The Lost World is the only JP movie i enjoy.

that "sense of wonder" spiel has never worked on me. sense of wonder over what? two terrible looking cgi brachiosauruses? T Rex introduction is certainly better in JP but id argue Lost World does big set pieces better.

InGen dino capture/stampede is great.
returning the baby T Rex is great.
nighttime camp scene ending with the bloody waterfall is great.

gymnastics are great.
you guys are such troglodytes.

Jurassic World |OT| We still miss you, Goldblum

Jurassic World |OT| Where's there a will, there's CGI

Jurassic World |OT| That doesn't look very scary. More like a six-foot turkey

Jurassic World |OT| God help us, we're in the hands of CGI artists

Jurassic World |OT| Can't just suppress 65 million years of sequel instinct

I suck at OT titles.

This right here is my concern over Jurassic World.

This is CGI from '97 and it looks leagues better than anything I've seen from Jurassic World.
To JW's credit, it seems like they've been polishing the CGI/color grading over time, though it's hard to pinpoint with their recent clips because it seems like they're mixing early and recent editions of the footage together in their promos.

Almost forgot:

Jurassic World |OT| Spared some expense.

In all honesty it has various good to great moments, but is letdown when it comes to story and characters and unfortunately has some of the dumbest moments in the franchise. I don't hate the movie as much as most people but it's not my fav either.

I am not falling for this shit again. I remember Godzilla getting the same praise in the beginning and that turned out to be shit.

This scene did not work for you?

You are in the minority then. Shit was truly magical the first time I watched it in the theaters. Still is.

Yup. I watch the trailers for JW and just think, "that CGI looks like total shit".

We really aren't that much further forward in making it look real.

Jurassic World |OT| Please! God damn it, I hate this hack and crap.

Cruel, but good word use.

The Lost World had some clever sequences that are up there with some of Jurassic Park's, but bottom line it was a dumb movie that thought it was smart. Jurassic Park III was a dumb movie that knew it was dumb. Worked better as a brainless popcorn movie, TLW in comparison was just a waste.

Unfortunately everything about Jurassic World seems to be shaping up to be like TLW--dumb pretending to be smart.

That 75% number seems about right to me. Not that hard to beat JP2 or 3. And you have stupid shit like Chris Pratt: The Raptor Whisperer.

The Lost World is the only JP movie i enjoy.

I like it a better only because of this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aFtkw4KJAF4

It is still a really bad movie though. At least 3 had the sense to take all the good stuff from the books there were never included in the films and the plot was mostly just getting off the island.

Someone pull out brandonh83's rant about how TLW is just Ian Malcolm ego boosting the movie.

I did enjoy some scenes but w/e. Love the brief T-Rex chase.

But best JP sequel? Well, the content doesn't seem to be stretched out from like the 30 TV spots we got and with a good run time I can believe it.

CGI at night in rain always looks better than daylight stuff

Also from The Lost World

The stuff in the latest Jurassic World trailers is leagues ahead of the previous JP films

If you can't see that I don't know what to say.

I think you summed up all of my feelings pretty aptly.

Of course, not all of it looks fantastic--I'm sure some of it won't play as well on camera--but neither did all of TLW or JP3. T-Rex in the rain, at night, shocker, still looks good.

The key will be how well it animates and that looks extremely promising as well:

I'm shocked more people haven't mentioned this. My first reaction to the trailer was "are they using the same animation from the first film?"

Edit: Regarding the post above me... That doesn't look very good.

That's not a high bar to clear.

Jurassic Park movies are like making out dude. When they're good, they're really damn good. When they're bad, they're still pretty good.

I'm going into this very excited, just like I did with all the films and I've never been disappointed.

Does this have a lot of ties to the previous films?

I've only ever seen the original Jurassic Park as I heard the sequels were rancid, but willing to give this one a watch as I do like Chris Pratt...Just don't want to be lost story wise.

I liked all the Jurassic Park movies to some extent (JP1 favorite movie of all time, JP2 was fun the first watch, JP3 was entertaining as all hell), so I'll probably like this. Can't wait.

Seems more tied with the first movie with Wu, the original JP T-Rex returning, and acknowledging InGen and Hammond. Not so much for the other 2 sequels.

Then again, we don't know to what extent TLW and JP3 be acknowledged since the film's not out yet, but I highly doubt they will be.

Not really, no. It's set about ~25 after the events of the first movie and pretty much ignores 2 and 3, though they're still canon.

pack it up hollywood

CGI is dead

I'll be surprised if they do something like the first T-Rex scene from the first film. Slow-paced, up-close-and-personal, constantly straddling the line between adventure and horror.

I have a feeling (totally unfounded mind you) that the elements will be there. Big dinosaurs sniffing a character's vehicle, breaking glass, lots of yelling, but it won't feel anywhere near as tense or genuinely "WTF" as the first film.

I think it'll probably be more of a horror slasher bent to it. Just going by the trailer shots we've seen, stuff like the blood dripping onto the guy's hand... just feels more horror-ish to me.

Was this sarcastic? The screens you posted all look mostly horrible. In no way would I consider the movie looking amazing from these. Better than JP? sure, but thats a 20+ year old bar to try hitting. It had the benefit of something new and used CG very conservatively along with lots of tricks to mask it. This just looks in your face and CG, which is what we all have problems with..

the lost world is awesome

its full on goldblum and dinosaurs and the pacing is more dynamic

its a fun movie

youll bustas dont know fun

it has a great soundtrack, goldblum is pretty entertaining too. but what really makes it worth a watch imo is the hunter played by postlethwaite

jurassic park 3 is just unredeemable shit though.

I still don't get how they can't take down the I-Rex with guns. Guess I'll just have to see the movie! ...eventually...
