Would love to but my gym only allows trainers to use them with clients, which sucks.
I'm skinny fat.
6'2", 170lbs, very little muscle mass and essentially a weakling.
Because of work my only options are essentially home-based workouts for roughly the next 6 months.
Resistance Bands+P90x -or- A couple Kettlebells+DVD?
Are you working 16 hours a day? How can you not have time to gym 3 days a week for 30-45 minutes. It's all you need, and you should be clean bulking.I'm skinny fat.

Running has always been my prefered cardio, but I can't run right now due to recovery from a Shin Splint.
Do any of you have any good home cardio workout routines, that will burn a serious amount of calories?
Someone told me about these M-100 exercises, that look pretty tough. Anyone have any suggestions?
I get a nice work discount. If my gym had equipment and wouldn't let me use it, I'd be finding another gym.
Insanity or P90X might be something to look into.
BBB squats @ 240.
Holy shit. Quads and glutes were done. Could barely walk.
Thinking about hiring Andy Morgan (from rippedbody.jp) as a personal trainer for three months. The issue now is basically how expensive his services are since I don't have too much extra cash as a student. Sent an inquiry and his plan seemed great and I'm currently waiting for him to send me the pricing information. Time difference between Finland and Japan make communication a bit slow though.
If his services come at a fair price then I'll probably hire him but I'm not really sure what to expect price-wise..
Anyway I could do this on my own but I think hiring a third party would definitely bring it's own advantages.

Was always curious about that. Him and Martin, as I always wondered how much it cost for them to put a program together.
When he gets back to you with a price can you tell me, even if it's in a PM as not to post it publicly, I would really appereciate it.
Back to a point from the last page - so ATG low bar is basically not doable without back rounding or knees exploding or falling backwards or what? I only ever go parallel so I don't know what the mechanics are there.
Nice, I did 225 yesterday (after the 5/3/1 deads) and my groin is all sore now cuz my knees were all over the place on the last few reps.
I also took your advice to try drop sets on shrugs and holy hell am I sore today. BBB presses will not be fun today.
Excellent.
I did BBB bench at 180 last night. A humbling experience.
Congrats on kicking those habits to the curb. It's better to never have them in the first place, but I've been there. From skinny to skinny-fat, to just fat and then the meandering road to 'fit.'Ok so first picture here is me circa 2008. Drank a lot, pack a day smoker, ate like dogshit.
routine
Finally decided to switch to 531 after doing GSLP for 3 months. I think the LP well has finally dried up for me.
I won't be doing BBB just yet, except on squats, and the reason is that I want to squat 2 times a week to keep the movement fresh, to grease the groove, so to speak.
I still want to focus on strength so I'm doing 531+Triumvirate (main lift+2 assistance exercises). This is what I've come up with:
Monday
531 Squat
Chinups
Romanian Deadlifts
Tuesday
531 Bench
Close Grip Bench Press
Lying Triceps Extensions
Wednesday
531 Deadlift
BBB Squats
Leg Press
Friday
531 OHP
Dips
Hanging Leg Raises
Curls (Straight Barbell+Hammer Curls)
Thoughts? Any feedback would be appreciated.
This wednesday was, by the way, the first time I've ever used a leg press in my life. My quads are freaking sore, even though I've been squatting at least 2x week for the past 18 months.
Any reason why you chose chinups for the squat day? Just curious.
Your pull/push ratio is terrible man. Going to set yourself up for an injury with that. Squats day take out chinups for goodmornings. Bench day you need a pull, take away closed grip bench and add bent over rows. OHP day do chins. Then all will be well with the world.
Because I'm 221lb and Chins take a lot out of me. If I do them in the same that as another upper body lift they just feel really freaking hard. I guess I could do them on Friday after OHP, but then I'd have to move Dips to Monday, and I fear that would impact my bench on Tuesday.
Guess I could add Pendlay Rows on Tuesday, but I'd like to keep the CGBP because my triceps are the weakest link in my pressing movements.

Your gym?
Going to buy a tub of ON whey. Which flavor is the best tasting stuff?
These are some of the options I have:
So this stuff is quite expensive and I want best bang for my buck tastewise. Which is the best?
I don't understand, why would deadlifts be banned in a gym? or is that pic a joke?

Honestly I don't like any of the ones I tried. Doesn't taste good to me and there are much better powders for the same price or less.
Are you buying online or in a store?
I saw 2 new very insulting planet fitness commercials yesterday. Hadn't seen these 2 before. They really pissed me off.

There is a chain of gyms called "Planet Fitness" and they emphasize casual lifting/working out. I get the idea behind it but for people who are more serious, this is a place that should be avoided as evident by the sign. They have a no grunting policiy as well and if you are too loud, an alarm goes off. It is terrible.
Not to mention their pizza Fridays where you can eat free pizza.
Actually, that part is fine. For me. Cause I like pizza.
Oh my, link? I hope one of them insults guys for lifting to grow their legs instead of just running.
