Final Fantasy XV SPOILER THREAD

The Witcher 2 added some scenes in the Enhanced Edition if I remember right, but that was pitched more as a "director's cut" release/update well after the initial release rather than an update announced right after the game came out. Not to mention the fact that TW2 made sense pretty much all the way through upon release :p

yep

FINAL FANTASY XV - INTERNATIONAL -

Updating the production of the second half of the game, further enhancing the experience of the story. For example, we are planning to add event scenes where “What happened to Ravus?” was from. In addition to the event scenes, voice responses and localization work to all languages will occur so we will work firmly on this as a mid-term goal. Details of the plan will be announced once it’s decided.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH THEY LEARNED NOTHING FROM FFXIV.

FINAL FANTASY XV - INTERNATIONAL -

You know, this is actually a pretty apt comparison. I don't think any game ever (or, at least, a very, very select few, particularly 2-man indies who can take their sweet time) ships in a state that the dev team is completely happy with. Everything from International, to Final Mix, to IZJS, to pure Director's Cuts in other franchises.

Not saying FFXV's storytelling isn't a little undercooked compared to those other games, but it's not exactly a new precedent, just one that's in an era of being able to digitally patch games, and perhaps one people really, really don't want to see in a mainline FF.

Well the thing is, like what I said in the other thread, the previous international, final mix versions all "enhanced" the game. This one is to fix the game first, from the sound of it.

I think the way to fix the post-patch cutscene parts for those who've completed the game is to allow the user to go back to the said chapter at any time after beating the game.

Ravus, but also the entire empire casting needs more scenes, Love the fact that in the 2013 trailer, you can see the emperor, but in the final game, you see in 1s in his human form and that's it, I guess. You'll meet him later in Chapter 13 in his daemon form.

And also seeing the full invasion of Insomnia, not just some quick cuts.

I think there should at least be one human to daemon transformation that Noctis/the player actually witnesses. Just to have some sort of basic picture what actually happens there.
The Emperor would be imo a good example. You even stumble upon his throneroom..
Would imo be awesome to find the Emperor, who you at that point think is one of the main baddies, in a really bad state. Many, including me, didn't even realize the daemon you fight at one point is actually Aldercapt. I had the subtitles and speaker names turned off. I just thought: Well that was a strangely chatty daemon... o.O

A lot of people will tell you KH2 is kinda jank without FM critical mode. But yeah, that's not story, that's gameplay.

I think though, in 10 years ultimately people will remember the latest version of a game that's been signed off. Whether it's FM, IZJS, etc.

10 years isn't that far off

it's just a cutscene away

I agree.

Nomura also likes to add cutscenes into KH games. The purpose is usually to hint the next games.

It (the Enhanced Edition) also coincided with the Xbox 360 release of the game. So a lot of the updates came from the development of that too.

Is Yoshida the only one who knows what he's doing over there
Sometimes it sure seems that way.

Even when Yoshida misses the mark, I feel like he usually gets why his team missed the mark. I don't always (or even all that often) get that feeling with the rest of the boobs over there.

I'm not sure if I'll be happy or sad if all these changes turn 15 into a coherent game.

Happy because it might be worth playing after a year of changes.

Sad because they were willing to sell us unfinished garbage.

I think they 100% need to add something like a chapter select for post-game saves. Just let you warp to a chapter from Umbra and then still keep the warp to "past Lucis" option that just puts you right back into post-game Lucis.

Sometimes it sure seems that way.

They should've put Yoshida on FFXV fix up duty. He can be SE's fixer, turning broken games with no hope into top tier efforts. Though saying that, I might just prefer he stay making more of the best FF game in years.

Edit:
My mistake for not clarifying my intent with those Kingsglaive images

I wasn't commenting on the style, I was commenting on the changes in Luna's character and the total absence of the Emperor in the game. An Emperor/Ardyn onscreen presence was something I was looking forward to.

What happened??

WHAT HAPPENED!?

This game gave me serious blue balls.

Kingsglaive Luna looks so much more unique

The next FFXV update adds a glowing red moon in the sky that keeps getting closer and closer.....

In all honesty I don't see the red moon coming back as it seemed to be a big plot point maybe something to do with the scourge. I don't see half of what was intended coming in after it's all said and done but their patch plans seem to indicate they will try.

Haha I was trying to make a FFXIV reference http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Dalamud. It's funny it could actually fit in to FFXV as well though.

Luna in the final game was a bit more pale but I don't think the model was any different.

Kingsglaive Luna had me under the impression that she wouldn't go out like a punk. Such is the life of a tragic waifu

just finished the game. Story meh, characters meh. best thing was the future Ignis because he looks like Albert Wesker. Dont understand why so much people said they have to cry a lot.

There's a couple of cutscenes where Luna comments on her ailing health. The final model portrays that a lot better than 2014/2015.

One of my bigger gripes with this game is that all of the final/strongest weapons (not counting Royal Arms) look like garbage, there isn't any uniqueness or flare to any of them.

The first two engine blades and fire/lightning greatswords are really the only good designs out of the whole lot.

So that's means either way Luna is gonna die sooner or later due to her failing health, it's just that Ardyn sped up the process?

What the fuck is that Adamantoise boss fight? We go from mission 64 in FFXIII to this, even the Adamantoise in FFXIII were so much better. Was hoping for a super difficult fight with a lot of thinking not this grind.

I can't stop pronouncing "Ravus" as "Rahvus" and "Caelum" as "Caylum". Years of pronunciation turned on its head for me. Same with "Duscay" and "Tenebray".

Sealed Dungeons

lollllll so we were beta testers.

I got to the very beginning of Chapter 5, so I guess I shouldn't play the rest of it for now.
You're good to play until chapter 9. Just don't get on the boat in chapter 8 because the game takes a nosedive in quality, both story telling and cutscene quality.

Just do the open world stuff for a while.

not finished the game yet. But I really really really liked chapter 9. it was like some crazy ff & KH mashup. just a shme the story is starting to feel rushed. the lack of backstory and fleshing out on a lot of the key NPC's is a real shame.
