I don't know why, but Depp looks awesome there. So much more natural looking than pretty much anything else he's done in recent memory.

I don't get it either. His lisp annoys the hell out of me in the Batman movies.

I have to say Depp sells it for me too. One of my favorite actors.
 
I don't think I'll enjoy this. Outside of American Psycho I've never liked Bale a tremendous amount, I don't think Depp has it in him to be a reserved character and mean it and I've never really been a Michael Mann fan. Not to mention that gangster flicks rarely fail to put me to sleep.

Edit: I do quite like Ali though.

this a remake of the old James Cagney movie "Public Enemy?" I hope one of those guys smashes a grapefruit into the face of their leading lady

He gets way too much credit, yes. He had the same damn face on in both Batmans as he did in Equilibrium. Also it should be noted that in each Batman, his main enemy was the better actor in that specific movie. I like him though but yeah, he get's too much credit.

Why? Batman Begins is extremely over-rated (like Casino Royale). Horribly shot action with poor edits, no badguy worth giving a shit about (like Iron Man and Superman Returns), Batman Voice, etc. There's nothing memorable about the film for me, outside of maybe the ending. TDK on the other hand is pretty awesome and fixes most of the problems (except the Batman Voice)

edit: this isn't technically a thread derail but I'll quit while I'm ahead
