What's most insulting about Planet Fitness is that they preach this idea of creating a no pressure, no judging atmosphere. Yet I've never seen a gym with such stringent rules on how one should dress or conduct themselves. Hell, part of their promotion is stereotyping bodybuilders and power lifters as judgmental morons. Incredible.

To be fair, you aren't very smart so they got a point there.

HEYOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

HEYOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

I do get pretty happy when I successfully pick things up, and put them back down.

That makes two of us.

Plus, we both have squat booty.

but... why, I mean, there are many different options for doing exercise, some people like the treadmill and some other like doing heavy lifts with weight, and there is nothing wrong with any of those options, it's just different approaches. I can't believe a chain enforces that kind of thinking, is absolutely unadmissible and very ignorant.

not just serious lifters shoud avoid them, everyone should, fuck that place.

But it makes them tons of money and they have the ideal clientele: people who pay the membership fee in perpetuity and never use the place.

Haha yeah I figured guy's doing like 275x9 on bench.

Oh yeah gomadx2 I'll eat raw bull testicles before I try that.

Uh, and that means he's on steroids? I do 240x10 for 5 sets. I do 300+ for 8+ reps etc. And my max is around 370-375.

I'm not on steroids. Unless you're sure he's on the juice (he's admitted it) don't question his work.

If he's on steroids and that's all he's benching he's throwing his money down the shitter.

Funny this whole grunting thing is coming up. I could care less if someone grunts, but this morning I walked into the gym and someone was full on shouting with their reps. Like, ridiculous levels. Seemed a little silly to me.

You're really underestimating your potential if you think benching 275 for 10 reps means someone is on steroids. Frankly in the big picture that's child's play, and easily achievable by your average healthy male with hard work.

I'm surprised nobody's been caught off guard by that "lunk alarm" thing at PF and dropped a weight on themselves or something. Seems kinda stupid.

Yeah, my friend has advocated and admitted steroid use as to him it's necessary to get to where he wants to be.

The 275 for reps was not his max it's just the most recent number I heard him put up, he told me his max is like 365 and I'm assuming that's with no spotters so he could probably do more.

I'm going to stick natural, see how far I can get, you guys are the benchmark.

Do you guys use protein powders? I've been trying to stick to real food like mass amounts of beef because I have mild reactions to protein powder that can fuck with my day.

Thanks.

which is freaking expensive... here in europe price for good beef is outrageous.

I wonder whether getting the protein from protein powders is less expensive than from regular food or not.

He's wasting his money, but fuck it, it's his money.

I wish my gym had free pizza days :(
NO, DO NOT ALLOW THIS TRAVESTY TO SPREAD.

He's wasting his money, but fuck it, it's his money.
This, as shogun said earlier, that guy isn't really doing anything special for someone on roids. However, I'm sure he reached that level of strength much faster than someone not on it. That all being said, I'm pretty much at his level and I haven't even touched. Heck, I don't even train for that.

Anyway, focus on your own goals, especially your smaller ones. Before you know it you'll be benching 3 plates like it's nothing. :) Keep at it mate.

I'm curious what their reasoning is for not allowing deadlifts. Noise? Injury potential? Uses up all the weights in the gym?

So if you saw me you'd assume I was on steroids...

I would assume it's either noise and injury potential. Deadlifts are pretty safe when done correctly, but done incorrectly they can be pretty dangerous. And it's not like Deadlifts are the most technical lift out there, but most people (including many PTs) have absolutely no idea how to do them. Combine that with ego (Yo I'm gonna pull 400lb even though I couldn't pull 135lb with a straight back) and you've got a recipe for disaster combined with a potential lawsuit against the gym.

There is a fundamental misunderstanding in the fitness world related to the mechanics and purpose of the squat and deadlift. At my previous Gym (a big-chain Globo Gym) one of the trainers told me he thought deadlifts were "obsolete and useless". Obsolete because now we have machines that can train the back better, and useless because they only trained "part of the spinal erectors". I had only been training for a few months at that point, but even back then I knew he was completely ignorant and full of shit.

As for deadlifts using up all the weights at the gym, can't be it. People love to load up the leg press with every single 45lb plate available for their 1/2 inch presses and no one seems to ever complain.

I don't think it has anything to do with injury, it's all about eliminating the powerlifting/bodybuilding culture. The goal is to create a place where "everyone" feels welcome and can feel good about themselves, which is a fine goal, but in doing so instead of encouraging people to strive to improve, the goal becomes to drag everyone down to the lowest of levels. Hell, you aren't allowed to wear anything with a label associated with bodybuilding or power lifting.

Also, they give unlimited personal training for free with membership, and part of being able to do so means creating an environment of machines and such where technique is a nom-issue.

When I move back home in a few weeks I will get a membership as a secondary for nights when my regular gym isn't open (the overnight staff doesn't care what you do) but it'll never be my primary gym.

I'm sure at least part of it is they're scared someone's gonna try to deadlift with improper form, fuck up the back, and sue the gym.

But then again they probably make all members sign some sort of waiver so maybe not.

Could you sue them if that happened?

Wouldn't surprise me. People have sued for much less and won.

i know that when i worked there i had to turn away a few members because they had shirts on that were cut all the way down the sides. so unless they were wearing an undershirt they couldn't work out. i only turned them away if my manager was there, but i hated doing it, and more than one person canceled.

Didn't know about that rule, probably because I never wear such shirts.

No, I don't assume to know anything about anyone for the most part, my friend has admitted to taking them in the past and I've known him for a good part of my life.

Oh, I see.

It's all relative. Zyzz for example was on multiple compounds, but he was still pretty weak even towards the end of his life.

Yea, I try. The last guy who asked me, became indignant when I told him I don't do any drugs. I got pretty annoyed with his insistence, because it undermines my hard work he was even laughing(I'm only 210 at 5 ft 10). I kept an eye on him once when lifting, he didn't really know what he was doing.

Decided not to hire the rippedbody.jp guy. The only reason for this was that I can't afford it now. Seems like a really great guy and his plan was solid but I just can't afford him. Though this does not mean that his prices were high, it's just that I'm poor(ish). I think his prices were pretty reasonable at least to compared what normal PT's charge around here (and hes much better) but they were still more than I had hoped.

Second reason if you can call it that was the fact that I don't really desperately need his help. I can do this on my own and have done it until now. His plan sounded pretty much like what I've been cooking up for the last stretch of my cut.

Going to buy a tub of ON whey. Which flavor is the best tasting stuff?

These are some of the options I have:

So this stuff is quite expensive and I want best bang for my buck tastewise. Which is the best?

This might be late but out of those I've tried double rich chocolate, strawberry and vanilla and the only one I continue using is the double rich chocolate. My buddy likes strawberry as well but I've never been able to stomach strawberry flavors when it comes to drinks (and am somewhat picky when it comes to other things in that flavor, such as ice cream). The vanilla was just straight up gross.

So yeah, can't go wrong with chocolate.

Speaking of which, I have a 2lb thing of vanilla that I tried (it was cheap) and hate and would be willing to give it to someone just as long as they pay full shipping. I live in washington state if anyone is interested and wants to get an idea on what shipping would be through USPS.

How much excess should I be eating? Doing SS for about 4 months now.

54kg > 68kg in 4 months, is that too fast? I try to hit 2900 a day but some days I miss that by 100 or 200. I have counted calories in a log book on an 'example' day, so I have a good idea of how much calories I'm eating. Height: 5' 4''.

Gains have been good but I can definitely see a difference in my upper body and lower body so I switched to Grey Skull LP because there are less squats and more upper body emphasis.

Started doing farmers walks too. They are incredibly awesome.

Cut going pretty well. Over 7kg of fat lost in six weeks. Though I'm now moving on to the 3rd stage of my cut as planned. Going to eat ~500cal over on training days and ~1000cal under on rest days.

Im amazed at how detailed you guys keep your diets and training regimes etc. I dont think its something I could do now...I have never ever counted calories or kept a log of anything other than in my head. I never weigh myself although recently the Doc did (I'm 90 kg: 198 lbs). I usually just look in the mirror and see what needs work and hit it.

Kudos for the dedication tho -

If you want to really improve anything you gotta have a plan and a way to track progress. Feels good.

Did 3x5 bent over rows at 145 today but I think my form might be off. Do you guys bring the bar up to the chest or the stomach? And pronated or supinated grip?
