Found a better picture of the old me. On the left, XL shirt, 38 inch waist. On the right, M shirt, 32 inch waist. 2011 vs today.
Sounds extremely good! We are all waiting!Man, y'all are beautiful people. I'm currently on a diet, trying to get my body fat % down to single digits. It's my fourth year of lifting and the first time I'm starting so see some abs. At this rate, I might be done cutting come september. Gonna post a pic then!![]()

Now I've been cutting down from another big bulk. Can't wait to share more of my journey in the next few months. Kudos to all the hard work shown in this thread.
I'm sorry my post was so long, but it's been a crazy journey!!!

Edit: Ok, after some magic I managed to make them to show. Attaboy! Great job!
Hahah, I am loving your attitude! Well done. Keep at it!Thanks! So far the highlight of my weight loss was a person (who lacked class) asked me if I was sick. I was taken aback and flattered at the same time! Also got so many compliments in front of an obese coworker he joined my gym and gave up soda. Never thought of myself as a role model, ha!
Oh, and my current after picture is next year's before pic! Already seeing results after a month of Starting Strength!
question for you guys
Right now I'm just focusing on losing fat by doing lots of cardio, swimming, and cutting calories. I'm gonna start lifting in the fall when I have access to a gym, and I plan on buying the starting strength book, but how do I know how much weight to start out on? Is it just trial and error (without hurting myself), or is there some way to calculate it or something?
Mirin...Friend of mine took a pretty decent picture yesterday.
Pretty much at my ideal weight and size right now. This winter its back to the strength chasing game but I feel good at this point.

Mirin...
Fantastic job everyone, really inspiring.
Here's my 2013 to 2014. Last year was phenomenal, not really happy with my progress this year. I need to reduce alcohol and kick gluten I think to lose more fat, the days of easy loss are behind me

Exactly - you do what makes you feel good and what you enjoy doing!I tell you. Im one of the cursed Ectomorphs. I am always thin and athletic, but never that jacked...or even cut look.
I can run for days, but getting in the gym and lifting heavy is like asking me have a root canal done everyday.
Not only that, I have given it the college try. Ate over 3000 calories a day, lifted 5 times a week. Big compound movements....maybe...MAYBE gained 7 pounds. over 6 months. So, imagine a root canal 5 out of 7 days a week, with little of my beloved cardio, along with more eating than I care to do (because eff, 3000 clean you are eating all the time and with a job is extremely difficult).
So now, I do what I want...Lift maybe...MAYBE three times a week, run for as long and as frequent as I want to eat as much as I can (but not counting calories), and Im having a great time.
So, in a way, my fitness goal is being achieved....Work out to enjoy the process and not for a vain goal.![]()
I'm not nearly in fitness model shape yet but I've made a lot of progress.
I got really fat and depressed at the end of a bad marriage. I was probably 275. This is my face from then till now.
My path was that I lost a ton of weight just through diet originally. I went from 275 to 195-200 over a year or so. I wasn't happy with how I looked though. So I decided to join a gym.
This is my gym progress since November. Hard to see a ton of differences here but it's the same outfit.
Here's the (blurry) progress with the same pose.
I'm not at hard body yet but coming from where I was I'm really proud of all the work and dedication I've put in.

That's awesome progress. I'm sure you definitely feel it.
Here's the end of my bulk 211lbs @ 5'9".
Really dehydrated too :/
Meat based diet with plenty of veggies. Keep your carbs low. Lift weights. Stick to 2250-2500 calories a day. Lower if weight loss stalls. You'll be a different person in a year if you are consistent and dedicated. Good luck! If you need weight lifting advice visit the link in the OP. Weight lifting isn't a necessity but it will help greatly. You guys are all doing really well!
I'm 5'8" and like 250ish now. It's getting pretty depressing and I realize what I need to change, but I'm having such a hard time nailing down a good food regimen. Any help is greatly appreciated and I'll be keeping this thread around as you guys are becoming an inspiration for me.

Me on the right at my heaviest, three years ago at 325. Immediately after that weekend I realized I needed to fix my shit and lose the weight.
Here's me two weeks ago, jumping oven the final obstacle at the PA Spartan Sprint. Still have a ways to go, but I'm still on the right path!
Cross post from FitGaf. Down 10lbs from when I started this thread.

I have come to the conclusion that I won't be at 7% BF this summer because there is only 5 weeks left and I wan't to have fun and drink. Though I would only need 2 weeks to get my bottom 2 abs full blown. The lighting in the pics don't make my abs look as good but this is the best I can do.

Thanks man! It's been hard but it's so worth it! I pretty much only train to be able to do obstacle course events, they're so much fun. Also did aTough Mudder earlier this year, a Warrior Dash and a Zombie Run in August, and another Tough Mudder in October. :-D
