It's pretty expensive actually.

From MyProtein.

Ahh you're from the UK?

Are you taking concentrate or isolated whey? If so I know the price is close to £40. Go to Amazon and get a monthly subscription of ON gold standard and it's about £36/7 and that's good value for what it's worth

Just got Strawberry version of this from GNC, asked for something with no carbs and that dissolves quick. Nutrition wise it's pretty magical, 25g protein for 110cal with virtually no carbs. I shudder at the artificial ingredients used to sweeten it though, hope they used stevia. It does feel a bit thin when mixing a scoop with half a shaker of water, maybe I should try less water?

Half a shaker?!

Hehe! That's a lot! I only use about 200ml. Fixes thicker. Don't worry about the amount of liquid you have, it's just about the power

Which MyProtein whey are you having? There are about 6 different ones. I've had True Whey with water and I thought it was horrible.

Their Impact Whey Isolate is good with water though. It tastes a lot like fruit juice, which is odd... but nice. Much cheaper than anything ON does too at about £12 per kg of protein (actual protein, not powder) vs £20 per kg for ON's 100% Whey.

I personally don't rate ON's 100% Whey with water. One of the flavours gives me a headache, and I can't seem to get the others to blend properly, no matter how much I shake them. They're great with milk though, very nice.

Edit - Updated comparison with better price for 100% Whey.

Whoaaa, where did you get those values from?! And what do you mean protein, not pwder?

Well, each product obviously has x grams of protein per 100g of product.

It's just a simple calculation, take the price of the product and divide it by the weight of the product... that gives you cost per kg, which you then divide by the number of grams of protein per 100g of product... that gives you cost per kg of protein.

Examples (costs might not be 100% accurate, have not looked for the cheapest in a few weeks, and obviously short term deals / voucher codes may affect this considerably):

Code:
					Cheapest / Kg PR	Variety
MyProtein Impact Whey £10.52 5.0kg
MyProtein Impact Whey Isolate £12.06 5.0kg
MyProtein Total Protein £12.83 5.0kg
MyProtein Total Milk & Whey £13.61 5.0kg
MyProtein Milk Protein Smooth £14.13 4.0kg
MyProtein Impact Whey Deluxe £14.31 5.0kg
MyProtein Acid Whey £14.60 2.4kg
MyProtein True Whey £18.92 5.0kg
Optimum Gold Standard 100% Whey £18.92 2.3kg
Reflex Instant Whey £21.98 2.3kg
Maximuscle Promax £26.33 1.2kg
Optimum Gold Standard 100% Casein	£27.34 1.8kg
Reflex Peptide Fusion £29.30 2.3kg
Reflex Instant Whey Deluxe £29.62 2.3kg
Reflex Micro Whey £33.07 2.3kg
Optimum Platinum HydroWhey £38.12 1.5kg
Reflex Micellar Casein £38.31 0.9kg

The variety listed is usually the cheapest size per kg you could buy, though in some cases it's limited by what I could find using a quick search.

Edit - Updated with a cheaper price for 100% Whey.

Yup it was True Whey.

Yup price was a joke. I swapped to impact whey but I'm still sick of the flavor haha. I'll check out ON.

I'm dense as hell when it comes to maths..How does it compare to the below

http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B000QSRO1Y/

This is what I was talking about the subscription. It's 0.25 less weight that the MP version, 24gms per serving.

Does the MP stuff have BCAAs too?
That (on subscribe and save) is about £19 / kg protein. Pretty much identical in price to True Whey from MP.

I don't know about what's in the MP ones, you'd need to look at the website (it's pretty good). I've been initially focused on finding what I can stomach before deciding what I use long term. I've eaten probably about 50 different samples at this stage.

Edit - Oh, and on a random note... free range chicken costs about £50 per kg of protein. :(

Hey guys, currently doing SL. I do assistance exercises at the end of my workout. I was just wondering if there were worthwhile and if not, what should I change?

Currently:

Workout A
  • Squats 5x5
  • Bench Press 5x5
  • Pendlay Row 5x5
  • Push-ups 3xF
  • Reverse Crunches 3x12

Workout B
  • Squats 5x5
  • Overhead Press 5x5
  • Deadlift 1x5
  • Chin-ups 3xF
  • Plank 3xF

Are dips better than push ups? Triceps or chest version?

Haha, you are right! gave it a go with 200ml, much more pleasing texture. I need to sort my old fixers though, shit leaks all over the place.

I wouldn't really say any exercise is inherently "better" for you than another, if doing both properly with good form, they should both yield results.

I personally prefer dips, but with this system, it seems that it's trying to hit all body parts instead of isolating them day by day, so I think that pushups are the better choice because they work both chest and triceps, and dips usually only favor one over the other, depending on your form.

I just started lifting about a month ago. I really suck at squats. Part of the problem is I'm not strong enough in the upper body to get the barbell over my head and on my back. I have to use the barbell that is on the bench press ummm bench. We don't have a rack I can set it on to start from. I'm 6'4" long and skinny. I've been doing leg presses to compliment but I'm sure they are not as effective.

I can see from reading I need to be lifting way heavier than what I'm doing right now. I did some 140lbs deadlifts. How much do the barbells way? They seem to be pretty heavy lol!

Holy fuck, get a better gym and quit doing squats like that.

Find a new gym. What your doing is incredibly dangerous.

5'11 and up is not tall. At least not in the United States.

I put up 225 19 times when I was practing for it. Maybe I'll start trying again. It always pissed me off I didn't get 20.

Average height for an adult male in the United States is about 5'9". So, yes, 5'11" is tall.

That seems a little weird. Why don't they just do max lift?

Never really heard of this.

I'm not sure what the logic is behind it but they have been doing it for decades. You should try it. See if you can hit 25. Don't worry about form. Bounce the SOB off you chest!

5'10 for All Americans, 5'10.5 for White Americans age 20-39. 5'11 is slightly above average, hardly tall.

Shogun, you really don't see how being able to do a certain motion x amount of times more than the guy across the line from you is important over a 60-minute game?

I'm fine. I'm just wondering why you are dismissing it from the get-go if you don't know what the point is.

I think you're misreading my posts, or you're defensive for no reason on the wrong subject.

The first post is a legitimate question (I've never heard of the NFL combine, or 225 rep maxes like this), the subsequent posts are me stating that the sentiment "anyone can do a heavy max" is absurd, followed by me saying the endurance part is understandable, however, the mentality behind everyone being able to have a high 1rm is absurd.

I hope that clears it up for you.

I'm not trying to be defensive. I'm actually surprised that you have never heard of the NFL combine before, so your first few posts just seemed to scream "lol reps challenge".

Nope, I've never followed it. I'm a big strong nerd. I'm not into traditional sports.

I lift weights, shoot guns, play video games and read books. I'm a fucking powerlifting nerd.

Yeah I watched the vid and have seen plenty of combine footage. Obviously they don't do it at the beginning.

idk most of the guys don't bounce at all, so you saying to bounce and use shitty form (they keep pretty good form throughout too) is misrepresentative of what actually happens.

At the end when they are tired and trying to squeeze out a few more reps their form is usually shit. I don't think I misrepresented at all. To each their own.
