I always think that, but once I get my legs moving those DOMs go away (while running).
Yeah, but that first km is a biatch.
I always think that, but once I get my legs moving those DOMs go away (while running).
Went to a nutrition seminar (read: product promotion) at my gym just now and a couple of things mentioned:
- Don't have proteins within a couple of hours prior to workout as it may zap your energy.
- Don't pre-mix your post workout protein with water ahead of time as it will lower the protein percentage. Also, consume within 20mins after ending session.
Hit 400x3 on the squat yesterday! Big PR for me, feeling real good about 405 next month.
I also started doing Greyskull LP in July and I'm very happy with it. I'd like to see more people doing it since it seems like it's not that popular at least around here even though it's mentioned every now and then. It was even written up in OT3's OP but it's not in current OP since the original text was a quote so it didn't come along when Mr. City copied the text to the new OP.
Same here. I feel nothing while running.I always think that, but once I get my legs moving those DOMs go away (while running).
Zap your energy? Why? Also, why consume your shake 20 minutes before ending your session? Did they offer no evidence?
Fuck yeah.
Fixed that.
It was my first day back in the gym yesterday after taking a week off due to illness. I managed to pick up right where I left off. Yes.
Edit: Nerdy, what's your reasoning for doing sets across with the deadlift?
Same here. I feel nothing while running.
I hate running. First, after 30 seconds I can just feel stiffness/soreness creeping up my legs, and then my breathing becomes an issue.
I swear my feet on the treadmill just go CLOMP CLOMP CLOMP while people next to me are essentially silent on the treadmills.
Elliptical for me.
He said the body was busy processing/digesting the proteins and that require extra amount of energy (compared to carb/fat I guess).Zap your energy? Why?
He offered no such insights. edit: after workout you mean. Also, why consume your shake 20 minutes before ending your session? Did they offer no evidence?

hahaha That's how I used to feel. But after I started running more it became more natural. I use the elliptical to warm up sometimes. But I can't seem to work up the same kind of sweat on the elliptical.I hate running. Congratulations are most definitely in order. You'll hit 405 no problem next month, too!Hit 400x3 on the squat yesterday! Big PR for me, feeling real good about 405 next month.

Does anyone disagree with this hierarchy? From all the nutritional information I've gleaned over the past few years it seems like a spiffy summary to me.Nutritional Hierarchy of Importance for Fat-Loss/ Muscle Gain
In broad simple terms:
- Calorie intake vs expenditure controls whether you gain or lose weight.
- The macronutrient composition of your diet (carbs/fats/protein) controls the ratio of how much fat vs muscle is lost/gained.
- Nutrient timing, for the non-athlete, is a very distant third. -All the research so far backs this up.

AWESOME JOB!
Fuck yeah.
Great work Anton!

Haha, great song.
And congrats, that's impressive.
You squat more than double what I can do. =)

No. that's solid. Although not all carbs and fats are created equal, carbs especially depending on the glycemic index of the food it can definitely hinder weight loss or encourage weight gain.http://rippedbody.jp/2012/08/12/intermittent-fasting-bbc-horizon/#more-5067

He said 20 minutes AFTER ending your session. IE; drink your protein right away, don't wait a a half hour or more to drink it.
The reason behind it is that your body needs the protein right away, it helps stop muscle breakdown. If you really want to stop muscle breakdown and see the best gains you should also be spiking your insulin with simple carbs upon ending your workout too, a lot of body builders drink Dextrose DURING workouts to keep their glycogen levels up at all times but that's obviously not for everyone (obviously not people trying to lose weight).
Honestly when it comes to nutrition, nothing is an exact science, we're discovering new things everyday, but this has some evidence behind it.

I've heard all the reasons about it. I'm using these questions to determine if Man is just buying into this guy's jargon without questioning it. The biggest piece of advice I can give in this thread is to QUESTION EVERYTHING.
How big is a 'large' scoop for protein? It says 25g for a large scoop but I don't have any scoopers apart from a ice cream scoop, so I used it and weighed 25g from a kitchen scale and it came out at 3 ice cream scoops.
How much water (in ml) can a 'large 25g' scoop hold?

I had no idea. Thanks. And to think i spent all my teenage years learning to dunk in basketball (I´m 5´11-6´0 with small hands) and i never done any squatting to help with my jumping.
I'd say a large scoop holds about 7oz of liquid
What scoop are you using that holds almost a cup of liquid?
protein powders usually come with a scoop... I'd say a large scoop holds about 7oz of liquid
Someone recommended Zottman curls which I'm going to start up this week.Anyone here that has some advice on how to train for grip strength?
11 reps @ 140 OHP.

Beast.
I wish my gym had a barbell OHP station, they've only got smith machines, or normal machine press. I can do 200 x 12 on the machine press @_@ I know on a barbell I wouldn't even come CLOSE to that, feels like I'm cheating :'( DEM STABILIZER MUSCLES!

Use the power cage or a squat rack. That's what I do.

I'll give it a try to finish off my cut.
I forgot to mention my dinner yesterday. 10oz of salmon, 7oz of brown rice and 2 cups green beans.
I rubbed the salmon down with olive oil, garlic powder and sriracha sauce, wrapped it in tin foul and grilled it. Amazing meal.
Im gonna keep it short and to the point. Due to some health ailments im really looking at my health and have decided to make a change. Im currently sitting at 332 and 5 '9". Ive changed my eating habits and for the last three weeks ive been taking supplements and NO2. Ive been doing lighr cardio for three weeks but lifting heavy. I started just this week of jogging while holding five lbs up hills around my home. My question to you is what would the safest way to build mass and what can i do to work those problem areas? Thanks in advance for the input.
Oh why oh why do people ruin the entire point of grilling by wrapping foods that don't need it in foil? lol

What did you have at home? I take it you didn't have a barbell if you didn't bench press. If that's the case why not just work on the programs in the OP until you hit a wall.I've been working out at home for about 2 years with basic equipment which basically means no bench press but in 2 weeks I'm moving to university and will be using their gym. I've never actually worked out at a gym before so what's a good program to take advantage of a real gym. I am in no way a beginner though so I would need a slightly challenging program.

Oil and high heat and you are fineNo fish basket or plank, wouldn't the salmon get stuck/flake directly on the grill?

Nope, just make sure your grill is hot and "seasoned."
