Now THIS is much better and more what I was expecting. This and Ghost Recon 3 are the one two to look 'next-gen' to me so far. Everything else is a HUGE letdown.

Err, I race in first person...so I won't be seeing much of the car while playing.

Looking through ALL of the 360 media thus far, the ONLY thing to TRULY blow me away was that 40 second video from the Japanese conference. THAT was absolutely mind blowing and is exactly the type of thing I wanted to see from the next gen. I hope it does not turn out to be CG, though...
link?

Holy crap. Maybe now people will realize that the technology is there and now it's up to what each dev can do with it instead of looking at oh... PD0 and jumping to conclusions. :lol

Can't wait to see what PS3 and Rev. bring to the table.

Exactly. Getting pretty tired of people making assumptions that just because a few games don't look that great, that the Xbox 360 is a POS. You can have all the hardware resources in the world, but if you don't take advantage of them, you end up with shit.

Gears of War looks pretty hot too.

Now, this has to be a first: trolling present-gen systems in a next-gen console/game topic.
How Xbox 360 graphics will actually compare beyond screenshots to the established standard is important to consider when discussing people's expectations.

Seriously. If someone posted that pic as an x360 game people would still be trolling it. I remember a thread where people were bashing a real life photo thinking it was a render.

I remember that, very funny. :)

I was told it was never ment for publication becuase it was old and not representable anymore for the game... :)

Enough of the CG, renders and PR, I want to see pics of these new games from an in game perspective.

E3 can't come soon enough.

I'm not sure if they are gonna have final hardware running demos.

Remember the ruckus caused by Halo running on XBoxen without the proper southbridge sound chip in 2001 E3? Pimplywerx Duane and I went on ten page flamefest because he refused to believe my reports of the Halo demos emulating 5.1 digital sound via CPU causing all the slowdowns. :lol

I think R500 will not be in enough supply to have all the demo kiosks running final hardware.

Yea you're probably right, I forgot about the hardware not being ready yet, I figured it was further along.

In that case E3 could be more of a fuel for speculation with little or no idea what to really expect from most games for either console next gen ?

:(

If it's anything like the 2001 E3, then I'd say definitely yes. Next 6 months are gonna be positively hellish @GAF. :lol

Pretty much confirmed here.

Microsoft has yet to show off any working prototypes of the Xbox 360, and is only demonstrating games on Apple Computer test computers.

well, all I seen of it was what looked like a big monster walking toward the screen. the whole clip only ran a few seconds. i couldn't say from that what the game actually looked like while playing, so i left it out.

so this PGR3 shot and the video of them playing Ghost Recon 3 are the only two things to make me think 'next-gen'... so far. still hoping e3 will pick back up my enthusiasm for all things xbox 360 again.

Screens like this beg the question, why did MS choose PD0 to be the showcase for the 360? Sure PD0 is probably the most antcipated 360 game besides Halo 3, but no one in their right mind could look at PD0 and decide that it would be MS's flagship game and represent to the public what the 360 is capable of. I wonder if the people who actually made the decisions on which games to highlight are that competent or very knowledgeable at all about video games. Someone should have gotten fired for making a mistake of this magnitude.

But what is even more of a mystery to me is how Rare, with the amount of time they have been given along with the awesome power of the 360, could only come up with that. No matter what people thought of Rare's gameplay there was always one thing everyone could agree on, and that was that they made some of the most graphically impressive games ever to grace consoles. It just doesn't add up. Sure, they have lost some talent but there is no way they could have lost that much talent.

Oh well, at least now we are starting to see what the 360 can really do and i am very impressed, almost as much as i am relieved. But what about all the people that don't surf gaming sites looking at screenshots and videos and just use mainstream events like that MTV special to get their impression of the 360. I honestly can't see those people, after watching that MTV special, getting too excited for MS next console. If anything, i imagine there are a ton of extremely underwhelmed people that decided they'll go ahead and wait until the PS3 comes out.

Make no mistake, the 360 is a beast and (imo) will have no trouble at all holding its own, graphically, against the PS3. But first impressions are very very important and MS dropped the ball big time.

I guess you don't remember E3 2001. It was alot worse first showing for XBox 1. But by the time XBox came out in November, things were very different indeed.

Only trolls pay too much attention to first impressions.
