Final Fantasy XV SPOILER THREAD

Wished we would get more AAA RPGs from Japan. :( Just imagibe we had even more absolute stunners like this.

You can do that?

Also beat Pitioss Ruins last night in about 3-ish hours. While one of the coolest dungeons as a whole, I had to steel my rage from warp cock punching the designers in their attempt make the game into a precision platformer all of a sudden. Puzzles were great, the platforming not so much. My soul burned at the end with those warped beams and just sliding off of them due to incidental walking animations...

Did make me wish more of the dungeons prior to it had some semblance of that kind of gameplay, but nowhere near as much. Oh yeah, and beat the game as well. Enjoyed it as a whole and am definitely wanting more from the world, especially more lore from the World of Ruin. Need an Iris the Demon Slayer DLC! Gotta upload the vid where Noct shows the pic to Luna as well. So ridiculous considering the one I used, haha.

I'm upset we didn't get to fight Ravus before he was zombified. A clash between him and Noctis should be great, since both cared about Luna in a different way. Instead he's just this cranky older brother who flips without any involvement of players whatsoever and died offscreen, as with many characters in the game.

So just finished the game, have a few question about ardyn. So he was the the original Chosen one? And his real name is Ardyn Lucis Caelum, and the other king was not Lucis Caelum, so did the other king steal his last name, and this other king was an ancestor of Noctis?

Finally came back to the game and still finding sword of the tall dungeon as annoying as ever. Fighting the naga and red giants seems so clunky and just all round mess. Disappointed we haven't got world of ruin faces as a option from patches. Prompto is the only one who looks worse with the time jump.

You can, it was a DLC pre-order bonus from some place or another. It'll be up for everyone eventually.

The Royal Raiment isn't the all black suit. The all black suit under the Kingly Raiment (the end game costume) is based on the black suit from the Versus XIII party scene (except rather than just a normal suit jacket it's cut as an angle on the back).

The Royal Raiment (which is part of the Deluxe and Ultimate Collectors Editions) is the grey pinstripe suit that Regis wears (or wore, in older trailer footage).

The Black Suit is in the game as it's own thing because at the end of the game Noctis is in it (after the Kingly stuff has fallen off the suit due to the battle with Ardyn) and shows up when you rest or camp while wearing it. It's just not usable as a costume (yet, hopefully).

I want an Ardyn DLC story way more than I want one for Luna or the guys.
I think him and Ravus need it most. Too much potential.

I'm sure they'll charge for the bros' DLC, but I really do think that shit should have been in the game. The DLC bait was way too obvious, and it shouldn't have happened off-screen anyway.

I liked Noct from the get go but everything about his World of Ruin design elevated him to amazing status. Wish you could use his older model in post game (And also the Kingly suit without the cape).

Yea, kind of a bummer we couldn't use the older bros post-game. Older Noct looks cooler.

Yup.

Ardyn was to save the world from the daemon plague and as he healed people he selflessly absorbed the disease. Then because his body was tainted he was denied ascenscion and instead the imposter was chosen as the new Lucis king. The king then demonised Ardyn in the eyes of the people thus making Ardyn lust for revenge not only to the gods, crystal but the new Lucis line too.

I've played the game for 60 hours, completed the story and the only non-story summon I've seen is Ramuh, about ~30 times.

Now that I learned that there's actually ways to get Carbuncle, Shiva, Titan and Leviathan to appear during regular gameplay fights, I'm a bit non-plussed how bad the chances are to actually see them - given how amazing they are (well, not Carbuncle's :lol ) and how much time and effort must've gone into these sequences, I would've thought they would feature them a bit more.

I really liked the ending with Noctis and the bro's and Noctis and Luna afterwards. It was a refreshing surprise after that depressing "everyone dies" end.
Now you're dead in limbo. I hope you stay in love that you never developed in your real lives cause that would suck.

I would also like to add that in the german translation, the jealous king also let Ardyn executed/killed (although I don't know if it's a mistranslation of the german translation team) in addition. Therefore, the hatred and revenge of Ardyn is more understandable.

But was the imposter/jealous king really not a Lucis Caelum, or was he just another relative of Ardyn&Noctis?

It's specially funny because Ramuh is like the least exciting summon to get.

All the others have either big fights or at least big story moments attached to them

Ramuh is like a mandatory sidequest you do while you wait for your car to be ready..... And is the one that most often helps you.

Btw, just realized you guessed Biggs and Wedge right last month :D

Haha did I? :P
I mean they indeed turn into conductors (lol) but iirk we never see them in these attires.
Also one of these conductors on the pic looks chubbier then Biggs&Wedge.
But I was close :P

The Royal Raiment without the jacket also has skulls and crossbones on the vest as a throwback to Versus XIII.

I love that Noct has skull and crossbones over his clothes. It's like, yeah, of course he would. He looks like an angsty emo boy so of course he'd have clothes with little skull and crossbones.

Ardyn implies that the Izunia name was the one of the imposter king who became Lucis Caelum.

All worth it, man. It feels good to see Japan on this level, finally. Haven't seen enemies animate quite like they do in this game before.

Is Leviathan the most visually spectacular thing in the FF series so far? I know lots of people hated it but I thought at the very least it was visually amazing.

Probably.

And that's serious for me to say that, because for a long time i'd say the Esper Deathblows from FFXII have been the height of this series' visuals.

What royal arms did Noctis used for his final blow against Ardyn? He even commented about it.

All of them, finishing with Sword of the Father.

If you look harder, you'll notice Ardyn counters all of Noctis' omnislash with his own version of each weapon, until the last blow where Ardyn doesn't have a version of his own to block with and proceeds to get stabbed through the chest

edit: Can't english gud.

Ah, so that's why he commented about it. I didn't realize it was the sword of the father.

having finished chapter 13 I dont feel like it was as bad as I was lead to believe...

It's not, it's just different and not particularly good, and it also drags on a little too long, so it's 'the worst'.

The worst chapter, to me, was dragging Three Blind Mice into a Malboro pit where the game autocompletes the boss for you and then you get back on the train. What a fucking stupid chapter from a game design perspective. I did like being confronted with just how crippled Ignis was, but everything surrounding that was just pure garbage.

Thinking about Pitioss... it really is brilliant. It's too bad the controls weren't made for platforming because I would have loved it otherwise.

Good for you. For me, it was easily the worst section of any game I've played this year.
Yeah I agree. The gameplay was not enjoyable at all to me. The ring was not a fun mechanic and the attempts at stealth were worse. Thankfully it was just those couple of hours, I couldn't have handled much more of it. To each their own though.

13 was just boring. We went from fun fast combat to running in hallways using that crappy ring. If the ring was more fun to play around with, I would've enjoyed it more.

I still haven't completed the game, I've been so busy with work and other real life things it's fallen off to the side which sucks.

I'm on chapter 12... how do I us Umbra to go back and do world quests, etc? Also when you finally beat the game does it let you just load a save up right back into the world or how does that work? At this point I want to push through and beat it and then do all the side stuff I haven't done yet later. I've done a ton, but at this point I just want to finish it first lol

The part in which Leviathan starts diving into the water but you don't see waves forming or the water reacting in any way looks terrible.

Actually, the Leviathan fight for me was kind of terrible and really bothered me that while I was doing it I just thought that the team should have looked at Bayonetta 1 and 2 and take some clues from there tbh

Oh well, tomorrow will have to give back the PS4 I borrowed to play this game and will stop right here and wait to get the game until is fully patched.

So I guess Ardyn is a good guy playing the bad guy because he knows he has to do so in order to rid the world of darkness/himself? He helped Noct & gang because they needed his help to actually kill him, needed the motivation, etc? The alternative being, he's just psycho because light eating asteroid midicholrians?

Any Inn or rest place that's not a campsite will let you call Umbra.

When you beat the game you will have the opportunity to save your clear data and if you load it up you'll return to the last place you've saved before clearing the game.

I was lead to believe that Chapter 13 would be some broken mess from a gameplay perspective... but it isn't. It's actually quite accomplished in what it sets out to do. It's just that it's a change of pace from the main game and what people signed up for, and many people aren't gonna like that. It's this game's "water level".

The survival horror section freaked me out and was one of the more memorable sections of the game to me. Sure it's stressful and unforgiving.... like survival horror should be. Gave me REmake or SH feels.

The early "only use magic ring on enemies" part is a little weak, but it's a small fraction of Chap 13.

I'm not sure if being overleveled (99) hindered or helped my 13 experience. I certainly didn't feel the tension of survival horror but I also wasn't frustrated by losing my weapons.
