Hmmm can someone here give me some advice how to fish properly. I don't understand how it works haha.
Yup, But this was a poor gameplay decision.

QOL feel of the game.
I know they tell you in the tutorial room, but I can't remember if they tell you in the actual game to be honest.
I feel like my biggest issue with this game is the lack of urgency and a focused antagonist.
Why do i give a shit about the empire again?
They sure dont seem too keen on being any kind of a real threat.
Ardyn?
What an ass clown.
And then faceless npcs die off screen and im supposed to give a shit?
Pardon my ignorance, what does this mean?
I actually find myself having trouble with this now too. What am I supposed to do when the red bar appears? I am reeling a little to create little movement but it most often doesn't seem to work.
Also, I think the story is still good at Chapter 8. But I guess it's going downward starting from 11?
Galdin Quay*
So barely started (chapter 3). I'm finding all of these things that go into the treasure tab in my inventory. Should I just sell those or are some of those actually used for something?
Also, not sure I understand the staying at hotels or camps. You get xp for it.... so should I just be doing it all the time? Is there any reason not to do it?

Oh definitely.
First few times when the sky went brown and I wondered what the fuck was happening.
Worst still, you need to get clear of an enemy before the button prompt appear which beats the purpose of a summon to help you.
Sorry, it's just that I have such a lust for that tune. :v
Funny, that's one of the aspects I enjoyed the most about the game. Felt a return to form for old FF games like VII.

Are you telling me that you never felt a sense of urgency throughout VII?
What?
And there was a defined antagonist by disc 1s end
That's for when you have a bite. I think he might be talking about when you cast your line and the red bar appears indicating you have the fish's attention. This has also been a challenge for me. I reel the line a little bit and move the stick to create a little movement, but it's really hard to get a bite, and it mostly doesn't work.Stop reeling and move the thumbstick in whatever direction the fish is going. Once the red disappears you can continue reeling without your line being in danger.

Ardyn is the antagonist since chapter 1Are you telling me that you never felt a sense of urgency throughout VII?

I heard someone earlier mention that camping gives more AP (if anyone wants to chime in on the details, feel free). Hotels / Inns obviously give significantly more XP. Camps also let Ignis cook and are generally more fun imo.
If you store up a lot of XP, you can stay at a fancy hotel and get a ton of levels all at once, which is kind of satisfying. At the same time, it's seems like it's incredibly difficult to not over level in this game, so yeah.
"A gigantic meteor is falling down and will the planet at any minute, causing Sephiroth to become a god. Let's go race some Chocobos and practice Virtual Snowboarding."
If what eventually becomes side mini games is enough to detract from some of the games urgent moments like weapon approaching junon or storming shinras HQ or retrieving the materia on the runaway train then well have to agree to disagree on this front.
There's definitely a "get AP from camping" slot in the Ascension grid.
People loved the ending because ofJust beat it. No actual story Spoilers.
I was honestly expecting a far more involved ending since I've heard near universal praise for it. I mean it's fine but definitely not the best ending in the series as some claimed. FFX and I had far endings to me. I have to admit, the post credits scene was pretty good though.
I feel like I need to go into the spoiler thread to clear stuff up now though. The way the story was told leaves so much to be desired. The potential for am amazing story is there, but it's missing good direction and focus.
People loved the ending because ofthe camp scene or the final scene with Noctis and Luna
Thepart with Noctis killing Ardyn was just okay
The point is that the protagonists are free to engage in silly side activities despite the world being in mortal danger. The same happens in XV.
I agree its optional in VII.
What i am saying in regards to XV is that EVERYTHING seems pointless because its a pile of nonsense plotwise.
Dont mistake this for hate.
I love the combat and the high end dungeons.
But I wont pretend the story is compelling to me whatsoever.
Just entered Chapter 8. On the empire:I can't even tell what Noctis and co.'s attitude towards them is supposed to be.
The only real motivation that I can ascribe to our merry gang is that they want revenge on the empire. At the same time, they seem to think Ardyn is creepy but otherwise have no problem being civil with him. Why don't try try to kidnap him, or attack him? They buddy up with Aranea pretty quickly, despite the fact that she had previously tried to kill them and (as far as they know) she could have been directly involved in the destruction of their home city and the murder of their friends / family. They walk away from Ravus without really confronting him over anything.
Similarly, it feels like the named Niflheim are all relatively friendly towards Noctis et al. While random soldiers will drop in and try to kill them, the named side characters regularly interact with them on amicable terms. Which doesn't seem to bother the main characters at all, for some reason.
Also, Niflheim was okay proclaiming that Luna had been killed, but now it's common public knowledge that she's alive. How does Niflheim feel about that? Did they not actually want her dead, despite spreading propaganda that she was dead?
It's all very weird. I assume the game will explain it at some point, but this story inconsistency has gone on for north of 25 hours now.

I liked the entire ending. I cannot ignore Regis' specter beside the throne, and his moment of doubt before killing his own son.
the part with Regis was pretty good too. I hated how they changed Noctis outfit during the final moments. He looks so much better in the Kingsglaive outfit. I don't like the suit.
I have a question:
So apparently because this game literally explains nothing to the player I came to the realization a couple of nights ago that I may have missed out on upgrading my weapons. I'm at the end of chapter 6 in. Cid is apparently there, can I approach him to upgrade my Engine Blade, or have I missed out on this?Cape Caem
Note: I am exclusively using Royal Arms at the moment and have been for as long as I have been discovering them, which isn't a bad way to play, but they gradually drain my HP and MP and remove the use of link strikes. I've been making my way comfortably through the game, but would like to fully upgrade a few weapons now before going any further.
The game DOES explain weapon upgrade.
And no, you cannot miss it. You can do the weapons ugprade whenever you want throughout the game.
So do I have to go to Cid still?

Yes, you can go to Cid and kickstart the quest whenever you want.
I loved the english voice acting in general, and Ignis was indeed charming. But Prompto takes the cake, man. Just, Prompto.
ENDING SPOILERS:
Also, Noctis' voice actor REALLY delivered his final lines in a very believable way. It truly got to me.

Yea it seems like it was supposed to be available at the start of the game but as soon as Cid shows up at the place in your spoiler all of a sudden I could upgrade all of my weapons, one of a time very slowly of course.
There was no update or any sign showing I could, I was just luck enough to check at that time. I thought it was a glitch but I guess it wasn't.
Omg! I was just fighting a red giant at night andrandomly flew in and joined the bros! She's the best.Aranea
Always hold the left stick in a direction, never neutral. Watch which direction the fish is swimming in and move the stick in that direction to release tension. Reel in until you feel the controller start to vibrate, because that means the tension meter (hidden) is filling up and your line's durability is about to start going down. Upgrade your gear for an easier time (vesperpool has the best stuff you can buy).
