The list of wasted characters in this game.
Good post, can't wait to try lvl 1 playthroughso... at level 1, summons aren't nearly as useful as they normally are.
Versus a gigantoad and a boatload of magitek and imperials, after summoning titan.... all of the magitek troopers are not dead. Only half-healthed.
Oh man... (Still haven't game overed which is nice.)
Edit: Okay no seriously whoever thought the current implementation of battle zoning is in anyway satisfactory needs a damn stern talking to. After killing a Gigantoad, and like 15 magitek troopers and imperial troopers, another gigantoad spawned (but isn't in the battle zone and doesn't in any way try to reenter the battle zone) so then I had an empty battle area but if I wanted to attck the Gigantoad, I'd go outside of it and wouldn't enter a new one when attacked. It was basically an enemy with infinite health not willing to attack me.
Listen, The idea behind these battle zones is actually quite nice, and in theory work a lot better than say something like from ff12. But (much like a lot in this game, unfortunately (as much as I like this game, i have to admit at least that)) the execution is just infuriating. It is the single most fundamentally fucked thing about this battle system; it is the laziest implementation of this system you possibly could make. It has taken me out of the game going "wai-what?" way too many freakin times.
There should be NO time where attacking an enemy doesn't lead to a battle state
There should be NO or very very little opportunity of accidentally exiting a fight
There should be NO potential for a combat zone to be empty and yet still active because some toad doesn't wanna play by the game's rules
These are FUNDAMENTAL to zoning, things that games like Kingdom hearts (ALL OF THEM), basically ANY action rpg for that matter, and hell even FF12 (despite the fact I don't like how "fleeing" just means jogging at a speed that is only slightly faster but not really) got down right. This game has no right in having the zoning be this fundamentally fucked up.
Now this is fixable by 3 ways:
1: Have the zone expand if enemies are near its edge. Noct moves faster than most enemies and warps faster than... every enemy so making a changeable size is fine
2: Have a timer where you have to be out of the zone for like 5-10 seconds before the fight is considered over. This way if you have to warp outside (say to a warp point) you can still warp back in without losing battle progress.
3: Have attacking enemies not in battle zones create new battle zones. I should never be able to attack an enemy and not immediately enter a battle zone. I also know that magitek troopers have basically random zoning, so this isn't impossible. Seriously, if you attack an enemy while not in combat and not around an already established zone, that should create an instantaneous zone.
3 very basics fixes. Number 2 is the most basic, while number 3 would probably be hardest to implement them. But seriously this shit needs to be fixed asap.
doing a level 1 run has made me utterly livid that someone who is getting paid to design games looked at this implementation of zoning (probably the most fundamental(though maybe not most important) aspect of action combat) and said "yeah thats fine".
Its NOT fine.

Wow rude much
You need really good legs to jump that high. Gurl is a 10.
Pitioss. Damn. I am terrible at jumping puzzles and that was a test of patience. Can't believe I wasted 2 hours getting through that thing.
now that i beat the game, i haven't looked at a guide yet. just came over here to discuss the story.
how do i get into those locked vault looking things in the dungeons?
I can totally understand some people hating this dungeon with a passion, but I felt a Dark Souls level of accomplishment from finishing. A game that can continually surprise me like this deserves credit and this was one of the best (or worst) surprises for me this year.
Complete all the dungeons and a quest will appear at the hunter HQ outpost, some old lady holds the key.
I'm almost positive that Pitoss is the dungeon Edge was talking about in their preview of the game. Pitoss reminded me why i fell in love with Squaresoft in the first place. "Hey lets take this dungeon here and put an entirely different game in it". And pretty much everyone loves it.
I know why we didn't see more of that kind of stuff in the main game, but hopefully in the future Square will see how much people enjoyed that departure, and wont be afraid to incorporate platforming elements to shake stuff up more.
The design and figuring out what to do or where to go was great. The actual platforming drove me insane though.I'm almost positive that Pitoss is the dungeon Edge was talking about in their preview of the game. I just finished the game. I'm crazy emotional and I have alotta questions....
Ask away!
By the way, I just fucking can't get enough of "Hellfire", especially the third part. DAMN, brings chills to my spine. Such an epic composition! And one that will go down in Final Fantasy history as one of the greatest.![]()
Lol, I actually feel like I cheated playing with Type B. I pretty much never let go off Dodge (L1) during combat and I almost always automatically parried attacks that had a "Guard" prompt without much effort and often by accident because I was currently attacking another target while holding L1 in between the attack button presses and it instantly registered my dodge of another enemy and then immediately afterwards when I did another attack towards my current target it also activated the parry of the other target without my intention. I'm not sure if they realized how fundamentally different the balance is between Type A and B. If they wanted it to be fair it should've been necessary to press L1 again after every attack, so that you actually have to time the exclusive switch between both stances. I hope my post makes sense, lol. I'm tired right now.Pitioss had pretty bad gameplay, just a clunky platforming section in a game not made for platforming, didn't waste time on it.
And the reward? You start the game with a Black Hood anyway, it's just called Control Type B.
No timeskip Cindy design?
No timeskip Iris design?
Cor?
Aranea?
Ardyn... is related to Noctis?
Lucis bloodline is dead?
Hahaha thanks, Ishida.
First off.... overall I'm incredibly impressed and I love the experience. FFXV was a great ride. It has it's problems but it's ultimately a great ride.
The ending was incredibly sad. And maybe I'm just dumb... but the sudden drop into sadness and depression really hit me. Like I was hoping that Luna really wasn't dead..... turns out, oh, she really IS dead.
Noctis really is/was doomed.
Prompto's timeskip is worse than Ignis and Gladio's amazing timeskip design.

Final Fantasy XV is like the greatest book you've ever read where half of it's chapters are seemingly missing.
Just finished it yesterday. Game had it's flaws (a lot of it was in it's story) but despite this and all the story gaps it was a world with characters that I cared about it.
If there is one consolation, I think it's very likely we'll see a FFXV-2, and I hope it starts off in a post-Noct world.
Gotta get more time/budget for that, sorry.
Ardyn is a former king of Lucis, but whether he's actually related or not is left open for interpretation.
Yup. Ardyn wins, baby.

I keep seeing posts wishing for DLC during World of Ruin, but I don't understand why. It would be super boring to just play at night in the dark. I want new cool locations for the DLCs, which the Prompto and Gladio ones are luckily promising (the snowy area for Prompto and the mysterious caves and ruins for Gladio).I really would have loved some post-time skip designs of the characters. Imagine some DLC where you play as Iris, Aranea, or Cor, that would be awesome.
I think a pre-Noct world has a lot more potential.
Prequels could follow the roadtrip of young Regis, or the story of Ardyn.
I just want a playable female character, doesn't have to be in the World of Ruin section. A DLC with one would be cool.I keep seeing posts wishing for DLC during World of Ruin, but I don't understand why. It would be super boring to just play at night in the dark. Unlike, say, FFX, where we pretty much know the story of Jecht and his companions, FFXV's past is still shrouded in mystery.Yeah, but the prequel stuff also has the burdern of being stories of yesterday. Ultimately because we already know how those characters end up. It's like we've already been spoiled with anything a prequel could cover.
What I'd think be more interesting, is to see the world after all this happened. With no Royalty blood line, the rebuilding of the Empire and Insomnia. To see what happens to Prompto, Ignis, and Gladiolus. At one point I think Gladiolus was saying he was going to get married? Like, what?
I could easily see Altissia trying to make a power move after all this has happened. In a post-demon world with no Royal bloodline and no Oracle, I think it'd be neat.
In general, I just hate prequels. I already know how the story ends. Just a personal preference, but I hope it's a direct sequel continuation.
Just got my plat for FFXV. 4th one so far since they are not something I usually go for. (Transistor, Resogun and Guacamelee! are my other three)
Thinking I need a break, but are the sealed dungeons worth the effort? Anything special about them worth going on for? New boss designs maybe?
It's basically just there for the challenge. Give you some of the best weapons in the game as well. The bosses, if I recall correctly, are all more or less bosses you've faced before, but with a different color. You won't see an entirely new monster design.
Yeah, chapters 10-14 hit you like a brick to the face, I agree.
I think the crazy thing about Luna was she had to have known about Noctis needing to die (Regis knew, why wouldn't the Oracle lineage?), so she's not just killing herself to give Noctis power, she (along with Gentiana) are basically leading Noctis to death the entire way. Its super crazy tragic.
I think Prompto's deign is fine. Like the goatee and his face is definitely more mature now.
As for the others' designs, it seems like a huge amount of world or ruin was cut (if leaks are to be believed, timeskip lestallum was actually already made). I agree that i would love to see those characters post time skip (or in Cor's case, any point in time at all really)
Its implied by banter in the Citidel that Ardyn is indeed of the royal blood. It seems to suggest Izunia was a cousin or something that usurped or took over Ardyn's namesake or something. Its unfortunately left a little too vague.
Oracle Bloodline is dead, Lucis Bloodline is dead, The gods are dead (at the very least Ifrit is, but since Noct has their spirits inside of them through the blessings, it can be implied that they die with him), the Scourge is dead, the Crystal has no more power.
Magic in Eos is basically gone now. Its a world at pure equilibrium, and yet its super tragic in getting there.
Yeah. My save before and after finishing was 2:35. If it wasn't for a YouTube walkthrough for the middle section with all the spikes and moving platforms, I would've given up. I definetly skipped over a few items. You finished it in 2 hours? You're either really good at platformers or you managed to find the most direct route through there. It took me at least 4.5, I was looking for loot all over but even without it would have taken me at least 3 hours.
The more and more I think about it.... this game is very depressing and sad.
Regis dead.
Luna dead. I honestly believed she would turn out alive. My heart broke when it turned out that she really IS dead.
Noctis dead.
Ravus dead.
NO WONDER Noctis was dreading this journey the entire time. NO WONDER Regis was dreading the journey the entire time.
I.... I look back at the marketing for this game and I honestly thought we were gonna get a happy ending.
Just wow. Noctis is dead. He didn't even get to live a real fulfilling life. The guys were LITERALLY all he had.
The moment you realize that this is the only FF game where the bad guy wins*

And what's the deal with Prompto? Ardyn was TORTURING HIM? Prompto was infected to become a monster?????
Now I'm worried that Sora from Kingdom Hearts will share the same fate.
