HM should not disappear if Doom gets hit. It would turn the assist to a combo extender almost exclusively.

Doom stays on the screen longer then probably any assist. If you watch the average match with Doom Missiles being used, that assist gets interrupted alot, if the missiles disappeared you would barely see em in any match.

the best "nerf" i can think of for HM is either dial back the tracking a bit or cut the number of missiles down(maybe down to four)
 
Doom gets interrupted/hit a lot because people are maximum herp derping with the assist and know they can trade hits because it means that they are attacking Doom and will get hit by the missiles when they come down. Everyone knows how to exploit this to the fucking maximum, they bait unsafe moves so that you get hit by missiles or they bait a Doom call that is free as fuck to punish only you get hit by the missiles. It's why punishing Doom with hypers is a bad strategy most of the time because you will get hit by a single missile and the point character can take advantage. Currently speaking you basically get near the full effect of the assist if Doom gets interrupted late into the assist call. There is NO assist in the game which has this property... ie there is no assist in the game which comes out to full effect if it's interrupted.

If they nerf missiles and it turns out to be the worst assist in the game (which will never happen), Doom still has Plasma Beam and Rocks to fall back on. The game would be 10x better off without. It's the invincible AA assist of zoning.

Oh no Doom would have only 2 really good assists then
 
ya it's like people act as if he'd be utter shit all of sudden without hidden missiles being godlike.

I really hope it gets fixed, it can still be a great assist, but right now it's too stupid, it lets people play hella reckless and get away with shit they otherwise couldn't. I bet we'd see some more variety in team compositions too.
 
I get what people are saying. HM is a unique assist and does a lot of interesting things. It helps a lot of zoners establish dominance and control in the game, especially the lower tier characters. It should still exist in the game but not in its current form. Likewise there should be more AA assists to choose from, not 4 usable ones. The assist single handedly makes too many playstyles and characters non viable in the meta. Not even Vergil has this much impact on the meta, even Iron Fist can own him but IF can't do anything about top zoner and missiles.
