Man this guy was a real trooper.

Nah, trust me he's stronger than lightning... By a large margin.
Lightning is a literal Goddess who is immortal in pretty much any reasonable sense. If Noctis is mortal at any point, he is weaker and that's totally fine.
Noctis killed an immortal "god" if it counts.
He ded though.Noctis killed an immortal "god" if it counts.
To be fair, killing immortal gods is pretty standard fare for JRPGs
e: dam u falk
every jrpg protag and their aunt kills a god
I said it before but if Lightning is a Goddess and JRPG protags kill gods that means Lightning should be at an inherent disadvantage.
It's like how Elephant loses to Mouse in that animal card game.
Have you seen Battle of gods when goku and beerus are practically flying and fighting all across the world? Yup, that's him. Especially when he got all the swords and the ring... he's pretty rediculous.
Nah, trust me he's stronger than lightning... By a large margin.
If what your referring to is Noctis Vs Ardyn's final battle, they just kinda speed through parts of the city and into the air throwing swords at each other occasionally. That's not all that impressive or overpowered compared to the rest of the franchise IMO.
Noctis doesn't even have conventional magic abilities, he has to use the ring, and the elemental magics are limited to the items.
Brilliant.I said it before but if Lightning is a Goddess and JRPG protags kill gods that means Lightning should be at an inherent disadvantage.

But Lightning is a Goddess who kills God(s) though. That has to count for something.
So is that the extent of Ardyn's background and motivations?
There was a demonic plague during his time, his body somehow cured the people that suffered from it, but this caused him to be rejected by the Crystal. Then he caught feelings about it for a few thousand years.
I'm more wondering how no one in the empire questioned that he wasn't aging considering he was involved with them for 30 years. Unless they knew.So is that the extent of Ardyn's background and motivations?

She does more intensive shit in the first twenty minutes of 13-2 than Noctis does in an entire game. HAs a result of an incredibly creepy obsession with his creation Toriyama made her the most powerful character in the franchise's history.Nah, trust me he's stronger than lightning... Luna and Noctis. Both were fated to die.The Omen trailer was a concept I would loved seeing more of. There really wasn't any hints that Noctis was capable of becoming evil. Also who is Regis taking to and who's death was he anticipating. Like it still doesn't make complete sense
i wish they though they didint have to the titanic sceneLuna and Noctis. Both were fated to die.
Man that post-post credits scene is kinda sad and fucked up. Humanity is gone and hey, here is what could have been titanic style. Shits sad yo.

Toriyama was big into letting these games stroke his ego. A creator with no limits will create ultra powerful characters for the sole purpose of bragging rights that "THEIR" characters are the best of ALL! A good creator knows the boundaries they shouldn't cross, and how to keep two feet on the ground while reaching for the stars while not gettin' tangled up in rose bushes while admiring their many qualities. But Lightning is a Goddess who kills God(s) though. That has to count for something.
And I think Square Enix (or maybe it was just Toriyama...) said some bullshit like how Caius was the most powerful FF Villain ever or some shit, and Lightning dogwalks him.
The real question is whether or not this is the darkest ending in the franchise's history, like, regardless of whether they beat Ardyn, the planet's still fucked.
The stream cut off before the last scene so what sunrise are you talking about? You didn't find the sunrise in the post credits scene to be significant?
Consider the World of Ruin setting.
I love titanic, so i freaked out when i saw that ending. they didn't even try to hide their inspirations.
Just like Noctis and Adryn was basically Neo and Smith's final battle from matrix 3, the titanic inspiration is so easily felt

Stronger than Lightning Goddess of FFX-2?
It's the in ruins parts that get me, unless the Daemons disappear when Ardyn gets destroyed?Huh? But my understanding was that the rest of humanity survived, but were in ruins, while insomnia and the kingdom of lucius was destroyed in order to save the rest of the world from falling into darkness because the Oracle was destroyed.
Is that not the case?
honsesty that last scene was not needed it added nothing but an excuse to use the logoDid people miss out the ending? That's what happen when there is no context.
Noctis is dead and so is Luna. He sacrifices himself to bring light back to world. End credit scene is inspired from Titanic showing what could have been, but it doesn't hide that Noctis dies along with Luna.

Now that i have taken some time to take in the ending, I will talk in detail about what it felt to me.
As we have already heard from everyone who played the game, the story is a disjointed mess from start and won't start making sense until closer to the ending. There is a lot of content that feels like it was cut and some important information can be found through the lore scattered in the world. That said, the ending packs a really powerful punch and it did that for me, making it one of the most memorable FF ending. The story takes some massive leap of logic to get to the end but when we are there, we experience it first hand, it becomes clear what the game is all about. It is about the journey of Prince Noctis and his exact opposite persona is Ardyn. Once a notable king who was accused and banished to the darkness. It parallels to Noctis who is the rightful king that is fighting hard to reclaim his throne from him.
As for Luna x Noctis, again it is a huge missed opportunity that their relationship isn't conveyed in a proper way but saying that Luna was just doing everything for Noctis is completely wrong and does disservice to her character. We learn that Luna and Noctis have been childhood friends since growing up and he is engaged and set to marry Luna. It is clear that they both share a very beautiful bond of love between each other and this is seen in glimpses during the cutscenes and the way they communicated with each other was cute, I might add. So while it is established that Luna really holds Noctis dear to his heart despite her brother telling her multiple times that Noctis is not worthy to be a king, she has full faith in him. But this is just one side to Luna and the other side that has an equally important role in her sacrifice is her destiny as the Oracle to the people. To see what this really means to her, it is highly recommended to see the cutscene that is missable in the beginning of the game. It might be short but it shows a side of Luna that is missed during the main narrative and makes much of an impact during her big final speech in Altissia. So it is the culimination of these two points that she sacrifices her life to save Noctis and the people of Altissia, because it is her duty as an Oracle to protect them and also her love for Noctis.
Coming back to Noctis, he has to reclaim his throne but it is pretty evident right from the start that he is not prepared for it. So he freaks out once he learns that his father never told him that he would have to carry such a big task one day. He also has lack of confidence which is very apparent in the beginning few moments when he has to rely on his brotherhood friends. The thing is, as Noctis slowly begins to travel through his journey, he is continuously mentored by his friends like Gladious or Cor and Cid, who tell him clearly that it is his destiny and purpose to bring back the Kingdom of Lucis. By the end of the game, he pretty much has made his mind and decision so when he learn that he has to sacrifice himself to bring order and light back to the world, he accepts his fate and sets out to carry it leading into the ending clash. He knows he will die since it was his fate and the same was the case for Luna. The way it ended was that both fulfilled their role and were granted the chance to be together in the after life, beautifully conveyed by the whole ending scenario. Noctis no longer remains a sissy prince but mans up and reclaims his throne and willfully sacrifice his life to restore order to the world.
At the end of the day, Noctis x Luna both had a tragic ending and both knew it beforehand and accepted it. There was just no way for the game to end in a happy way and I am quite confident in saying this is one of my favorite FF ending.
Sigh, here we go again.
Sharing my post from earlier this thread.
To add to it, after the 'Titanic' ending, there is a absolutely breathtaking scene with godly music that shows the World of Eos in real time as we slowly see the sun rising back up. We learn the World of Ruin is now more and Noctis' sacrifice has worked.
Hmmm, might be memory playing tricks or don't know. That sunrise happens before the titanic bit.
yeah he was rightHmmm, might be memory playing tricks or don't know.
As I mentioned before, I think people "survived", but by the end of the game, all the "kingdoms" have fallen(Tenebrae, Niflheim, Lucis) and there is no more royalty, so the power has reverted to the people, though the given how these sorts of situations lead to conflict, it doesn't seem that hopeful when you got groups of people vying for control of these areas. The more things change, the more they stay the same.Huh? The ending is purposely ambiguous like FFVII's ending (pre-Compilation).

I was kinda expecting the bros to be there at the wedding.. but I guess it's just the afterlife. Their fate at the end is also ambiguous... although all of them died that's what I think. I guess the dlc will focus during the time noctis was hibernating.
