How do I fix this? Is there even a way to fix it?

I just installed it, and I've been an avid FF user but I ditched it for chrome when 3.6 was getting way too slow. I have to say that I like it so far. The pages load a lot faster, even faster than chrome. Gifs load a lot smoother too. My only concern is that Chrome used 17% of my RAM and FF4 uses 32%. I have 4gigs on my laptop btw.

it could be a problem with the theme.

does it do it when you're just using the normal one?

How is that a concern? RAM is meant to be used, and with 4GB it's definitely enough unless you do a lot of photo/video editing; but then again you should probably not use that laptop for those things.

Btw, I just downloaded an extension and I didn't need to restart the browser. I had to do this with every beta or RC. Is it just a coincidence because the extension is really small, or did reboots become unnecessary in the final release?

Fantastic, pentadactyl seems to work fine with firefox 4. Does anyone have an opinion of the new sync option? Replacement for xmarks?

Is there a way to put the home and refresh button in their classic positions?

Firefox button > Options (click the little arrow to the right) > Toolbar layout

now just drag the buttons to where you want them

Thanks guys, although I kind of see why they had it like that now, looks nicer.

Only glitch I can see is that I keep disabling the add-on bar but it keeps resurrecting itself, probably has something to do with an add-on like site advisor since it happens when I go to a new site or part of a site.

Honestly the main reason I stopped using Firefox was because there was no homepage like Chrome with the thumbnails of my fave pages. There was a plugin that had a terribly knockoff of it though.

Ram should not be a issue, all browser use massive ram, heck my chrome was just using 2gb, good thing I have 8gb so I really dont care.

Big Firefox fan here. Unfortunately, it crashed even before I could finish writing down the incompatible add-ons, and any further attempts to run it just bring up the Crash Reporter. Oh well. It's reported, back on 3 for now.

I keep hearing concern about memory footprint.

How little RAM do you guys have that web surfing is a problem?
I have 8GB. and the concern isn't about how much RAM Firefox uses in a vacuum. It's about how much it uses relative to other demanding applications that may need a lot of ram.

if you have a lot of tabs open in FF, my 8GB can become "6GB free" in a damn heartbeat. 6GB is not all that much if I'm in Photoshop or Maya, especially after you remove the memory needed for the OS ans whatever else is open.

fortunately, Opera uses around 70% less RAM, I've found.

How can nobody have mentioned Tab Groups yet?
Ctrl + Shift + E, people.

I will say this: I love tab groups, and they are the reason I'm not using Chrome right now.

That makes it useful. It's going to take some time getting used to it, but it's a bit better, IMO.
Is the app button that plus sign? Is that what you want to get rid of? Because if so you just have to disable the conduit engine thing in the add-ons.

Transitions are so jarring.

I'm used to cycling tabs using Ctrl Tab and Ctrl Shift Tab.

Will this be my return to FF? I ditched it when it was being slow as fuck and startup was laggy like a mofo. Chrome has been my new love but I'm about to try out this.

I really really wanted to like Chrome, and used it for about 2 months when I had issue running the latest 3.6 build on my 64 bits Linux box, but I missed the awesome bar so much that I switch to the beta 4.0 builds monthsa go. Solid browser, and fast too. Nothing to complain about, especially since the Linux build doesn't use the new UI I'm not the biggest fan of.

not really digging it. text seems blurry to me.
btw has anyone used the youtube html 5 sneak peak? if you right click and hit save video as, something that would have been funnier 3 years ago happens

Hid the menu bar and get that nice consolidated button. Nice!

I might sound crazy but I still like how Firefox renders pages better. Something about the colors...

Blurry txt? Anyone else have the problem?

Well I guess I'll stop using Chrome for now, always had compatibility/weird problems with it anyway and this seems noticeably faster on some sites. I've always gone back and forth anyway.

It's a bit amusing seeing people blissfully happy over these amazing new features that have been in Opera for quite some time... Anyway, is this less slow and clunky than the beta (from a few months ago)? It pretty much drove me crazy when I tried it. Also, do you still have to restart the browser when installing extensions? I'm always ready to try different browsers, but issues like that I just won't deal with.
