First Mario 128 info?

There was some news from the Tokyo studio just recently. About another game in development, using the bongos.

I'll go and dig it up, though it didn't sound like Mario 128 (and nothing we've seen indicates it's being worked on there anyway).

Here we go, tough to find:

http://www.ga-forum.com/showthread.php?t=29897

"In a dutch mag this month was a interview ( well sort off ) and the director of the game said there was another game with the Konga controls in development and it has nothing to do with the DK franchise ."

"It was from the same team as DK Jungle beat . So it isn't Odama , and the said that it would be a bit like Dk Jungle beat and that he would like it if we play the ''new game'' with friends and beat each other's score ."

Thanks to Louis.

Not exactly easy to verify, unless some of the Dutch guys here know about it. Doesn't even say which mag though.

Jungle Beat. I'm not aware of anything else that has come of that studio.

OK, hard to track exactly which studio make most the games.

Does someone fancy doing a thread that breaks all Nintendo's current-gen first / 2nd party games down by developer / studio? HAL / EAD / Tokyo / NST etc?
Mario Kart DD for example?

Well I really hope Mario 128 and the new Zelda are amazing. It's kinda sad that Nintendo will probably do something wierd and stupid for the revolution like they did for the DS.

I pray every night that the new Mario game will be like the secret levels in SMS, but with classic enemies and powerups. I would shit my pants.

I don't think it's worth a new topic, so I'll just use this one as there's lots of future GC discussion, but did anyone notice this comment in IGN's updated release date list announcement?

"As is always the case in the games industry, release dates are subject to alteration without your consent, so refrain from throwing fits of rage over an invalid date. Unfortunately, the release dates for some of 2005's biggest titles remain locked away. You know which games we speak of: Mario Baseball, Animal Crossing 2 and Donkey Konga 3 to name a few. Still, we have reasonably solid dates for some of the year's biggest games, too. Star Fox Assault is still scheduled to launch February 15 with Donkey Kong Jungle Beat smashing its way into stores about a month later on March 14, 2005."

http://cube.ign.com/articles/582/582399p1.html

Now maybe that's nothing, or maybe IGN are slipping us a bit of news. I had just assumed that with Animal Crossing DS coming, we wouldn't get an Animal Crossing 2 on the GC. I mean, it's a franchise which is perfect for the DS and I don't see what you could do with it on the GC that you couldn't on the handheld.

It's probably nothing, but it stuck out to me. Perhaps they got confused and meant Kirby as it was one of the three games announced along with those other two.

With all this recent talk about Nintendo going online, I think the DS will go online soon. And when Iwata talks about the DS showing what they are trying to do with the Revolution I think that they mean an easy way to get online. Something even non gamers could do easily. I'm not really sure how, and whether it would cost money, but I would bet that Nintendo wouldnt want it to cost anything from past statements.

It stood in the Power Unlimited . That mag had also the first GT : SA screens + info after the E3 and it's the biggest game mag of the Netherlands .

If Nintendo gave me an AC2 on the Cube, I would be first in line to buy it.

Color me skeptical. It would take Nintendo close to a year to translate for the U.S. (if their previous bitching about AC was any indication) and by that time the Gamecube would be long dead. Better to concentrate on the DS and if you're gonna do a console version, do it for Revolution so the platform will be alive when it's translated to all markets.

Cool, thanks. Hope we see it at E3.

Yep, AC2 should be a launch title with Revolution. I even was thinking at one point that it could be packed in with Revolution.

Give me that, and give me Mario, and I will be more than satisfied. Burnout something or other wouldn't hurt, either.

They don't make bad games folks! FU Cubivore is awesome! Give them the Mario platformer, it's worth the gamble!

Ahhhh, I dont even wanna read that thread, you fokos gonna make the peeps have shitty hyping based on your false comment, Ill pass on this one

I don't think Animal Crossing 2 will come out for GameCube at all. I am sure the development team commenced initial development for the sequel, but they most likely put that on the back burner while they make Animal Crossing DS for the meanwhile. That development team is really lagging though, they need to release some new titles. The director and art team have really been tied down to tweaking this game for the past 5 years.

I can see it going either way. The GCN version is basically the N64 game with a few additions and high resolution, right? The low-tech graphics and sound didn't seem to hurt it too much. So if Revolution is backward compatible, I can see this being a late GCN game that could continue to sell to Revolution owners in the same fashion. Average GCN graphics would still seem like a big step over high res N64 graphics.

Animal Crossing 2 probably has become Animal Crossing DS.

The DS makes more sense for Animal Crossing anyway, its a portable platform, so you can take the game to work/school with you and check in on things and you can trade/send messages via the DS WiFi possibly some basic online stuff too. Typing should also be much faster with the touchscreen. And the game really doesn't need the GCN's horsepower.

Still if Super Mario 128, Resident Evil 4, Legend of Zelda LOTR, Killer 7, Star Fox Assault, New Sonic title, and Donkey Kong: Jungle Beat is what the GameCube in getting in 2005 ... count zero complaints from me.

Wasn't Shadowman (if you pressed L or something) or Shadowman 2 with RE4-style camera?

Animal Crossing 2 probably has become Animal Crossing DS.

I don't think so. Animal Crossing DS is going to be a sequel but it will be based of off the original Animal Crossing. The next Animal Crossing was hinted to not take place in the woods.

Slaughterhouse setting?

I actually seem to recall the real answer is something like lots of different areas, like on the ocean and deserts and things...I think

Mama Smurf said:

:lol

I can just picture a corrupt Tom Nook that farms new members of your village.

Everyone sends you letters telling you about the plan to escape town before slaughter day arrives.

K. K. Slider leaves hidden messages in his songs about the escape.

"Get out, do wee wee do we doo.
While you can, do wee wee do we dooooo."

I'm excited about Super Mario 128 though. I really hope it comes out this year.

I think that would make it the first time in a loooooong time that North America has gotten "real" sequels to the Legend of Zelda series and the Super Mario series in the same year.
