Was that 4chan leak a few months ago legit?
Solid answer. But stop being lazy. :|Don't want to post it on twitter because it's a spoiler, and too lazy to transfer it using a usb then upload it though pc. too much work.

Probably didn't start with XIII but I remember when there was criticism of the game and how a lot of the important parts were in the datalog and people said "who cares about the story when the gameplay is good"
It was really annoying because it was to keep valid criticisms at bay when the whole basis of the franchise's inception was about storytelling.
FF story always has been leagues ahead of trash stories like Star Ocean, Tales Of and a shitload of other JRPG's out there. I absolutely played them for the story. On PS1 I generally only found Xenogears to be better, and FFT which is an FF.
FFXIII was a dud, but its story was far better than that of Star Ocean or Graces to name a few PS3 JRPG. For an FF it was underwhelming though.
Noo that was one of the main reasons people were disappointed with FFXIII. We had to read the story through the datalog to understand the underlining meaning of things and they wasted their time on other stupid scenes and not enough ingame explaination etc.
I knew nobody that said that the gameplay was good too. It really was just just pressing L1 and change your paradigms and pressing X X X X. I imported the japanese version back then and still regret that decision. Was so fucking hyped too back then and then disappointed. I only had to learn how to read haste and got easily through the game without knowing shit. Played with translations etc. and could have just read the datalog for everything. Now I am angry again.

I just got the Gentiana trophy. Prompto took a random shot for us in a hotel and she was in the background looking at us. Talk about creepy. It seems to be random though.
Also, Fought the Modgarzolom, surprisingly enough it had a unique parry animation where Noctis climbs him. The parry thing is weird since some normal enemies have a very impressive unique parries, while some bosses like Ravus don't have any.

By the way, is this scene in the game at all? https://psmedia.playstation.com/is/image/psmedia/final-fantasy-xv-screen-18-ps4-eu-31mar16?$MediaCarousel_Original$
After reading most of the thread it suddenly confirms my supiccion on why they announced the FF7 remake. They mostlikely know themself that FF15 has a big chance to tank and a FF 7 Remake is the only chance they can do a potential turn around for the series.
I don't think that of all things is why they announced FF7R. That was announced more than 2 years ago, long before anyone could ever know how this game would do
I doubt it. The visuals don't even look that detailed anymoreBy the way, is this scene in the game at all? https://psmedia.playstation.com/is/image/psmedia/final-fantasy-xv-screen-18-ps4-eu-31mar16?$MediaCarousel_Original$

Pretty sure that thing where she grasps the ring has been removed, as Hillary Clinton interacts with her and is the reason the guards come in. Seriously, that npc that runs Altissia looks a LOT like Hillary Clinton.By the way, is this scene in the game at all? https://psmedia.playstation.com/is/image/psmedia/final-fantasy-xv-screen-18-ps4-eu-31mar16?$MediaCarousel_Original$
1990s......when?
1990s.
I don't know about "best," but it's not like I'm going to laud the rest of the fifth gen for its writing chops......when?
What else would challenge it? Name names.I don't think so...
The story in XIII wasn't actually all that terrible. And the cutscenes were certainly directed exceptionally well. The 'ole "who cares about the story" mantra really took hold when XIII-2 landed and the story was complete and total ass and undermined just about anything good XIII brought to the table.Probably didn't start with XIII but I remember when there was criticism of the game and how a lot of the important parts were in the datalog and people said "who cares about the story when the gameplay is good"

The only thing that comes to mind on the same level for me are the early Metal Gear Solid games and OTHER JRPGs in the Square Enix stable... most notably titles like Xenogears, Chrono Trigger/Cross and Vagrant Story. And Game Arts titles like Lunar and Grandia. So yeah, a lot of people got invested in the Final Fantasy franchise initially because of the characters, world-building and story being uniquely high quality compared to just about anything else out there. As opposed to today, where FFXV's story is... well... comparatively lacking. What else would challenge it? Name names.
I said "console" so people can't pull out a "Planescape Torment" or whatever.

You were the one that laugh when Aeris die, yawn when Lagune meet Ellone again, never karaoke Melody of Life, and go to toilet break on opera scene?
What? Are you the type who thinks that if something is not the best, it has to be boring shit? I see...
Its obviously subjective though, so its not as if your claim was any more correct to be fair
