5 pounds on squat/dead and 2.5 on bench/press. Johnny (the man behind GSLP) is pretty adamant in the ebook about jumping by 2.5 only per session on the upper body lifts. You can get 1.25 plates at Amazon or other places. Gyms don't usually carry them.

Per session as in every time you work out? For example:

Monday: Bench 100
Wednesday: Press 102.5
Friday: Bench 105

The size of this weight gainer tub is so misleading. After 11 days of using it there's only 1 or 2 servings left inside it. I've only had 1 serving a day too.

You can make your own 'mass-gainer'. I repost this every few times in the thread, but it saves me so much money.

Dry blend oats into a fine powder, add protein powder (dependant on how much protein you want), add milk and fruit and blend a second time.

2-3 months costs me like £30 max - and thats a lot of calories.

Usually a wider stance with toes pointed outwards and an active effort to shove the knees out at the bottom fixes all depth problems, even in super inflexible people. More flexible individuals can get away with feet pointed inwards more and a narrower stance, but for people with trouble reaching depth, knees out+wider stance usually does the trick.

Try this both as a stretch and to get an idea of what the bottom of the squat feels like:

Thanks, I'll give that a try...I don't go nearly that wide on my stances. Squat is hard for me...I feel like there's a 100 different things to remember and forgetting any one of them can fuck up your form.

I see you are still doing high bar. It seems to me you are trying to implement low bar mechanics into a high bar squat. This doesn't work. In a high bar squat your shins aren't as vertical as the back angle shortens the hamstrings and throws the knees forward. You also need to drive with your chest.

If you are going to switch to low bar, you need to do it now. If you are going to stick with high bar, that's fine, but understand the mechanics are different from what I and others have been indicating.

Your deadlift looks okay. You need to raise your chest a bit more. Think of pointing your nipples to the wall. That usually does the trick. Does your Gym have round plates? Because those hexagonal plates will make deadlifting unnecessarily more annoying one the weights start to get heavy.

I would like to switch to low bar. Again, I thought I WAS doing low bar at the time. Ha. I think I'll have to read the squat chapter again.

At what point should I be pointing my nipples to the wall? Only at the top part? Also my gym doesn't have round plates. Only dodecagonal ones, and yeah they're already annoying. They begin to roll away in weird ways when I get to the bottom.

Thank you for your help, Noema.

It's such a natural motion for our bodies that once it clicks, it sticks with you. Deadlifts I still worry about form, but squats you'll see the smallest children even perform with no thought.

So I lost about 8 pounds, unintentionally, in the past month because of a health issue that's been acting up. I lift 3-4 days a week and randomly run a mile or two here and there. I've always wanted a 6-pack and I've never had one, but I also don't want to look unnaturally skinny.

I'm down to 6'2, 173. I realize I'm already pretty small, but I'm wondering is there any harm if I just stick with the weight loss and try to get a bit more cut before I regain the weight or will I just look like a skeleton if I lose another 3-5 pounds. Any advice?

Man. You're where I want to be. I think you're good to bulk at this point.

if you want that 6 pack you gotta build some bigger ab muscles as well as diet. Some bigger squats, deadlifts etc coupled with some ab exercises (weighted decline crunches are my fav) will help you build those muscles to be shown

EDIT: ditto on crankyjay's comment

Thanks, that is exactly what I wanted to hear. I keep reading that the only way to get abs is to lose weight/body fat, but I just don't see how I'm going to look any better by losing weight at this point. Clean bulk it is!

Yeah I'd do a few months of training to drive your squat, press, dl and bench into intermediate territory. Then cut down and you'll have a six pack and an ice chest to put it in.

Has anybody tried strawberry flavored weight gainer? Tasty?

Since my gainer is almost empty I'm about to buy another round of the goods. I'm undecided on whether to stick to chocolate / go strawberry / choose another brand.

The only reason I'm thinking of choosing something else is because my current gainer has been making me vomit, although it could be the whole milk causing it..

In my experience - most powders that aren't chocolate flavored are absolute shit.

I have about 2 kg's left of some budget protein "chocolate coconut bounty" and it's repulsive. I can force it down but it's no fun. I'll probably go for a tasteless variant for my next batch.

I dunno, I'm on my 3rd or 4th tub of whey, chocolate, and I'm so frickin sick of chocolate flavored protein. I am definitely switching to vanilla next time so I can blend some flavour into it like berries.

Got a question, Fitness-GAF.

In this organic "power greens" mix, why isn't kale added?
Kale doesn't offer the same (or equivalent) benefits as the Spinach, Mizuna, Chard & Arugula?

I always thought kale was great for you, a long the lines of spinach.

If it has Swiss chard, you're good. That's basically a souped up version of kale.

Any type of green is good for you. When you're eating well, it doesn't matter if you're eating kale or spinach. As long as you're eating well, don't worry about the details.

I like Banana and Cookies and Cream (GNC brand). Also, I personally find Muscle Milk (when blended with actual milk) to be baffingly delicious.

On the other hand, it's been several months since I've had whey protein. It's so obscenely expensive here in Mexico it's just not worth it. It's incredibly convenient but goddamn, a 2lb tub of GNC whey (that's the cheapest one) goes for like $70, and that shit lasts me like 3 days.

I can buy 10 kilos of meat with $70!

Good deal. I do not know about the "Swiss" version of chard. I did a quick Google search, I think it would indeed have the Swiss chard in there. I'll check the back panel tomorrow at Central Market to be sure. Grocery shopping is one my hobbies, can't wait! There's other types of mixtures as well, they have like half a wall full. I usually just get the Baby Spinach & Baby Kale but I found the "Power Greens" and bought that for a test. Was great, I'd buy again.

Thanks for the reply.

Awesome dude. Thanks!

Yeah, I am eating well. My coworkers and parents are amazed about my "dieting." Not really a diet anymore, it's a life style of eating well and healthy. I did dieting when I was losing weight.

I'll smuggle 10,000lbs in, for a price. It'll be the illegal protein trade.

Nice. I'm glad you're doing well. Eating well is always a great lifestyle choice.

That's how I have to look at it. Lifestyle change. And I can't do cheat days. Too much of a food addict.

I decided this week to switch from a full-on low carb diet to the carb nite solution (carbs one night a week as a refuel). I think it's going to be easier to stick to, it's much more tolerable eating canned tuna or eggs and turkey for the bazillionth time knowing it's just a few days to sweet potatoes, popcorn, and cottage cheese with ketchup. Remember, all or nothing is easy, but moderation takes disciprine.

Quoting myself from a few pages ago:
I got much bigger abs thanks to compound movements than what I had a year ago, with hardly any direct abs work.

Now even though I'm bulking and probably around 15% bf I can still see a 4 pack under good lighting.

Don't lose bf, get bigger abs first. My 2 cents.

I wholeheartedly agree with you on the cheat day thing; I'm either on or I'm off. Eating pizza and cake at birthday parties for my family will generally wreck a week's worth of work each time. Others can do it but some of us can't.

I disagree. Unless you're eating 3500+ cals worth of pizza and cake OVER maintenance, you really aren't going to sabotage a week's worth of work. Some of my best weight loss has come after a weekend of cheating, probably from cranking up leptin levels and getting my metabolism going.

Some people are all or nothing, and that's more than okay with me.

Yeah it won't. Enjoy life, guys. One of the nice thing about weight training is the faster metabolism.

My friend went to ironsport yesterday. He said the equipment was awesome, Steve is fucking huge, and there were girls doing 225 deadlifts.

I told him to buy me a DYEL shirt but he already left :(

Got my first non gf comment yesterday. I went to my friends house who I haven't seen in over a month and the first thing he said was, "damn you're getting a lot bigger, what do you do at the gym?"

A lot of people think the few pounds they gain the next morning after a "cheat" dinner is a permanent weight gain of fat, when it's impossible and it's mostly water/food weight.

I struggle to explain this to family members, they dismiss me completely :lol

Why did you do P90X? It's not a bulking routine, it's meant to lose bodyfat so of course you lost weight. You sir are so unbelievably skinny that Starting Strength or similar barbell training program is the only way to go here.

And if you form sucks then you correct that form, it's as simple as that.
