Final Fantasy XV SPOILER THREAD

We went from the excitement to the bashing of the gane now. It isn't a bad thing but it's a lot to take in actually. Oh well. Guess the next title that many are looking forward to is Kingdom Hearts 3 now.

XV and KH3 are gonna be compared so much now.
well don't forget final 7 remake is coming out but yeah kh3 and xv are the two games compared to and i know nomura wont let us down when it come to kh3

Sleeping on it, the ending is actually great. I like how everyone dies. But Ardyn needed a mutated form. I don't give a shit about motive. Tabata spent years trying to sell the "bromance" angle to justify the lack of important females (which is worse than I expected in the final game)...And the bros are completely forgotten for the ending and end boss. Come on!

Final boss should have been ghost bros and Noctis, vs Void Ardyn. No way around it. What we have is a huge cockblock.

Now see, we say this now but if that did happen people would be saying "if they are all ghosts then why isn't Luna and King Regis fighting with them either? And if that happened then people will ask, well why aren't they just alive then?

It will never end.

Lunas death scene was actually quite beautiful, even with the horrible compression. One of the nicer ways to die lol.

I guess this picture is going to be looking much different soon

Gotta add the missing ones to have a full gallery of great FF "Final Boss: Final Forms"(FF1, FF4, FF5, FF8, FF12 and FF13):

God putting these side by side shows how progressively stupider the designs have been getting.

Like wtf is Zeromus supposed to look like. And I have no idea what I'm looking at for Neo Exdeath

Nah. Tabata said it was a story about brothers. It's why every female character is vapid and empty, according to his logic. If you wanna do bromance, well, do it. Otherwise, it feels cheap, empty and bland.

Ending is the antithesis of bromance. It negates the entire point of the whole thing. If the whole game was all Noctis and Luna, until she died...then I'd be powerful as all hell. But it ain't. Ending is about Noctis and the human plot point.

I'm glad I'm reading these spoilers, everything seems so fucking bad that when presented in game I will either be completely prepared for it, or it will actually be better. It cant possibly be worse than the spoilers suggest

I would love to know if the Leviathan battle intro is actually closer to what they showed at the E3 2013 as the reveal of Final Fantasy XIII Versus turning in XV.

Don't want to see it though.

it will def be better in game with context of the full game

So, does anyone know anything about the time skip? I've seen the ending, so obviously it occurs, I just haven't seen any info as to when it happens, what causes it to happen, what happens during the 10 years, etc.

From the leaked video where you fight Leviathan, it seems extremely dumbed down from the E3 2013 version. IIRC Levi was crashing through buildings and hallways and shit while you run down them (In the 2013 preview); I didn't see any of that, and the color palette has been drastically changed (for the worse).
Also it seems like an un-losable battle since you get god buffs, Armiger, and QTEs to finish him off.

Edit for clarity

E3 2013 also had Noctis being able to jump onto Empire ships.

I feel like anyone expecting the battle to be on the same scale as the E3 trailer was setting themselves up for disappointment tbh.

Yeah, I'm kinda wondering that too. I mean, you have a MASSIVE world-wide threat looming overhead and nations being destroyed(Insomnia, Altissia), people without homes and danger all around. I always felt the idea of going "out of action" amidst this seemed sorta irresponsible. The closest we got to this was the time between the destruction of the World and Balance and the first few years of the World of Ruin, which everybody in the party pretty much thought each other were dead and were trying to go on the best they could(some even helping the wayward folk in this post-apocalyptic landscape). That gap wasn't THAT long, though. 10 years, the world might as well be beyond saving.

I don't know, I hope the story gives a good answer.

Cherry picking the comments eh? I don't blame you. It's going to be a looooong month haha!

Unless...You're Amy Shiels?!

I don't feel I can add anything to what some are saying without spoiling something.

I'd rather wait till the game is out and people are playing and be able to hear what people think about things within context.

Edit: That being said, it is reading reactions to scenes totally out of context. And slightly disappointing as I would rather people have the context for these scenes.

Think you should wait and assess the personal animosity between Noctis and Ardyn.

So you are Amy Shiels!!! Wait, you don't want to spoil? But you're in the spoiler threads.

Just kidding (kinda, I hope not, would be cool about Amy) about that! Between the two threads though the bad is heavily outweighing the good vocal wise. I hope things calm down when the game actually comes out at least.

Hey Amy, I think your work is fantastic and I would love to slip in your dms to learn more about any future projects you are doing.

O.O

I guess I'll be disappointed 😞

That trailer gave me hope to fight bosses like God of War 3.

They should invest in the introduction of each Boss/Summon like Santa Monica did with Titans in God of War 3.

That's what I was expecting, they showed so many times the fight with the giant dude and the E3 trailer was amazing. (although I know it was a CGI)

i'm glad i'm reading these spoilers, as i am now completely comfortable holding off on getting this game indefinitely :) ...

I am still confused on why they didn't just get Amy Shiels to voice Luna in Kingsglaive not to slight Lena Headey by any means though.

But I can totally get why they wanted big names attached to the film to sell the movie.

Amid all of the impressions/disappoint/whatever that seems to be going around (Haven't really been following the spoilers, probably going to catch up tonight), I'm glad the one thing seemingly getting praise across the board are the dungeons. I was kind of afraid the dungeon design was going to be an afterthought, but that's seemingly not the case.

I just watched the Leviathan battle. Visually, it's spectacular, and the gameplay flying around shooting magic looks fun. I also watched the final battle and got some great Neo-vs-Smith-in-Matrix 3 vibes. I imagine by that point in the game, we'll hate Ardyn's guts, making the finishing blow(s) especially satisfying.

Only thing I'm unsure about are the bits and pieces I've read in this thread suggesting this game kills off much of the cast (and some unceremoniously so, it would seem). But I've also read comments saying it's an effective ending in context. I think the best approach is to let the game be its own thing.

I don't mind the Ardyn battle. I would have actually liked FF7 more if the final battle was an actual one on one between Cloud and Sephiroth.

FFIX's ending boss was super wonky as a giant space flea from nowhere pops up and serves as the last confrontation in the game while having nothing to do with anything.

She did a fantastic job! I thought she brought a lot of nuance to the character that I wasn't really getting from Luna's Japanese voice actress. Luna's frustration, fear, and strength feels a lot more palpable. I loved how guttural her voice got when she was bellowing Leviathan's name, too. I really enjoyed (well, enjoyed in a depressing way!) the moment of her and Noctis saying goodbye, I thought Shiels and Chase sold it really well. Poor Noctis crying in the aftermath, ow. Chase also did some great work.

Think you should wait and assess the personal animosity between Noctis and Ardyn.

Like I said motive doesn't matter. Ardyn could have the richest, most soul crushing and beautifully sad revenge backstory of all time, and it still wouldn't excuse the lack of "final" battle.

As cool as it is visually...the final battle is just blue balls IMO.

Don't be surprised when there's no party in FFXVI. They couldn't even be bothered to include them for the final boss here.

It's an homage to Dragon Quest 1 ;P

What's with all of you and final boss battles? At least there is one (no one remembers Mass Effect 3?) and it has to do with the plot (hello FFIX).

My main worry from the beginning was the battle system and it still clunky and mashy in the final version of the game. I think the game looks really great graphic wise outside of the hair and the camera issues. FF stories were often an unmitigated disaster (IV, VIII,Crisis Core, XII, XIII saga, Type-0) so it's no surprise here either. Music seems really awesome from what I have seen. People had way too much expectations.

What's the issue here? I don't see any really. I mean sure it would have been nice if the bros fight to the end and not dying RIGHT before the fight when you needed them the most. But I think they're trying to make a Cloud vs Sephiroth like showdown, a man on man rivalry fight deal.
