading" or charging up? I only did it once last night and it was in the middle of a chaotic battle so I couldn't really notice. It's surprising the mechanic wasn't really introduced to you other than a random button prompt that appears out of nowhere.

The only evidence that the game is loading something is the delay since you hold the L2 trigger and the time the summon actually appears. Loading such huge models and effects on the fly would've been impossible.

So I'm 30 hours in, lvl 45 and at Chapter 8. I guess I can go to Altissia whenever I feel like it now, but I think I might just do side quests until I'm lvl 50 before I venture on to what seems to be a wonderful and magical place.

Yeah I think that's a big thing that's missing - there's a lack of a tactile feeing of interaction, even if it's simply the animation of opening a chest. It's not enough to be a problem, but if it was there it would totally change the QOL feel of the game.

When roaming the open world, what's the piece of music that starts playing after a while called?

There's cool music when you run around the world? Hmmm, maybe I should stop listening to the MP3 player all the time.
