First Madden 360 [RENDERED] shot!

When playing do you really need to look deeply into the Riddell? Or the players' rears? Their tatoos? In real life football, the eyes and the football are the MOST important things to look at.

Have you played a football videogame? Tell me how important looking into a player's eyes was important on a football videogame.

This looks more realistic to what we will be seeing. You can notice how the detail in the jersey is bumped down (more like one object, not cloth floating on top), and the definition on the arms is down. I think the overall outline of the players will remain pretty consistent to what we see though. Definately expect fully rounded players and such.

The only thing I see being different from the first shot form a year ago to what we see on the one I linked to again is going to be the small things. The grass wont be that dynamic, the hands wont be that detaled, and the face wont be that articulate.

hehehe, I cant wait until you guys get floored

nice tag btw, i'll have to make an appropriate avatar ;)

So much for getting it on this gen of consoles, if it actually looks like(which I don't doubt)this , how do you as a avid (sports)gamer pass it up. Its like a crack head passing up a hit of the pipe.

I agree. It looks nowhere near that CG render shot. They did a good job playng tricks with the lighting though.

OK ... thats just awesome. I don't think I could wait for a PS3 version with *POSSIBLY* more power even if I wanted to. That is if I have the money to buy a 360. Maybe I should just buy crap right now so I CANT buy one.

From the EA website:

"Set your VCRs or digital video recorders so you can play back the commercial again and again, because you may not believe what you're going to see."

We may not believe it! They are raising expectations to stratospheric levels, surely they're confident! It also says the footage will appear in the first hour of the broadcast, so we won't have to wait too long!

I just hope it's not 50 seconds of Ray Lewis schtick followed by 10 seconds of hyper-MTV quick cuts.

I guess I'm with the few who know what good marketing is. This pic represents something that you won't see in-game, and unless they improve the zoom in the replays, you won't see it then either.

This is much more realistic and it looks like what they're doing is increasing the resolution to 720p thus making the players look smoother. Physics and animations are what people need to get excited about.

Need someone on the case with a HD Tivo and extraction stuff to get ready with a torrent. Its only 60 seconds, so a high quality version is doable.

I don't care about football, but I can't resist a look at what might be coming our way this year :)

[This is a public service announcement]

Julieta AKA Keyra AKA Hot ass girl has a new video and interview out...

On a totally unrelated note, is anyone a member of supertangas??

very impressed by this pic. the guy who worked for ea says he forsees it surpassing the original render so if it does anything close to this xbox 360 will have a huge advantage out of the gate especially if this is a launch title

that's bullshit, on the part of the EA guy. something that is said all the time now. but it does go to show that the new pic is definitally NOT a render. it's realtime. it doesnt look as high quality as far as IQ as the older render.

Looks like the only difference in those two shots is the amount of zoom.

There's no difference in the IQ of those two shots? What are you guys looking at? Of course you won't see as much detail further away vs. up close.

Looks real nice especially if it is in-game. But what I want to know is whether they will ever ship with the right rosters for the internet challenged, that would be amazing.

Looks good. I sure hope this isn't some CG shot because that will just piss me off.

Although, I guess I couldn't care less. I don't play Madden or sports games in general for the most part. :D

Y'know if MS manages to make the 360 a must buy console for Madden heads.... watch the heck out. This has killer app written all over it. Especially if it includes heavily integrated Xbox Live stuff.

I'm still having a really hard time believing there'll be any significant specific features beyond just a graphics bump. We shall see.

Well a graphics bump is a huge deal for the sports crowd.

Yeah, but don't you think if the bump is huge enough, that will draw in the crowds of buyers?

Dammit Azih!!! ;) :lol

Hey nathkenn, do you know if the commercial will be shown in HD??

well, yeah u wont need that kind of character detail during the typical play sequence, so I expect heavy use of LOD. I want to see what the surrounding environment and weather effects will be like though.. and definitely the animation and physics.

Seriously, does anyone (who can say) know if this is Renderware? Weren't all EA games supposed to switch over to that? If so then this is VERY impressive, rather than just impressive.

it obviously isnt, look at espn sales
Man the reasons for ESPN not performing as good as Madden are legion and graphics have nothing to do with them.

Sports more than any other genre strive for realism and that's why a generational leap in graphics upgrade have the most impact here.

Edit: Imagine a Fight Night with that level of graphics. Imagine a Wrestling game with visuals of that caliber. Hell think of a Winning Eleven with this much eye candy.

Looks great, but I don't think the real upclose shots will represent what you see ingame for the bulk of play. Why would they go that batshit insane on LOD if they didn't have to? And if they have, EA doing it doesn't mean everyone can/will. This next gen should be very interesting indeed.

If the machine is really so powerful, I can't wait to see it in action at E3, and PS3/Revolution could be even more insane. And if it is so powerful, how come it takes a team of movie animators fucking ages on ultra expensive kit to make movies that look only moderately better?

These shots are good teasers but theyre shit indicators. I wanna see a good stadium, with proper crowds, every man on the pitch. Lets see a daytime shot.

edit: oh and whats the bet that water/sweat/rain/snow particles are the new bump mapping and bloom lighting?
