First Reactions To Ant-Man

It's gotta be a Spidey-related scene at the end right? I don't know what else they could tease from Civil War that would get such a big reaction.

I have a bad feeling that this movie will be less like Ocean's Eleven and more like Tower Heist, a forgettable heist movie starring comedians and directed by Brett Ratner, and that's not just because both movies have Michael Peña.

It's been a while since the deal came through, long enough for Marvel to create a short CGI scene with Spidey swinging or something. Plus, Civil War is already filming and Marvel will definitely have the suit design nailed down. Chances are pretty high.

Should be more like Modok's 11

The most positive thing for me about the tweet impressions so far is that a number of them mention heart. It's good to know that the family-centric tone of the story has been retained and seems to actually show off well in the film. It's certainly the most unique aspect of the story as was promised, more so than being a heist film.

Not surprising to me that they mention "heart." Scott Lang's relationship to his daughter, Cassie, has always been a major part of his character. It's why they rushed her back to life before the current Ant-Man comic launched.

Probably not. Unless they added a scene in sometime after June 8th, when Tom Holland has his final screen test

Scott and Cassie's relationship were the only thing interesting about Lang
Oh man The Spot would've been perfect for this movie in the weirdest way

Spot is a villain who's powers would be amazing on the screen.

Add me to the "prescreen tidbits on twitter are never indicative of anything" camp.

But I'm not satisfied until I get my Courtroom Fantasy Action movie starring She-Hulk.
I like you.

If the biggest "must see" scene in a movie is a throwaway after credits stinger, is the movie actually any good?

You know how comic nerds love continuity, a cameo or doing a reference to a coming character or film and they are all hyped. It doesn't mean what it came before it was bad.

I was fairly excited but wasn't expecting anything in particular, but thanks to these impressions and the latest trailer now hype is rising and i can't wait for this to be out, sounds like such a great time. Very interested to hear it's a very small-scale (heh) and more personal story, would be a nice change of pace from the last few Marvels. Do not want to spoil what the credit scenes are i want to be really surprised if they're as good as they say it is

Well people thought The Dark Knight was some amazingly intelligent piece of crime drama so who cares what most people think.

I'd really like to see a third act of a superhero movie that didn't devolve into a numbing incomprehensible CGI fest for once.

You want to talk about bad third acts. TDK has one of the most vanilla.

Age of Ultron was pretty bad, but Jurassic World made it seem ok
gee, some people sure love to shitpost in every thread. Like T Dollarz here hating on JW because it outgrossed Ultron and smashed all of Avengers records.

I think literally every thread from the last couple of months have a bunch people just randomly saying JW is shit, whether or not it has anything to do with the topic. You do realize it has generally positive reviews from critics and average moviegoers alike? You're all in the minority thinking it's a shit movie

1 million is Smashed? Give your head a shake.

I feel kinda bad for Peyton Reed. If the movie is successful, people will chalk it up to Edgar Wright's script, early art direction, etc. If it's a flop, people will just say, "See? Shouldn't have fired Edgar Wright!". I don't think he can win.
He's doing hack work, he knows what he signed up for.

I'm just pointing out a lot of people on Gaf only bring up critics and audience when it helps their cause. I don't care about them. If you can't articulate why a film works for you then I don't care what you think.

Most people on gaf do that. They doesn't mean audience and critical reception are meaningless. Have some self awareness. Critic response and audience enjoyment do not determine a movie's worth but neither are they worthless metrics, especially if they go hand in hand. There's more to evaluating a movie than a singular person's narrow view. Even if you don't like something as much as other people, there's value in having some humility and trying to see what others may have seen in it in order to understand how a film works as both art and as a commercial product. Understanding other viewpoints is far more constructive than writing off a generalized group of people as tasteless and stupid merely because they disagree with a certain opinion.

Why are you deliberately trying to be a juvenile ass? Just because there is rampant hyperbole about JW doesn't somehow justify being a MCU hater. Two cases of being overly negative doesn't justify either. What are you even trying to accomplish? Are your saying people should be able to shit post and misconstrue twitter comments to fit their own bias? JW threads are a minefield of exaggeration and hyperbolic negativity too. The difference is JW talk will fade whereas the MCU hate has been building all year and will continue to do so long after JW is forgotten.

Wait...this is you stating this right? The same person that shitposts in every MCU thread?

According to El Mayimbe, this is what the end credit scenes consist of:

The first mid credits scene:Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) gives the WASP costume with wings to Hope Van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly). Hank explains to Hope what happened to Hope's mother Janet Van Dyne.

Final credits scene: The scene has Captain America, The Falcon, and The Winter Soldier. Cap and Falcon have located The Winter Soldier to a remote location where The Winter Soldier is tied up.

Falcon asks Cap "Should I call Stark?"

Cap replies "No."

Falcon replies "I know who to call." Implying Ant-Man.

In case you didn't know, Falcon is in Ant-Man in a few key scenes.

*Take it with a grain of salt

Lol dude. I was just annoyed about how i look forward to reading about Marvel news but every Marvel thread has the same people that just have to remind everyone a million times about how shit MCU or Ultron was. I get tired of the negativity, not just for Marvel but things in general. People on gaf love to hate on everything and Ive pointed out Gaf's general negativity and hyperbole before. But whatever, haters gonna hate. I'll keep enjoying my Marvel movies.

Heist movie has got me a bit more interested in this movie. Would be cool to see a Marvel movie that might not have ridiculous "world ending" stakes by the end. I'm gonna guess somewhere around 70% on Rotten Tomatoes.

How does it invalidate every film that came before it? Hyperbole.

Every single development in Phase 2 is paved over.

SHIELD was destroyed? Oh hey look a Helicarrier.

I want to note that some of the minor things that aren't explained in AoU are actually done so in the Agents of SHIELD show (e.g. how the Avengers found Strucker's base at the beginning).

That wasn't even on my list, but don't get me started on Strucker only being in three minutes of the actual film.

You're all in the minority thinking it's a shit movie.

I love when fanboys act like having opinions is a fucking crime.
