Hot_Pockets.jpg

This is a carryover food from when I was younger. When they first came out ... there wasn't much else that was microwave friendly. They were blissful quasi-sandwiches nuked to perfection.

As I have grown older, I realize that they have molten lava cheese inside of them. When hot, they scald your mouth or anything that touches it. When cold, it becomes ancient yellow rock.

The biggest problems with Hot Pockets is that as you eat them, all thier contents slide down to the bottom of the pocket. Then as you are happily mid way through your pocket, the bottom EXPLODES into a cheesy, melt-your-fingers, stain-your-clothes, avalanche of processed foodstuff.

Often the grocery stores will run good deals on them (2 boxes for 3 bucks) ... and .. I can not resist temptation for easy microwavable food. ::shame::

Clam chowder. Its really, really, really good maybe five percent of the time. The other 95 percent of the time it tastes like crap. But I always buy it anyway hoping its gonna be good.

Hash and Grits. My dad used to eat this GodAwfulCrap when he was in the military and for some reason, it is the ONLY food he is capable of cooking. So, if I'm not around to make breakfast or I happen to sleep in or something, he makes Hash and Grits (which our pantry is stocked to accomodate us with for the next 2397472302740 years). On rare ocasions when I'm lazy and don't want to go out, I actually end up eating it when we have nothing else in the house. I always feel dirty after eating that crap, too... it is like grease in a bowl. Ugh...

Grits by themselves with a gallon of sugar aren't too bad, though.

If I pick it up, I'll usually eat it. Even if I hate it. I feel like it's wasteful otherwise.
Yeah, same here. That's about the only time i'll eat a food i don't like though, unless it's something i don't like because of the preparation. Coffee is the first thing that comes to mind. Last night, i went to Waffle House to do a little work after work, and had some coffee with an acquaintance. Their coffee, like most other restaurant coffee, is bland and burnt. i drank a couple of cups anyway.

Yeah sometimes I'll stomach food just to get my money's worth.

I get the odd binge to eat totally unhealthy junk food like chips, fries, ice cream and such. I hate them, but I'll still have them.

Or I have a craving for some Burger King, and then totally regret it after I wolf it down.

DAMN YOU JUNK FOOD INDUSTRY!

I can't stand em, but once I start eating them I can't quit. Then my mouth is sore afterwards. I can deal with the chili cheese fritos, but the regular hurts.

Also Burger King fries

Taco Bell. I'll forget my slight aversion and order a taco or burrito or what have you, and eat it. It tastes alright up until the time I finish. A few minutes after that I just get this feeling that eating it was a big waste of time. I literally feel like I wasted my time eating that. I could've had something better, sweeter, spicier, more robust, anything but Taco Bell. I could've waited a few more minutes and decided to go somewhere else to eat. I could've skipped that meal and whipped up something great at home. I could've, I could've, I could've... Dunno why, but it's how I feel. So then I make a promise to myself that I'll not buy anything from Taco Bell again.

And one day I'll forget and walk into one and order a Gordita. And the cycle begins anew.

i periodically have to remind myself how much i dislike fish. the impulse will seize me at a restaurant to order something absolutely filthy with sealife, and then i'll eat it, and then i'll resolve never to eat anything like that again. an old girlfriend of mine used to keep various granola bars around, which were vile, and which i would eat in despair, since i wasn't smoking at the time. then we would ride bikes. i periodically have to remind myself how much i dislike girlfriends.

This thread is awesome. Neuroses are always fun.

Me, I put everything on a Subway I'm going to eat 99% of the time. Onion, lettuce, tomato, cucumber, pickles, pepperoncinis (slightly hot, pickled things) and jalapenos. All of this is stuff that I can enjoy separately or in the right context/dish, but put them together and it's just a chore to eat it. But damned if it isn't healthy.

Shrimp. I like the taste, but I hate hate HATE the texture of it. The squish to it. I can down about a million popcorn/breaded shrimp, but if it's just shrimp or garliced up or something I just get disgusted.

You're not just talking about the large shrimp they have at places like cheap Chinese restaurants are you? Shrimp usually has an al dente quality to it when it's cooked.

I'm talking red lobster. I know shrimp can be really bad when undercooked, but when cooked good I still don't like the texture.

Seasonal Candies, Candy Corn, Peeps and Cadburry Eggs most notably. Every single year I convince myself I like it, eat it and remember why I don't... but the following year I'll do it again.

Fast food like Burger King. The taste is adequate, I guess, but it makes me feel like shit and it's definitely not good for me. I try to avoid it and don't eat it often, but I do most of my eating away from home so if I'm in a hurry it's just not convenient to go to a restaurant.
