Although the story seems to be pure butt (although that's really nothing new for this franchise)
This really seems to be a new low, though.

By 2011 when it was still Versus, according to Nomura the game was playable from start to finish, but had trouble running stably on PS3's hardware. It was at this time they decided to move assets over to PS4, continuing development and even recreating some assets in higher quality. The project was pretty much moving foward. I'm guessing at this point Nomura was co-directing with Tabata, which was announced alongside the reveal in 2013.
I love Nomura but i don't believe Versus was fully playable at all
As in a playable build. Not retail ready.I love Nomura but i don't believe Versus was fully playable at all. The only actual gameplay that was shown in the 2013 trailer ran at like 10fps. If it was that far along there would have been no need to remove him for the project. Hell, they wouldn't even need to rebrand it to XV at that point.
So on the credits, it's mostly flashbacks from your adventure?
Anyone know if Ravus or Verstael are boss fights?
I saw the summon, and it seemed like it made a point of focusing on a very human eye inside the armor. And it sure looked like her eye to me.

But that's just a CGI concept render, (i.e. the vast majority of anything we saw from Vesus), that had no bearing on the game itself and likely wouldn't have even made it into the game? Plus it's Nomura, his story would've likely been terrible anyways, there's no way Versus's story would've been even remotely good with Nomura being the writer.
We know Nomura wanted Versus XIII to be a trilogy. Maybe Versus XIII-1 was a pretty short game.
This really seems to be a new low, though.
Yeah, was very emotional.
Ah... speaking of Ravus..
He makes two appearances in the game.. One whin you first meet him and he antagonize Noctis, but Ardyn stop the fight beford it starts.
Later you discover he became a good guy off-screen after his experience with the ring in Kingsglaive, he doubts Noctis's worth but he's now open to help Luna in her quest.
When you go to Niffelhim in the end, you find Ravus corpse along with Regis's sword. It's implied that Ardyn killed him along with everyone in the city.
Ardyn then transforms Ravus's corpse into a demon, but he seems to be aqare of his actions, asking you to finish him off. That's when you get to fight him, and it's a really tough fight.
And people say this is not a downgraded role!? We don't know what Ravus's original role was, but only appealing in 2 scenes and then dying surely reeks of cut material to me.
It would have so much better if Versus was really canceled and we got a brand new FFXV.
It just doesn't feel good and it would be better for Square Enix actually.
They could have turned Versus story into a movie or novel or something and release, fans could get something.
We would get a game that is planned from the start with current gen and SE capabilities in mind with the same staff, from start to release with a brand new concept instead of a 10 yo one.
win-win-win.

Versteal makes a one appearance in an early cutscene, then I never saw him again. Maybe you get to fight him in one of the optional Niffelhim basses?
Bahamut is not Aranea. Bahamut was sleeping inside the crystal for centuries before the game. I also think he was the voice talking to Regis in the Omen trailer (which by the way doesn't make a lot of sense with the game story).
I wish they just have removed it entirely from the game. It's embarrassing how low he came since his epic scene in 2008.
Yeah, was very emotional.

Not the game specifically, the story part of it. Nomura simply cannot do narratives. Remember we're talking about the same dude who wrote this:So basically, your doubling down on making stuff up as you see fit? "The game would have sucked anyway, that would never have made it into the game because i say so", even though i was trying to earnestly debate your point?
Never mind, i know now not to try and debate with you

It all comes down to personal taste when it comes to this.
that's why i said 'rumored' guys.
As for Ardyn...he's pretty understated as a villain. Just a previous Lucian king who was angry that the power of the crstyal didn't recognize him. He got cursed with no aging and was corrupted by the evil within the bloodline. So his whole beef with Noctis is destroying the lucian bloodline and the crystal

The most unironic and cliche use of "my friends are my power."
So what does Iedolas do?
If that's the case then he succeeds then?! I just really feel like this is a game I need to play because without context the story sounds crazy as hell.
Which ones are those and how are they received relative to the heights of the gaming industry?Your referring to Nojima, who also wrote the best many of the best games of the series, but conveniently ignore that to push your own narrative about Nomura did.
If you don't like KH, that's your own viewpoint, but i said i'm not debating with you because your not coming at it from a logical angle, so i'm done.
Dies off screen.
Aranea? Iris?
Nojima is the absolute worst.
Iris becomes a deamon hunter in the world of ruin. Aranea leaves the army to build her own merc group, but she's the only character that's never heard of after the time skip, that's why I think she'll be featured in one of the DLCs.
Nojima is the absolute worst.
Nojima didn't rewrite Tabata's script.
Does Iris' timeskip design look cool?
By the way I love the stories of VII and IX, and find the stories of VI and X very enjoyable, so keep that in mind when I say that the story is a mess. I'm not one of the "FF always had terrible stories" crowd.

The final chapter and the ending though.. were very well done. One of my absolute favorites in the series.
You don't see her, nor do you see Cindy, maybe in the DLC!

How can you say you enjoy VI's story can call XV a mess? VI drops almost every running plot the second the World of Ruin begins.
hear hear. This game is owned by tabata, all the successes and failures. A lot of the dev hell itself is not his fault, and he was under tons of pressure, but he and the script writer under him(one of the dissidia writers i think) made this story, and they are who we should be talking about instead of trying to do weak deflection.
I don't think Jett was trying to deflect anything, he's not a fan of XV, but I mean, its literally been a decade sense Nojima wrote anything that got acclaim, he's more well known today for blowing up Tidus with fucking Blitzball bombs
Nojima's stories might be convoluted but he puts in loads of details into everything that makes characters and locales more interesting and the dialog is generally good.
Certainly not everything happens off screen with non sense every where. That's usually what happens when SE brings in someone else on staff to write and wrap a game ASAP. They don't have a single competent writer in house lol from the looks of it.
They do. They're on XI and XIV.
lmao does everything happen off screen in this game or what.
So what does Iedolas do?

Agree on XIV, but XI hasn't had a story update in over a year it's finished. Why would writer still be on it? plus I remeber Rhapsodies and Adoulin being REALLY divisive story wise among the community.

I'm starting to see a trend with these dropped plot points..
What the hell. As everyone keeps saying, I'm really baffled by how many story moments just happen off-screen.
Oh, wow, the game being so Ravus light is surprising. I especially feel a bit frustrated after Kingsglaive, because I thought - at the very least - Ravus, Iedolas, and possibly Glauca would have some solid resolution or interaction with Noctis in FFXV.
You'll get more Goth Kairi, and you'll like it!
