Final Fantasy XV SPOILER THREAD

Regarding the Emperor talk a few pages ago: I like that he turned into a common daemon. I like that for all his ambition, he was still just Ardyns pawn at the end. Not even a rook. A pawn. I don't like that he was unceremoniously didposed of with nary a second thought from Noctis. This guy was the figurehead of your kingdoms destruction! Spit on the ground, call him pathetic, ANYTHING!

I will welcome the story fix patch. There's a good story buried in there and it'd be a shame to keep it as is right now.
I hated chapter 13 but that ending kinda won me over.

Just picked this up, looks like someone on the localization team is a fan of The Simpsons

For the unaware, it's a reference to this scene.

You know, they could have made a good point of that but instead the only reason we know it's Iedolas is because the subtitles have is name right there. I had to stop and remember who the fuck Iedolas was since I'm pretty sure they say his name no more than twice over the course of the game. If they were really trying to hammer how insignificant he was in the face of Ardyn's dastardly scheming they mighta went a bit too far

His robe is on his throne, implying he turned into a daemon like everyone else in the fortress. So when you kill a daemon who starts mumbling about his conquest ambitions it's not so hard to put things together. But still, the imperial side sure got shafted in this story.

What the what? New cutscenes?

I beat the game, how will i see these?

New Game +?

Honestly, I'm interested in replaying the game just to intentionally not over level myself this time.
Random encounters become complete bores and you never get a chance to appreciate the regional musics because you one shot everything.

OK I finished this game.
Enjoyed it but shame could have been alot more.
My problem with this game is that the story is too short.Alot of characters aren't fleshed out which is a shame. I beat the game in 22 hours. Think story needs to be around 40 hours minimum.

Edit:

Oh yeah and fuck chapter 13...went on for way too long.

Pretty much, yeah.

I think the second half of the game is just a massive shame. The world seems fantastic, but it just isn't utilized. It could have been so much more, and I think that's just why I find myself so disappointed.

There just isn't enough story, and what's there ended up being messy and disjointed.

I mean it'll help, but a few cutscenes here and there isn't going to entirely fix it, in my opinion.

I really hope the next FF game will come with characters that have alot of backstory. That for me makes characters fun. IMO FFXV felt really shallow with that :( .

Edit;
I liked the personalities of the main cast but felt they had no backstory at all.Maybe noctis a very little bit.

Everyone in the other thread is cheering at the announcement of story patches but... seriously? It's kind of just... dumb. When I saw the thread title I just laughed because of course they're going to patch the story in. Of course they are. It says everything you need to know about this game, really.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH THEY LEARNED NOTHING FROM FFXIV.

3steps.jpg

FFXIV hasn't learned this from FFXIV, they still routinely add half-broken or fundamentally flawed content to the game only to fix it later. And they're still solving problems the game had at the start of 2.0, next patch they're finally allowing you to use your chocobo and the game's duty finder at the same time, after three fuckin' years.

The entire raid design of 3.0 was a comedy of errors that they always pledged to fix the next time around. They're full of shit.

Well it's a good thing they're not leaving it to die. You say of course they are but it wouldn't be the first game to not patch issues.

It's not a good thing they released it in a incomplete state.

Finally finished the game, hence I am back!
I'm not spoiler tagging because this is a SPOILER thread.

For the updates they really need:

1. Have Ifrit and Bahamut available summons post game. Like I was disappointed to find out that there's only 4 you can actually summon. Also in the expansion pack, add an optional Knights of the Round summon quest, please!

2. The second half areas like Cartarnica and Tenebrae explorable. Maybe do a post game where everything is restored and you can walk around? Like in Cartarnica, you could clearly see off the distance (with bridges etc), I don't understand why they couldn't have just made that explorable.

3. IDK if it's too much to ask for the 2nd continent to be drive-able with the Regalia, even if there's just one main road along the train tracks.

4. Someone mentioned before, but post game feature where you can recruit a 5th member of the party to your choosing among the ones included in the game, even more.

How dare you say anything against Lord Yoshida. He will save Final Fantasy!

I would give my left arm for a playable Cartanica (with TOOOOWNNNNZ) bc it was gorgeous. Gave me serious FFXII vibes which is always a good thing. Then you spend the whole time there in either a train station or a dark miserable mine...

are you sure that its not a legacy issue of supporting the PS3?

The only way for FFXIV was going up since it was already scrapping the bottom.

If people say FFXIII is incredibly terrible, I'd tell them to play the OG FFXIV and come back to me.

I don't think anyone has actually disagreed with this but I still fail to see how is this actually contributes to the solution. What do you think they should do now?

I don't think this roadmap will make everyone happy just like how SFV's and RB4's never did but it's 100% a worse situation if they pretended they were completely happy with the final product and played deaf to the obvious and loud negative responses which was a common error in Japanese publishers in the past. There's no way to please people who completed the game and don't feel like replaying it so it's only possible to leave these people for the next game or completely behind.

Leaving this game behind and immediately start working on XVI doesn't guarantee the latter free of another development hell because SE can always find a new way to screw up lol.

I'm not sure exactly what you're commenting on? I'm fairly happy with them patching up the game for the moment.

I mean it's an interesting debate whether it would have been better to just ditch it and move onto the next game.

I think I'd refrain from commenting on that until I see how long they actually spend on it.

Working on fixes like that doesn't stop XVI or whatever from being worked on. Pre-production generally doesn't have a massive team anyway. So I don't see the problem for now.

Mind you, I do wonder if they'd consider making sequels even though Tabata seemed against it. Just for the same reason they made them for XIII, trying to recoup costs.

So I turned on vibration and it helped tremendously for catching big fish. I never knew there was a "struggle phase" where the controller will vibrate a lot and you won't reel in as much compared to other.

I mean, is it really this Final Fantasy that is broken or is it the whole brand at this point? Seems to me that the only thing SE has been able to decently in the last decade is milk nostalgia for the old games with spin-offs.

Dissidia
Theatrhythm
World of Final Fantasy
HD Remasters and 3D Remakes
Etc.

And even a lot of that is divisive or questionable.

And now FF7 Remake.

FFXIV ARR is praised for being a good MMO but it took a whole lot to right that ship. It was total garbage when it launched. Personally, I think giving the MMOs mainline numbers is a cheat, anyway.

I don't think SE knows what to do with the main series. I don't know that we should expect them to be able to make a solid, confident, self-contained FF game that could ever measure up to the classics. They see it as this multimedia conglomeration that is more about branding than anything else. I don't think they really know what it even is beyond chocobos and crystals.
And Cup Noodles

They keep trying to reinvent the game radically, too, making it more dumbed down and more complex at the same time to try and get a bigger audience with each entry. They poor so much money into it, building all these vertical slices, having seperate teams churning out terrabytes of art and assets, all of it lacking any real cohesion or unified vision. It's a big mess.

Hironobu Sakaguchi was really the soul of the franchise and the farther we get away from him the more lost and confused it gets.

A Final Fantasy For Fans And First-Timers my ass.

Lol I'm glad I decided to hold off on buying FFXV, I can keep myself busy playing games that were actually finished like P5 until this game gets patched to completion.

Someone hand over the steering wheel to Yoshida please, he seems to at least have some idea of what he's doing.

My argument is it's all management issues though.

I mean i'm going to be honest, I think ALL of XII, XIII and XV's problems amount to development issues and poor management.

I think there was a solid foundation in XV. The world was fantastic, the combat while not faultless was pretty solid, the story had some interesting ideas, and even the characters had potential. It just feels like they ran out of time. So bits of the story got cut out because it hadn't been finished, which in turn probably caused sections to be swapped around and thus you get this issue where it just felt entirely disjointed. Also parts of the game just didn't get enough polish.

Now being able to solve these management issues is another thing entirely. It's pretty worrying that so many of their titles have suffered from it.

Then, before his spirit departs the world, Noctis makes peace with the spirits of Prompto, Ignis and Gladio, who sacrificed themselves so Noctis could commune with the kings of old and end the star-scourge.)

Completely misinterpreted that scene IMO. That is their last night together when he tells them he has to die in order to cleanse the scourge. Thats why Prompto says "oh... right" when he asks for a picture to take with him at the very end.

There is nothing to indicate that they died or that the conversation was in the afterlife.

I mean it'll help, but a few cutscenes here and there isn't going to entirely fix it, in my opinion.

For me, a few more story cutscenes to flesh out the second half story. That is where all my major issues lie.

Were not going to get all those additional open world areas in tenebrae or any of the other places you go to, but I don't think anyone would want that. We all know it would just be more of the same side quests in a different backdrop, which wouldn't be fun.

Oh, absolutely. But that's who I'm largely referring to when I say Sqaure Enix.

So is there anyone here who didn't pick Cindy's picture at the end, Luna looking at Cindy then smiling was by far the best part of the ending.

Picture of Ardyn is still the highest form of comedy.

"Hey here's the guy who stabbed you and stuff"

The cutscenes will make a difference. Another easy way to improve the game would be to add more conversations between the boys (not cutscenes, just them talking as you're doing other stuff) that includes exposition.

For example, Noctis would say something like "Luna looked so sick when I saw her. Being the Oracle has dwindled her health because she has to blah blah blah..."

Bandaids like that would go a long way in fixing the storytelling.

Well just finished the game. Need to read this thread at last! i honestly must've been hit in the head because some parts of the story made no sense to me.

I had fun with the game, but that chapter 13 dear lord... had to stop playing yesterday because i couldn't take it anymore.

Indeed, cutscenes are expensive but dialogues would go a long way and be cost effective.

I want to see someone make a "FFXV Story Explained" video, and they just keep playing Noctis grunting and screaming over the entire exposition.
