I've noticed every time I get into a long-term relationship, I start letting myself go...how do you guys stay motivated or become motivated to work out even though there's no real reason besides overall health to do it? I had this same problem with quitting smoking, which I eventually did cold turkey since February after like 7 attempts, but it was hard because there was no immediate reason to do it.

Man, I can't for the life of me bend my arms back that far. It would be so much more comfortable if I could.

I "rolled" my elbow against the barbell to loosen it up, made the position real easy, I also only pit my fingertips on the bar when I roll my arms under, but I guess a lot of people have that mobility issue and do it your way, or even use a harness or special bar.
You're right. My back hurts worse now then it did this morning.

Ice that shit. When I had my back issue I iced it all day and it was nearly fixed by the next day.

What happened?

Do you cross your arms? I find that makes it harder. Also, this may sound wimpy, but I use a pad with the front squats. Keeps my clavicle from bruising.

Nope, elbows straight out in front.

It probably makes it harder since you're not stabilizing the bar as much. There's no reason to do it that way if you can do it the way I'm doing it.

Edit: I pretty much do them like this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vd_WsfebYOg (quick and dirty video find)

I've been with my wife for 13 years. You find a reason to do it for yourself and to keep yourself attractive for your spouse.

I think realistically I'm probably as strong as I'm going to be on the bench. I've been at or around the same weight for years

True, and you've been lifting for a long ass time too. Have you tried micro loading? Chains/bands? Only other suggestion is te PED kind.

Ah yeah. Finally arrived six days later. Shipping (to Australia) cost more than the actual product but very curious about this one. TheDarkStark and other online reviewers are raving about it:

It's porn is what it is. I was looking forward to this as much as I do any new gadget.
Here's more revealing shots:

Tastes great. Sweeter than I'm used to but this is delicious.

I just can't seem to make progress. I don't know - maybe I'm not doing them often enough to make progress. Maybe my form is shit. Maybe I need to gain weight. Who knows? No to micro-loading, chains/bands, etc.

Maybe get some short bands from EFTS or some other company and do some that way, or get some cheap 1.25 plates off of amazon. You might just be at/near your GP and any gains are gonna be slow/arduous.

Eating more definitely would probably help, haha.

Have you thought of switching to WSBB? I know you were doing 531/smolov earlier.

You know what combo I have the hardest time giving up?

Chest and Back Supersets.

Nothing seems more natural and right that pulling and pushing motion. Its the perfect amount of break between your sets and anytime I try to pair or do back by itself, never feels right.

I tried Smolov once, and failed on the second time due to a busy schedule - no sleep, not enough eating. I did 5/3/1 for a few years and kind of burned out on it. I've just been dicking around lately. I've thought of doing some WS training of some sort, but I don't know. I think the big thing is just not eating enough. I've been at 210-220 for years too. My squat has come along pretty well, and I'm real happy with it - 405 for a few reps. DL has been slacking off, having trouble with 495, when I've lifted as much as 515. I think I just need to eat.

Got no problem staring at pictures of swole dudes, but talking about fucking cowboys might be going a little too far.

Stop eating shit. Exercise more.

(Yes I have this ready to copy and paste anytime.)

Lose weight. Eat better and lift. Level of importance is in order.

I already lost like 30kg and my trainer tells me to loose like more 10 kg for me to be in a perfect shape....

when i started i was 125kg right now i m at 95kg and my height is 6"3

If you have face fat you have too much fat everywhere. Lose weight. Lift weights. Etc.

Maybe u r right i need to loose some more....

Questions about logging exercises:

EZ Bars usually weigh 35 lbs right?

Also, on Leg Presses, do you guys only log the weight you add or is there a specific amount that the sled on the machine on its own weighs that you add?
Edit: on second thought nobody really adds the sleigh weight do they?

There is not a standard, to my knowledge. The one in my dorm's basement is 20 lbs. We weighed it out of curiosity.

Standard size Olympic bars weight 45lbs.
EZ Curl bars, generally, weigh 15lbs.

Well, if there is any product from the supplement industry (beyond the basics, viz., multivitamin / fish oil) that is worthwhile, it is probably a quality protein powder. I'd be more concerned if our friend here were ecstatic over the arrival of a new package of "Super Mass Creatinic Xtreme God Pump 12,000" or some other such bullshit (which comprises the overwhelming majority of the industry).

Probably so, but for most recreational lifters, you don't have to take fancy protein powders or pay more for it. Just head to WalMart, grab that cheap Body Fortress whey, and you're good.

I agree. In fact, I'd take it a step further and say that for a recreational lifter, the money spent on powders might as well be diverted into buying more quality food to eat.

I have taken both the $70 slow release, pr marketing spin of whey and the giant bag at costco. Hell I have even cut whey out altogether and if you know what your doing, doesn't make any difference.

Agreed. I haven't taken protein powder in months, but rather have just eaten more protein, and I am fine.

Really great workout today, nothing amazing numbers wise (week 2 of 531 BBB), but I can really see myself getting bigger. I worked out in a tank today (need to do laundry...) and my traps are noticeably bigger than before. They are my biggest weak point aesthetically.

I don't get my OHP though, it's been way down, even lower than the end of my cut. I was doing 145 for 4-6 reps and now I'm struggling to get out 135 (today I did 125 for W2). Week 3 is gonna feel a little embarrassing, but it's whatever. I felt really good when I repped out 145 at 178 lbs, but now meh.

On this supplement talk. I only really use protein (and now creatine), but I only use protein powders to make certain meals taste better (oats, coffee). It's an easy/safe way of adding flavor to something bland. So a tub lasts me a while.

I have completely cut out soda so I consider the protein shakes a 'snack' or reward. I mean, I use it post workout primarily and otherwise I just eat healthy but I want to enjoy that shake, it's not just fuel. Also use it for my breakfast oats on workout days.

Yes, powders are clearly not necessary; muscular and fit people existed before the supplement industry. Still, they have their uses: depending on how much protein you consume, it can be cost-effective to utilize powders; and, a person's sanity can be preserved because they get to have an artificially sweetened double dutch chocolate shake with (e.g.) some peanut butter rather than skinless chicken breast #4,872.
