I'm currently down 17lbs from low carbin and going on a 25% deficit. Gotta keep this train going. Can't wait to hit my goal weight so I can get stronger.

Hey guys. Shit going on so I've been distracted. Keeping in shape though. My daughter is killing it. DL'd 225 and almost had 235. Me on the other hand?? 450 is a struggle and squating 350 takes zen like focus and the need to summon every ounce of energy. Although I've been hovering around the upper 170s so that may have something to do with it.

Did I miss anything good?

So I lift for strength, still kinda weak in my eyes, want to hit 1/2/3/4 and then focus more on bodybuilding but long way from that.
Instead of just running and standard cardio I want to do some martial art or combat sport, not only for cardio gainz but I want to learn to fight and have another activity to do.

What would you recommend? I thought boxing or kickboxing but here you can only do recreational or professional. Recreational NEVER spar and it's just an hour of cardio and some bag punching... Also thought judo or bjj and that could be useful but only with another striking sport already known or together with? So maybe MMA, I need advice.
I come across way too many violent people in my life and knowing how to defend yourself would be very beneficial as well.

Does anyone use any youtube yoga routines? I am trying to recover from an injury and heard Yoga is good at both prevention and recouperation, the sport in question I play the most is Soccer/Football so anything tailored to that sort of movement would be a plus.

only 35lbs away from being able to do my first chin up! This negative chin up program has really been working.

The combined 10lbs I have to lose and the continuation of this negative chin up program should hopefully have me doing my first chin up in maybe 2 months :')

5 and a half months. I know I could have done better in that time, but doing everything right is hard. Will post another when I've reached my goal.

Personally, I think that's a pretty good change for nearly 6 months. You lost a lot of extra fat and your new hairstyle/glasses is putting in work. I think I asked you months ago, but what are your stats/goals?

I'm not a huge YT fitness guy as many are geared up hucksters.

But I do enjoy this guy:

Yes, he's probably on gear lol. But his enthusiasm is infectious.

Juggernaut Training Systems puts out great content for both weightlifting and powerlifting. Everybody there is really smart and breaks down everything they talk about. Here's a video about mobility with some movements I've started incorporating the day before a deadlift or squat session to feel better https://youtu.be/XA1lcFpHV40

This year's endurance mountain biking event completed successfully.

Just shy of 18 hours at an average heart rate of 144bpm (including eating time). That's about 77% of my max heart rate. When I was actually working I was trying to keep it to 155bpm (85% max heart rate) or above.

I'm very tired now.

Ok I think I am done using creatine,

I am not sure why exactly, maybe I am taking it at the wrong time, maybe it's fake creatine or maybe am just old but it's like clockwork: I take creatine during workout and there comes the massive belly bloat that lasts till next day.

I tested it, I did workouts with and without and it was very noticeable.

Internet says creatine shouldn't cause bloats or anything, so maybe it's something else but for the time being I am done with it, I didn't exactly see massive gains using it, to be frank, so that's that.

I've started benching 4x per week and the increase in volume seems to already be doing me good after only 2 weeks. Earlier this week I worked up to 290x2 @ RPE 8 and today I did 290x3 @ RPE 8. If that's really my current 5 rep max then my current max would be calculated a little above 330. I only hit 314 at my meet a couple weeks ago.

There is no "wrong time" to take creatine, technically, as it has no acute effects. Also understand it doesn't dissolve in water and takes a bit of time to get fully digested so you're lifting with a bunch of dust in your stomach. I would personally take it first thing in the morning or after a workout.

For me, eating anything directly before a workout is a no-no when it comes to stomach gurmpyness so I eat about 2 hours before. I switched from taking my creatine pre workout to taking it after when i eat. Some days i take it in the morning, sometimes at night. As long as I get my daily i'm good.

Also, creatine doesn't work for everyone. The last doc I read pegged only 80% of people respond to creatine. I would stop taking it for a few months then hop back on either in the morning or anytime after you lift. Give it time to digest.

With that body, probably. Regardless of gear or not as long as person has a good enough personality I will probably watch them.

Make sure you're getting Creatine Monohydrate with no fillers. I find personally it's the fillers that cause me to bloat up. Switched off to creatine w/o fillers and feel much better.

Fitgaf I just wanna be lean already :(

Losing weight while keeping your lifts stable takes forever since I can't do a huge deficit (not that I'm sure I'd even be able to stick to that lol).

Sometimes I just look at photos of the lifters I aspire to look like to keep motivated. Looking like this woman (Christiana Brown) is my ultimate goal.

Gaf Im trying to figure out whats going on. Im on week 4 now with working out and eating better. My workout routine is basically Bowflex circuit training with some dumbell and floor exercises,3 times a week. Ive been taking protein shakes 2-3 times a day as substitutions for meals and been drinking mostly water all day every day my eating habits have changed dramatically.. Right now Im sitting at the same exact weight I started at ughhhh! I can feel my strength picking up and muscles filling out but Im not dropping any fat it seems. Is it too early for me to worry about that? Maybe I should add a couple of days of just cardio to the mix? Im just worried I wont be able to give my muscles time to rest if I add more exercise at this point. Any advice??

Post your daily calories/macros, current height, weight, full training frequency, etc.

Also I would stay away from using protein shakes as fillers. Use them to supplement food when you can't get enough. Food > shakes all day every day. Use them as a treat every once in a while.

Supplement with shakes, not substitute.

I'm entering the tough stretch myself where it's 12 weeks in, and it's just the slow burn of fat at this point. The pump I get from the gym feels great though, and I'm not discouraged.

As far as goals... our bodies are different. Some dudes won't be slim, and some dudes won't get huge. Personally, I just wanna lose this goddamned double-chin, lmao. That's my goal.

Alexia Clark, Jen Selter and Lexi Panterra's Instagram accounts all help me roll out of bed in the morning to go to the gym, tho.

I'm trying to do some bodyweight HIIT work at home when I'm short on time. Any recommendations?

Here's my current list:

Jumping Lunges
V-ups
Burpees
Mountain Climbers

Just gotta say 5/3/1 Jokers and FSL are doing some magic. I managed to hit a PR for OHP today with a 120x1 OHP on a Joker set. I haven't been able to get past 115lbs for the past 3 years.

Possibly dumb question, but do eggs lose any protein if you boil them?

I think the bioavailability is lowered for most foods when cooked but I wouldnt worry about it. Not there's a difference between boiling and other forms of cooking, unless you plan on eating them raw.

So going to start back the gym this week after what must be about 2 years from the last time i went.

Just looking for tips as I want to go in the morning before work and not after work as its far to busy.

The problem i have though it that i tend to not eat anything till lunch normally. Should i really have something to eat before i go? I would be at the gym for 7AM as I start work at 9AM.

If you're doing cardio, it doesn't matter too much. Whatever is more convenient for you, do that.

If you're doing weight training, a light snack is a good idea, but you want to avoid foods high in fat or fibre. Same if you decide to eat before cardio.

If you don't like to eat in the morning, a cup of coffee, an energy drink or a preworkout shake, can give you the energy you need to get you through your workout.

I train fasted on the weekends. Saturday I squat bench and deadlift fasted and Sunday I bench fasted. I don't feel any different from other days when I train.

Holy shit I just realized I can do a pull up. This blows my fuckin mind. Never in my life have I been able to and I'm still using like 40 pounds on the assisted pull ups. Damn, this is the best feeling since I realized I had the ability to control my weight.
