tfw I was walking around and thought, "wow, this music is REALLY nice". Then I realised that my game was bugged and I was listening to the FFXIII music outside the car... (Dust to Dust, if anyone's curious :P)

Some guy told me that there were times in the journey where party members would leave. I thought that would be the gang's DLC.

Like prompto falling off the train, what he was doing during that time ect

Yeah, atlissia is another prime example where the party gets separated. For instance, we never get to see firsthand when ignis suffers that injury.

Quick question, with the crown patch coming out, I read it's suppose to include scenes from Kingsglaive and the Omen trailer into the game. Was there any mention about additional story?

There is an ending scene after the campfire that was cut early in the stream, where they show the world and the sun rises, and every place they show has no life in it except for the dog in one shot. And they dont just show the city but the gas station and shit and nobody is there. And then at the end they go up the stairs in the palace to an empty chair and then noctis appears sitting on the throne looking at the photo you choose, and luna appears next to them with some VO happening. Then the end and start a NG+ type of thing.
Oh i've seen that I don't remember the sunrise part though as I thought that was part of the afterlife sequence. Still, since there's no more royalty, or people in general, (unless they've gone into hiding), the world as it is at the end is pretty fucked.

I really doubt there is any story added.

They just added scenes from Kingsglaive and Omen into the game. ANd according to people who witnessed these, apparently the game was better off without a few of them

The more I think of the story the more I get mad. Like the whole sleeping motif is pretty much nonexistent with the exception of the ending. Even then the ending feels like something that was carried from the Nomura days. I think the CGI scene of Noct waking up from the driver (2011 trailer) would have been the perfect opening, it could have easily been reworked into games actual opening.

Imo the Kingsglaive scenes were added in nicely. I did not see the point of the Omen scene though. That actually made things worse.

:/ . Super. I don't know what happened with this story. Every trailer they came out with had me hyped, but this seems so disjointed. Off screen action, the antagonists not be used ti their full potential....

What was added from the Omen trailer?

The driving scene into the party scene into the invasion and escape from Insomnia.... oh man.

nomura was robbbbed

:/ . Super.

What was added from the Omen trailer?

It was apparently thrown in as a nightmare Noctis had randomly, it wasn't really leading from anywhere, he just wakes up and then that's it.

Can you imagine the weirdness of this? A promotional trailer from before release made and marketed as a concept based on the FF15 story, suddenly gets injected into the game(presumably because of the positive user reception to it)

Like its so weird...why? Cause you wanna show off the cool CGI you could not afford to make to put into the actual game? Cause you wanna make it seem like the game is deeper than it is?

So... this is a thing now. Evil old Niflheim guy is Prompto's dad?

Yea it would have been better but even then the driving scene could have easily fit into the current game. It accomplishes several things. Introduce the type of character Noctis is, show the sleeping motif that eventually foreshadows the ending, and get a good look at Insomnia. I don't like saying "oh Nomura's vision was better" but when Tabata couldn't even get a clear vision of his own then it kinda makes me want to say it.

I can't say much since I haven't played it yet but it seems like Nomura's vision but butchered would've been better than Tabata's re-imagining of Nomura's concepts.

Well i keep posing the scenario that tabata was maybe rushed..i mean there's no real excuse for him to basically just cut out a whole bunch of people's stories, simplify the story to this degree and generally take out the entire enemy kingdom motif halfway through the game and not have circumstances stack against the development team...

I mean you have tons of characters who seem to just exist in limbo and not really do anything of actual importance despite being around as if they were just cut from existence so not conflict with a very messy editing process

Holy shit this just screams incompetence on a higher level. You can tell communication was scrambled all over the place. Why are they using that render for Gladio's dad? One he looks nothing like that in KG and two he doesn't even come out in the game. Does Versatel even come out at all after that one cutscenes that shows all bad guys (happens to also be the only cutscenes Ideola comes out in). Where in the fuck is it ever implied that Prompto was his son. Brotherhood contradicts it somewhat.

Actually fat kid Prompto sort of looks like him, same shape same freckles

That design for Gladio's dad looks just like that guy from the 2013 trailer standing near Regis.

Was just about to say. Is the name still the same? (Can't tell)...

Not to knock on the Kingsglaive version of the character, but why didn't they keep his '13 render?

Right, they redesigned him for the movie.

Which still confuses me to this day. Why redesign half the characters. Even Luna, the most recognizable doesn't look anything like she does in the game. She looks like she's about to die of a serious illness in Kingsglaive at all times

Kingsglaive characters are motion-captured by real actors (faces included), while Noctis's uncle Gladio's father from the game's 2013 trailer probably wasn't.

Wrong. KG Luna looks fantastic.

I know that, i'm saying, WHY motion capture, instead of doing what they usually do? Is it cause Digic pictures was involved?

Wrong. KG Luna looks fantastic.

She looks SCARY

Huh.

I'm only on Chapter 3, but is the parentage even hinted in the game?

I've been keeping up with the spoilers, but haven't heard anything about this. =/
Nope not at all. That old dude only has 1 line and doesn't affect the story at all. It's possible he shows up in one of the optional Niflheim base invasions but in the main story he doesn't come out and it's for sure not hinted he's related to Prompto. Hell no one ever though Prompto would be from Niflheim, people thought at most it would be Ignis cause of his accent.

Actually people have been saying Prompto is a foreigner and a fugitive from another country for years.

Some people thought it was BS but this strategy guide seems to confirm it.

When they first showed Omen I assumed it was a scene from the game, and I was bummed when it turned out to be promotion. So I'm happy!

I agree that putting a trailer like that in the middle of the game in a patch is a first... but if it were in the attract mode or added as the intro to the game, I wouldn't have batted an eye. Plenty of games have outsourced CGI introductions.

There were trying to hardcore appeal to the West with it, is why.

Good riddance to that idea! Yuck, what a pasty result.

Sure but they dontmake it so obvious that the development is such a cluster fluck that they retroactively put it into the game via patch yanno?

Higher quality performance capture data, and a much more human thus more relatable looking cast. And I will never understand the criticism that she looks sick or diseased when in reality she just looks tired. Seriously, you need to look at more sick people as Luna looks like a perfectly healthy albeit tired person in kingsglaive. Human beings have subtle flaws, and these things called wrinkles when the mouth moves and that's something a lot of Japanese designs avoid entirely. The more realistically a character is rendered the creepier it is when they're missing subtle things like proper wrinkles.
tumblr_o7ji58B05n1r6rm55o1_1280.jpg

and since Kingsglaive was going for total realism and is almost solely mocapped with the director saying in this video solely that he wants those nuanced performances you need models can support those subtle nuances otherwise the uncanny valley effect is way too strong, a notable example being Ardyn Izunia whenever he opens his mouth since he's the most stylized looking character and was mocapped by Jon Campling, who looks nothing like him which isn't that much of an issue but they didn't pay anywhere near enough attention to retargeting that facial animation correctly. Square and Visual Works have been looking into incorporating performance capture for years since both Agni's Philosophy and Type 0 next incorporate it. But thanks to the style it looks a bit creepy.

Yeah, I remember a few people theorizing Prompto was from Niflheim. The idea has a lot of potential, I just wish they'd done something with it in XV's main story path. If it's a side quest in the game, I feel like it's a big enough character plot point that it shouldn't really be a side quest.

Would be hilarious if it used a render of og regis.

Also I guess this confirms Aranea isn't Bahamut.

Hey, you're right! Thank god, Gentiana is enough on the 'summon taking a human form' front for me.
