Final Fantasy XV's multiplayer actually does let you play as a female character

awesome

btw, this is to be expected since in the single player mode at least there are 2 female characters who can fight alongside with you albeit at brief moments

can't wait to try it

Wait, I'm a little out of the loop here and I'm just staring at this thread title and pondering on the reason for this thread's existence. Was this ever in doubt? Was that poll in the other thread serious? Because I just naturally presumed you would be able to create a female avatar, and I didn't see any reason why I should doubt that. Can you imagine the shitshow that would ensue if they for whatever reason restricted you to males? Even Square Enix would duly recognise the terrible optics of that...

Man, I'm really looking forward to getting back to this game someday. Kinda feel like I made a mistake playing on Day One haha

I can assure you ppl were dead serious. It's ffxv on gaf

There's a fine line being negative but addressing critical issues in a concise matter and being negative that eventually screws up your mind.

I'm pretty sure the people thinking that any company on earth would be idiotic enough to release an online multiplayer mode where you can only create male characters were just taking the piss because the thread was about FFXV.

You underestimate the level of irrational stupid that XV threads around here exhibit.

Again, the fact that the poll existed and got that bad in the first place is just fucking stupid, because the OP included screenshots WITH female characters in them.

So, i'm assuming this thread exists just for the few people who may step into an XV thread wanting information, and may not be completely aware of just how deep the hatred goes.

The other OP has pictures feauturing woman since its beginning, aka, the day it was created. So yeah, that poll was kinda pointless.

screenshot dump. They've also improved the hair shaders and skin shaders.

Are combat changes(improvements?) just in the multi-player portion? I've read the base game combat is kind of lackluster

The base game's combat lives and dies on whether you are willing to experiment with the game's combo sets and special actions.
Example: https://youtu.be/ctEo6r61kuE

Unfortunately most people don't even know these combos and special actions even exist, and because of how items and magics work in the game, they just hold attack or hold defend and use items when needed. Hence the stigma of "lackluster combat".

Basically, for the vast majority of the game for the vast majority of players, little actual skill is needed, and so people just use attrition leading to people getting bored and thinking the game is stale.

That said, it seems like these combat improvements are pretty nice, though most of that delves into what has been omitted rather than what has been added :)

Wait did they just update the beta or was it an observation that we all missed? Cause it'd be so cool if they did!

No update, it was just hard to tell in youtube streams. I just d/l the beta and noticed. They've definitely refined other stuff in addition to updating the hair rendering and physics.

The more shocking part of it all is those women character/avatars have clothes on. Didn't think Square had it in them to be that courageous

I take it you've never seen Final Fantasy XIV then

The vast majority of outfits in that game are full garments, the few that are generous are equally as generous for males

There really is nothing shocking about any of this. People are just being obtuse for some reason lol

Is it over? I keep getting error when trying to join a party and kicked to title screen?

I've tried to start quick play from Cor three times now, I've gotten an error each time and was sent back to the title screen, forced to go through all that loading again...

I've not managed to play the beta once. Error-1 every time. (Xbox version)

When's the last time you actually played an FF?

Even in FFXV, the majority of women are clothed. Cindy is the worst offender, Aranea is pushing it (Yet is armored) but Luna, Gentiana, and Iris are properly clothed, as are almost all the NPCs. I get that you were trying for a hot take, but there are so many other BRAVE COMMENTS you could have made.

Well I'll be. Honestly didn't think they'd do it after insisting on keeping FFXV a brofest with no female playable characters. Good on them, I say.

One of the main games core themes is brotherhood. So it made sense in that case.

But yes, it's nice to play female characters in this world. Feels good.

*Looking back at Lightning Returns*

didn't the female power plant workers in lestallum have protective clothing with a crotch window showing off their short shorts

Those Lightning Returns outfits are abominable and honestly put me off from wanting to check the game out, particularly when each costume is practically its own mini-job or something or the like. Barely any of those costumes fit her, most are garish vomits of shapes and colour, and Lightning herself looks like she is in desperate need for some sandwiches, because good grief. You can probably snap her like a twig.

I'm genuinely looking forward to seeing what the final character creator will look like. I'm not expecting anything near Black Desert, but it's easily giving FFXIV a run for its money. At this point in FFXIV I swear everyone just has the same few faces and hair, particularly when the Miqo'te and Au Ra players are so plentiful.

Yup, some were wearing this unfortunate getup.

Granted, I did say almost all. Not everyone was spared from poor design. Holly is mostly bundled up in her thermal suit in comparison, but shows cleavage. I imagine the excuse for the designs is "it's hot AF there".

HAHAHAHAHAHA that was suppose to be factory clothing!?
