Final Fantasy XV SPOILER THREAD

I found it interesting how Clarus - Gladio's father - uses the old long haired mugshot, basically confirming that "long haired guy" from Versus is indeed him. Ravus also seems to use a slightly different mugshot. Perhaps a leftover from his role as The Hooded Man in Versus? This is the only time we'd see his face pre-redesign if so.

It's also interesting that they opted to keep Luna's mother as a silhouette instead of using her appearance from Kingsglaive. It could be due to wanting to keep them separate, but it could just be based on outdated materials if the name they gave for Gladiolus' father is an indication.

Jared died protecting a young boy and girl. Jared died for the sake of his majesty. Jared died a hero, always thinking of others, always working towards a better future.

RIP Jared.

Jared died for cup noodles

Final fantasy |ot2| the cup noodles was worth it.

Pryna DLC incoming.

All things considered, that chart was probably done before Kingsglaive was a thing, which explains the absence of a portrait for Sylva, Gladio's father still using the old design and his name ("Crailas" actually sounds like it could be a bad transliteration of Japanese クレイラス) etc.

Picture of Ardyn is still the highest form of comedy.

"Hey here's the guy who stabbed you and stuff"

I picked a picture of Iris receiving flowers from Noctis. I liked how smug Noctis looked in the ending as well.

Also I bought a lot of cup noodles prior to the ending, so in the final camp scene, the bros' final meal was some cup noodles.

Ardyn was tuned to be a solo fight, while Ravus wasn't... While still technically being a solo fight because good luck keeping the bros alive for all of it.

The only way for FFXIV was going up since it was already scrapping the bottom.
Lmao, what a load of cockamamie bullshit.
He does deserve credit, yes. However the quote by him that is used in this thread is not accurate when he didn't act on it in the fist place :P

BTW, FFXIV should have been just killed for all I care. If SE didn't waste so many resources on this failure of an MMO, we could have had FFVXIII and a new mainline FFXVI.
If SE didn't have the money flow of that MMO, you wouldn't have gotten XV or XVI this decade either.
Could you imagine the rage online if the game was delayed to next year.
It's literally what I wanted, so I would have been dancing in the streets.
How would you guys describe the Ravus boss fight in one word?
Snoozer.

Contrary to people who thought it was too hard or long, I thought it was too easy to cheese.

Yeah, I had to fight Ravus alone for the last 1/3 of the battle. He wiped my party out in one hit several times. After a while I thought, I'm better off alone, sorry bros. ;__;

Ravus was the most challenging main story boss fight in the entire game to me.

I think their argument was that if they quickly abandoned the egregiously unfinished and almost unplayable version of XIV then they might not even get the chance to make XVI. It also makes sense to make the effort to turn it into a long term money maker like they had with XI.

Updating an MMO makes more sense to me than some of these announced additions to XV. Maybe this is a good way for them to keep staff busy making content and helping XV sell over time while planning and pre-production begins on the next big entry?

Best part is, in japanese he doesn't even say anything remotely resembling that.

btw. a question to people that fought adamantoise, did you get that BRO LINK dope af animation during the fight?

Unfortunately I hit the wrong button after 'share' and had to settle for a photo after the fight.

is there any video upload of this? I need to see it.

Edit: OK found it.

It's cool in concept, but god it needs tons of polish. wtf.

Just finished the game. That ending...was not really that great. The game for me fell really short story wise. The whole Nifelheim Empire antagonist weren't even a big part of the game. We only see those two old dudes once in a cutscene if I remember correctly. They were getting played by Ardyn and the lack of fleshing that out is just disappointing. Even Ravus was underutilized. Everything just felt so rushed when it came to the story despite having a really good start in the first couple of hours. Which is a shame because the world is pretty cool despite there being little to do in it besides hunts and fetch quests.

So we didn't get anything else about Verstael, the Magitek engineer/researcher and Prompto's alleged dad did we? Besides that one cinematic where everyone was gathered in front of the emperor.

Now that I think about it (again) ch. 13 was very strange. It was the crux of the thinly outlined narrative for me, personally -- I actually didn't mind the gameplay so much when put in context with the rest of the game. The storytelling, though, was just getting brutally eschewed.

It's just that it's both your first and last real look at the empire's shtick, and yet nothing is quite clearly explained, and the emperor comes at you as a friken daemon which you take out in a couple minutes and don't really bring up again, along with Ravus, and a daemon conspiracy is brought up through a handful of notes and left there, lol, and everything is happening so fast while feeling like such a slog in the same time somehow.

I don't and won't get to know what the full original vision for the empire and its affiliated villains were but it sucks it had to come to this. >_<

This was my biggest issue with the game, even more so than Luna (all though she is a major disappointment and head-scratcher, too).

And again, seeing Ardyn and the Emperor and his cronies together on-screen, exploring that dynamic, would have made his character all the better. It would have given a lot more punch to the ending if actually saw him eroding the empire from within.

Also, Me everytime Luna was on-screen:

Just finished the game clocked at 20 hours level39, despite everything wrong with the story and Luna I have to say that i enjoyed the dynamics between Noctis and the rest of the guys, that last camp really made me shed some man tears.

Need some time to process everything, but it wasn't bad at all.

Ravus was easy. I just whaled on his back and then did a tech to eat up the time during his animation for the one AOE attack he'd use.

Early in the fight was difficult because that samurai move he kept doing would one shot everybody but gladio, but he stopped doing that and it made the fight manageable.

Beat the game. Regis and Luna needed way more game time. Should have kept Regis around for a bit because his involvement was low but the promotion hinted a key father son relation. It's a alright game but a lot of the characters felt underdeveloped and plot was poorly told.

I still think Luna was a good character, even though she had very little exposition.

I think it says a lot about the few scenes she was in.

Really hope the story updates help flesh her out even more.

Its really sad that SE fucked up the story so bad. some scenes in the game could have been truly great, instead we are left with some half assed crap.

Top of my head.
Why didnt the main villain get more screen time? he is great!
why did they just fastforward the scenes when Noct got sucked into the crystal then they jumped 10 years without any context and you as a player just get lost. Noct meet his friends again within a few minutes of gameplay. This could have been streched out more.

I feel the story should have been twice as long than it was for us players to understand and get some love for these characters. Its just way to fast paced without no context and at times it feels like they forgot to add scenes.

So in the thread about ps4 sales ethomaz posted a link to the FFXV prologue novella:
http://cdn.sqexeu.com/files/ff15/main_site/public/novella/FFXV_Novel_ENG.pdf

Now this seems to be a Square Enix thing because Deus Ex: Mankind divided also had a prologue short novel.

Interestingly it looks more like a script. That would have obviously been cutscenes in the game if they had time.

It mentions they drive the Audi R8 <-- Really surprised the custom Audi didn't show up in the game.

Short intro with Iris as well. Standard anime childhood friend stuff.

It has the group receiving their Crownsguard outfits.

Interestingly Prompto mentions showing those outfits to his parents.

There's a bit of a tie into Kingsglaive as well which would have worked since the start of the game is somewhat before and during the events of kingsglaive.

I agree. I finished the game feeling emotionally attached to her and her relationship with Noctis...whereas I felt the relationship between the main 4 guys fell flat.

I feel like people who don't know who Jared is at all are the same people that couldn't comprehend FFXIII introducing three words into their vocabulary (l'cie, ci'eth, fal'cie).
...never got why people were confused with these words or what they meant...it was all very self explanatory and explained to you clearly in the game very early on.

Not knowing who Jared is is your own fault for not paying attention the cut scene when you get to Leville in Lestallum.

I get how the game trying to make his death is a big deal when he lacked any depth is baaad etc etc...but not knowing of his existence? lolzzzz The game does a far worse job on leaving plot points out later on...
