Final Fantasy XV: World of Wonder video (ft. Florence + The Machine)

CONS:

Terrible compression, looks like 480p at 1080p.
fog_effects: +100000 in most of the shots
Water effects rivaled by Morrowind
Stretched, gross textures for terrain

YIKES, guys.

PROS:

At least they weren't using the PC build as marketing material again.

Who cares. I just want to play a new Final Fantasy game since 10 years ago.

Yeah so beautiful.

Maybe some of this is due to the horrible quality of the video, but not all of it.
Thanks for this. I knew it wasn't just me.

Because she is an amazing artist working on mediocre stuff for this game so I hope they are at least paying her a lot of money for making bad songs and a cover? Too much is never enough is low effort with that horrible Luna part shoehorned in and well I will be on it's own is without a scene accompanying it is pretty lackluster.

Every single original song she made is leagues above anything in any FF.

Basically I'm buttblasted.

This game coming to PC? Environments look a bit rough but love the creatures.

Yeah I have to admit, unless I wasn't paying attention, it looks worse than the last time I saw this game. Textures and detail look really low.

This creature in the new trailer looks similar to that red wyvern prompto was shooting down in one of the old versus trailers on the open field :0 (sorry everything is crap quality)

Ignis va is actually British and every single one of us called it a fake accent XD lol

I actually remember seeing a whole bunch of people hating on Ignis and one of the reasons was because, according to them, his accent was so obviously fake.

Then I remember thinking something along the lines of "I am absolutely going to crack up if it turns out this guy was British all along!" :P

So, is this all confirmed? And is the guy doing the voice of Ignis in the final game the same one from Episode Duscae?

So you're worried how much she's being paid... I guess she knows well what she's doing. This is a weird post.

Check again, anything that's removed are actually in the reflections.

I know about the reflections, but there's also at least one of the stalagmites popping out in that scene at the very left side of the screen, it's a bit hard to see though.

The intern who took the screens is rendering official videos for PR now.

Yeah, sometimes it feels like the person taking screenshots and recording videos at SE Japan is doing this for the first time in his life.

The variety of creatures looks really good and the song sounded great, but all the flyovers just emphasize how bad the game suffers from Japanese flat world syndrome

Since I don't care about graphics, I was more impressed by the creature behavior and the details put in to make the world feel alive and something that could exist without the player.

I'm in the same boat. I've never cared too much about graphics. Good graphics are nice and all, but to me that's just a bonus. As long as I can get into the story and the characters are interesting to me, I'm good.

Hell, the reason games like FF6 or Legend of the Dragoon keep me coming back to them after all these years certainly isn't because of the graphics :P

You mean like it has been in Final Fantasy 8, 9, 10, 10-2, 12, and 13?

There weren't recognised commercial singers, that was kind of what I was getting at, except for Leona Lewis and I remember plenty of people moaning about that. The pond scene was the worst part of X as well

Probably just a personal complaint though if a lot of people like Florence and the machine (I can't stand her voice)

No idea, but I wouldn't be surprised if duscae was a rushed job. I mean we haven't had a full English voiced trailer since dec 2015. Gamescom better have a eng one.

can we actually observe the creatures act like that during the game? at several point of the trailer you see 10+ creatures in a pack/herd. can the game really handle that many number of creatures at once? also can you really pick a fight with all of them at once?

the platinum demo really make me a bit skeptic with the framerates and this trailer seems even more taxing to the console.

For what is worth, the latest demo with the Titan boss fight (something huuuuuge and taxing i guess) ran at a pretty solid 30fps.

And yes, we saw some packs of creatures in the Chocobo+Fishing gameplay video from last year.

I am super pumped for XV and love Stand by Me (before it was even announced as the theme), but I am definitely going to wait for the Neo patch to come in. I waited 10 years so waiting for a Neo patch is no big deal to me. I want to play this in a way where I have no regrets.

If Episode Duscae is anything to go by then the full game should be able to handle it. You were able to run up to herds of animals (don't remember the name of them) in that demo.

We're judging texture quality using a compressed YouTube video? Okay, anyways I'll reserve judgment until I see direct feed but it looks like it will be very nice. What's with all of the not so subtle if it's not pc it sucks posts?

Yep. I think the monster design is top notch, music was decent if tad bland, but the world map just looked very uninspired, uninteresting and flat. Let's hope at least the dungeons and points of interest have better level design.

You can but you have to be careful not getting to close, you could see the King Garula relaxing in duscae with the smaller ones.

This is the most terribeist of terrible opinions in this thread, and there have been a lot of negative posts just to be negative and edgy.

There's nothing edgy about expressing distaste for a musician who specialises in vocal gymnastics that trade in any hint of nuance or timbre for the kind of overwrought foghorn warbling that bludgeons the listener into submission while failing to do a whole lot else. I mean, if you were in the UK back when her debut came out, you'd probably hate her music too, given how inescapable it was. I understand she reigned in the bombastic arrnagements a fair bit with the last album, but she's nowhere near as ubiquitous these days as she was back in 2009, and since I'm not forced to listen to her anymore it's a bit hard to care. Oh, and thrown in an absolutely massacred cover version of You Got the Love and that's just more cause for ire.

Still better than Leona Lewis though.

Relax guys, not everybody is going to like the same bands and artists as you do. Music as a medium is far more subjective than video games and thus that places it under scrutiny for reasons you won't agree with but can't do much to contend - it's just personal taste. Apart from the likes of Justin Bieber, Nickelback, 99.9% of all K-pop and a slew of Youtube wannabe starlets, it's pretty rare that you can point to a particular song or artist and call them objectively awful.

On the subject of the game's footage - it looks pretty rough. I really have no idea how this game is going to turn out. I want it to be a return to the glory days of Final Fantasy but... ehhh.

I've seen this complaint leveled at XV a few times and I'm not getting it.

Stuff like you see in the background here looks like very natural topography, and I can't think of a Western game off the top of my head that's more realistic.

Sure, Duscae had a big field, which, like big fields in real life, was fairly flat. But it also had plenty of hills and rock formations, passable and not. And stuff they've shown like Tenebrae (city built into the steep cliffs and stone pillars) isn't remotely flat.

Yep. I think the monster design is top notch, music was decent if tad bland, but the world map just looked very uninspired, uninteresting and flat. Let's hope at least the dungeons and points of interest have better level design.

The cave in Duscae has probably the best level geometry of any cave I've ever delved in a game.

Whoever rendered and uploaded the video butchered its quality.

Looks so blurry :(!!!

But from what I've seen minus the blurriness - I'm loving it and cant wait to play the game :D

...You have to be a joke poster right? Faye Wong is pretty much the most commercially successful Chinese singer ever and that's just from the first FF in that list.

Haha, I guess he didn't know about Faye Wong.

I mean, I didn't either, but I tend to not keep up with these things. I didn't even know who Leona Lewis was, until I saw a lot of people complaining she was doing a song for FF13 :P

That's probably why I don't mind Flo doing some songs for FFXV. Had never heard of her until that Uncovered event, but I like the songs she's doing for this game so far.

I love what they are doing with the joints on the monsters, and areas with thick flesh having a bit of physics so the muscles tense and wiggle a bit as they move..really giving life to the enemies and they dont usually get this level of attention.. its great.

I can't wait until the game releases, some time passes, and someone painstakingly goes through and matches all the throw-back creatures with their 16bit (or 8bit) counterparts. Should be neat to see. Graphic designers for XV are doing a wonderful job bringing them to life.

Yeah, pretty sure it's the same one. About time they finally showed more monsters.

giphy.gif

This realistic open map with monsters is getting way too absurd lol. They all look like regular animals not monsters. Noctis and co. will be like slaughtering natural habitat.
